Is the US a shitty place to live?

Since most humans are very similar when it comes to the basics I doubt Russia, Britain, France or anyone would do a "good" job. The only way how a good job can be done is if there are powers that keep each other somewhat in check. That is if no one is to strong or to weak. And it seems this might be will happen in the next decades, at least I believe it is. I mean for me it is pretty obvious that the US can not continue on their current path and foreign politicy for ever. And other nations like Russia, China and maybe Brazil and India will gain more power and influence over the world. Particularly in their own hemispheres, the nations get closer together economically and the idea of wars become less attracive, partiuclarly when you consider how many nations have nuclear weapons.

Might lead to better results. Who knows.

Thats if Putin doesn't get Russia involved with more proxy scuffles. India might get to a certain level of power if it doesn't get into more bullshit with Pakistan. China, if it doesn't continue to piss off its neighbors over islands that add an extra inch to its penis.

Come to think of it, Brazil so far, seems like it has the smoothest road ahead.

United States were a good place to live for many Slovaks actually and they've worked hard to keep American arses safe. I'd like to name two of them, well known and respected even in memoriam here in Slovakia.

Jan Slezak, engineer who've helped to arm the most powerful army in the world as Assistant Secretary of the Army whilst working for Ike Eisenhower:

Michal Strank, one of the soldiers who've raised U.S. flag captured on the famed photo from Iwo Jima:

Nah. I think we have it better in comparison a lot of countries out there in the world. Sure, we have our fair share of problems out there but I can hardly call the U.S a bad place to live in comparison to Donestk in Ukraine, Sudan, Liberia, or Indonesia. I think we're well off.

I've had and still have relatives living in US, New Jersey and Texas. After Dubya was elected the relative in Texas decided to move, things got too difficult and she moved to South Africa.

I've been very critical of US but I'm sure it isn't a bad place to live in. Wages are usually good and if you can afford a car, which seems like something every yank should have, you can probably live comfortably. I prefer the European way where you don't necessarily need a car, shops are closer by and you don't have to drive far away to a mall somewhere to shop. Also I'm not a fan of things like the death penalty they have in for example Texas but I guess that's another matter.

We're reasonably well-off, but I think Canada or the UK would be better candidates for "best country to live in."

Its subjective and varies from person to person, hence my disappointment with this troll thread.

The US has a lifestyle for everyone.

Like big cities and urban sprawl? Quiet mountain life? Rural plains? Beaches? Cold weather? Hot weather? There are progressive areas, conservative areas, and even a few pockets of libertarianism. The only problem is that the people from the conservative and progressive areas wont leave each other alone and try to use the power of the state to force their will on each other

I'm well past the point where education is a problem. I graduated just as they were beginning to wind up to No Child Left Behind and don't have a kid, so it's something I hear about but don't experience.

America is a great place to live for the upper 1%, pretty good for people in the middle class, and shit for those that are below the poverty line.

Ah yes. That's what we needed. More indoctrination.

A bunch of kids singing at Trump's rally should be the least of your concerns regarding indoctrination.

America is a great place to live for the upper 1%, pretty good for people in the middle class, and shit for those that are below the poverty line.

You just described every country on the planet.

The sad thing is, I can't think of anything that makes America different from other western countries anymore. The only thing that comes to mind is the freedom to own guns, and I don't know how long that one will last. Everything else already seems to have become the same oppressive hyper-regulated mess as everywhere else.
