You sound like my Platoon Sergeant... but yes, I think it maybe more useful in Afghanistan. Besides, always liked the kukri. My father carried one and so did his father. So its more like an unsaid tradition. Except they have the authentic one, while mine is tough but made by the folks who make Ka-Bars.

seems a tad overkill if you already lug a ka-bar around...

but in non-desert environments i bet it's a very handy tool.

Yes, yes our kids are doing great thanks.
We have one of the best educational systems in the world, the schoolyards are paved with gold and each Monday a giant candy filled bumblebee releases her delicious cargo over a random school.
