Is NMA Dying?

When Fallout 4 drops this place will light up like a christmas tree.

The userbase will likely drop off a bit after that, but it'll be the defibrillation that this place needs to keep it chugging along for years to come.

Doesn't have to be. I think there are now bigger hubs for Fallout than NMA. NMA is mostly big with Fallout 1 and 2 modding I would say - well for obvious reasons. But the run with new members to register here when Fallout 4 was just announced with trailers and the like was MUCH smaller compared to Fallout 3. To be honest, I expected a lot more and I was actually surprised about the low numbers of trolls and there have been at least some who really tried to argue and discuss stuff. And even on the Bethesda forum you will find a much bigger range of diversity within their community now. Many people that actually even agree with Gizmo for example. There simply are a lot more Fallout releated communities, websites etc. today.

Most new fans will go to the Bethesda forums (if they aren't already there because of Skyrim).
But some will definitely notice NMA (even if it's just because the folks at the Beth-forums complain about us complaining about Fallout 4).
There'll be a few trolls and hater-haters (who're gonna hate, hate, hate), but we're just gonna shake it off.

We've been having a lot of activity lately. Even more than when they announced Fallout 4 a couple of months back.

Related to NMA's dying: How come there is no discussion either about the Migrant Crisis or the US election? Is there now some unwritten rule about politics? Would be quite disappointing since this was one of the few places where you could discuss shit like that freely, with both sides represented (meaning not the usual echo chamber bs).

Politics tends to be a sticky subject and quickly devolves into personal attacks. The floor is open to discussion, but NMA has historically had little patience for personal attacks and shitposting.

That said, the fact the feminism thread is still active should tell you that the election and migration debates are fair game.

Maybe it has something to do with a lot of the Userbase not being from the US (contrary to popular belief, the US is not the entire world), there was a thread on the migrant "situation" long ago and it devolved into a lot of racist shit pretty quickly.

I'm not from the US, but I still follow the elections. I think it's interesting, especially because of the rise of Trump and Sanders, both considered extremists in the US.

I must have missed the migration thread. Was it deleted with no trace left?

The US elections are a hilarious circus. I follow them on some youtube channels.

No thread here is deleted they are jus moved to the Vats section. The Migration thread has to either be in the Vats section or buried under pages of this subforum.

Some were hijacked threads and were deleted.

You have a lot of folks who don't care and those who do come from countries that have bad blood with the U.S.

It is pretty chic to complaon about the U.S. here and super fun to word battle those who start off on morality but then admit they are really just backing up their sentiments on self-serving grounds, which is fine.

After the release of Fallout 4 I can see the activity of this site growing significantly, we just need to wait a little while longer but I myself prefer the smaller activity.

This place looks so alive to me that I'll stop stirring the pot for a while. Be prepared though, because I'll be back before end of this year, and broken English would come with me!
