purple heart? did i miss something? (doesn't seem like something i'd forget)

what happened?

October 16th, 2008 during a mission to scout a cache we ended up getting suckered and nearly blown up. I, along with three NCOs and a Terp investigated the site, detained some suspects and next thing I recall is hearing a booom, seeing two of the three sergeants laid out, the right sleeve of my right arm was dotted with holes and blood began to ooze and the Terp is holding me aside. Appearantly the terp had taken the brunt for me, though I got my arm peppered, with two deep punctures from small bits of shrapnel and the side of my head.

The concscious sergeant went down later from concussion, but all lived.

And no, i never spoke of it, than again it has been a minute since I been back.

We took fire and we returned fire. But no one on our end got killed. We got evacuated and I was out patient with two weeks bed rest and light duty. I healed up pretty good. Some nice lil scars.

That's the piece of shrapnel they took out of my elbow area... The one they allowed me to keep

And here are the wounds as they were

glad to hear you guys pulled out alright.
you kinda got lucky there. the same thing in your neck could really have spoiled your day...

but hey, you're back now. i hope you're not considering another tour?

Thanks man. The wounds healed pretty clean and I got 110% mobility back in my right arm, though had it gone differently, my arm would probably be dead weight.

And as for another tour of duty. Probably in the near future... Hopefully Afghanistan. All depends on what the Man has to say about it.

SuAside is right carib. You've served your time, and going to play hero/badass isn't going to ring in anything for you. Most of those scars from doing so won't heal. You have all of your educational benefits lined up I'm sure, and going to school would be better in the long run for you then having your brain melt in the sun. There is a fine line between brave and stupid. You have your honor and your record, what else do you need?

didn't mean to say it was a bad choice, just not one that i would take. (but whatever his choice is, i'll support it)

i just hope he's doing it for the right reasons.

You had an SD flash card shot into your arm? Damn, these guys are using some weird shrapnel!

In all seriousness, good to have you back Carib, I'm glad you got through okay.

I found this pic from a while ago while going througth my photo bucket that I wanted to share.

why do you seem to think that's special?

Dude, in a lot of countries you can't even walk anywhere in public with an open beer bottle, let alone an airport.

Also, Von Drunky, why do you look so much like Bernard Black?

i can think of more places where that's perfectly fine than where it's banned tbh...

After reading Bernard Black's wiki I did notice more then a few similar characteristics. I'll have to check out the Black Books show when I have free time. Thanks, Bnone.

I'm relieved to hear that you weren't the guy with the smirnoff ice, but I think Bernard drinks red wine, not beer.
Black books rules, I love Dylan Moran's disheveled indifference. Though, Bill Bailey is usually much funnier than he is in that.

Now, is that a homeless man in the middle, or a rabbi?

Thats Rabbi D, he is a good man. Not the first Rabbi I got drank around (I need to be pretty wasted to comprehend religion). The guy with the Smirnoff Ice, was my best friend once.

Well playing hero as much as it may have seemed appealing when I first joined up doesn't always happen. I suppose like anything else you grow up and you learn that the good fight is being fought on much higher levels than you.

To be honest i am just eager to get it over with. And I don't know if I'll stay in for the full 20 or I'll just do my time up to 2014 and say adios to the Army.

Time will tell. But till then I take it a day at a time.

Right, it's time for good ol' Makenshi to show his tropical face:

Me and my fiancé in a friend's marriage. I should have shoved (is this the word?) the remnants of my beard... damn...

* Sorry for the size, can any mod make it fit the screen? Or turn into thumbnail? (I forgot how to do it)
