"Kid In The Fridge" Quest = the stupidest quest ever.

For the record, I did that option the first time you meet him. He calls you a Capitalist bastard in Chinese and becomes hostile, upon which you're forced to kill him. But at least you get his swanky uniform if you go that route.

I wish you could get his submarine to. Like the Vertibird, a glorified fast travel. It may sound bad but I wouldn't mind firing nukes at the Children of Atom at the coast above the lighthouse settlement.

Considering how 1/3rd of the damn map is underwater and completely barren, I have no doubt one of the DLCs will involve going underwater. Considering the Chinese commander's sub literally just sits there after the mission even though he tells you he's going home, I'm thinking one of the DLCs will either involve going back with him to China, or using his sub to explore underwater and find some hidden cthulu treasure or some such nonsense. I will bet you money on it.

I guess there's no point asking why is he still here, or what he's been eating for the last 200 years?

Going to China would be cool. I know Dick Richardson said China is pretty much a few tents and a ton of dust, but he could've been lying. I would like to see how China held up. I would really hate to go underwater as Fallout is about exploring the mainland, not the underwater shit.

Hey, there's a kid in a fridge who's was in a tiny space for 200 years. Don't ask questions and take your logic and shove it up your ass, this is Fallout 4, bitch. Now go back and kill raiders and help some settlements.

But in all seriousness he probably scavenged from the local areas/and or had enough food to sustain himself for a while.

I agree, it makes sense that there would be something happening underwater. You know what would be cool? A Russian sub...

A Russian sub...

That wouldn't make too much sense. There's next to no mention of the Soviets(as the USSR did not dissolve in the Fallout Universe) and they were implied to have been in good relations with America, and China getting even stronger during Pre-War times meant that Russia-chan would cling to America-senpai's arm more.

So it wouldn't make too much sense if a Russian sub was in American waters during Pre-War times, as it would make a big risk of America getting super paranoid and nuking the USSR off the face of the Earth.

I have argued against that too many times now...

Yeah, like funding rebels against American allies never got them nuked! Or like spies and all! Give me a break, if America isn't nuking a country because of SPIES they're not nuking a singular sub.

That submarine could have nukes boi

On a side note, did you know during Fallout Extreme the main party was meant to visit Russia on their way to China?

I guess there's no point asking why is he still here, or what he's been eating for the last 200 years?

He's still there because his sub was hit by an underwater mine, rendering his sub useless. That's what the quest is about, helping him fix the sub so it'll finally work again. The only reason he hasn't done it himself is because he can't bring himself to kill his own crew as he sees them as family, even if they're feral.

As for what he eats.. Well.. there's a kitchen in the back with like 3 containers of Blamco Mac and Cheese.. Fuck logic! He made those 3 packets of macoroni last 200 years, that's Chinese willpower for you!

Oho boy, not only that, don't forget that apparently not only is China still going strong, way stronger than the US, they have an Emperor AND they apparently still have a nuclear arsenal waiting to go since the whole point of Extreme was to stop China from nuking America a 2nd time. Kinda glad that game got cancelled honestly.

Meh. It sounds badass on paper, but it wouldn't be too good as an actual game.
But, like in the title, it was meant to be EXTREME, it would've been crazy.

Yeah but it was also going to be a console Fallout title back before Interplay went bankrupt. Remember how bad BOS was? It was what caused them to go broke in the first place. I don't think it would've been good at all. Plus it would've retconned the fact that China's supposed to be pretty much the same as us, nuked to Hell but still surviving just barely. From the way Extreme's plot sounds, it makes it sound like China was never nuked at all.

It could be done well, if it's more like the US. The best way to get around that, is to set it in Alaska. You can still have a sizable Chinese presence and it would still be set in America.

Yeah. I would've thought it was interesting, and I still do, and if it was ever released I would definitely hope they considered it as just a spin off and nothing canon came from it. It's like Fallout 4. Take off the Fallout name and you get a decent game.

I was agreeing until those last 2 words. Extreme could be an alright spin-off based off the premise as long as it's considered noncanon yeah. Problem with FO4 is even if the Fallout name wasn't slapped on there I still don't think it would be a good game. It has some interesting places, exploring is nice, but quests and characters as a whole are more bland than stale wheat toast with styrofoam toppings. It's fun for the first 20-30 hours until you realize literally every single quest devolves to "Go here, shoot this person/these people/these animals/these mutants etc/or grab this loot from this place, then come back for a reward" and that's the whole game. I tried to like the game, I really did, but at the end of the day it's just so damn repetitive I don't even know how they managed to pull it off. They should get a reward for most bland AAA title in history. It really is an accomplishment. And keep in mind I'm one of those that actually enjoyed FO3 and Skyrim.

I know, I know, unpopular opinion.
But the reason why I think it's decent as its own game is its mechanics. It's gunplay and combat mechanics are fluid, not great, but fluid. I like shooting things with a variety of things, but I also like getting others to just leave me be, a problem which FO4 has. FO4 makes you kill everything that's hostile with no chance of a peaceful solution.

Well technically there is a peaceful solution sort of. If you have 10 in Charisma you can get a perk that lets you pacify people, but the second you put your weapon down or turn away from them they go back to being hostile, even at rank 3, so it's pretty useless. And honestly I feel gunplay and combat mechanics are better in New Vegas. Hell, I'm playing through New Vegas Bounties right now, which has the same premise as Fallout 4, "Kill, Loot, Return", but the difference is it gives me a purpose and a reason. I'm shooting and killing all these people because I've been recruited as a bounty hunter, this is my job. And a lot of the time you can even talk to your bounties and convince them to turn themselves in without a fight depending on certain perks or skills. Even a mod, made by 1 person, (that person being Someguy2000) manages to do the premise of FO4 better than triple A developers. I think it was after I beat New Vegas Bounties II and started up NVB III I realized how ridiculous it was that a mod for a game that's nearly 7 years old now is better at what it sets out to do than a game that had 7 years of development with over 100 people working on it.

The combat is shitty! I've played Farcry and that has good combat, Fallout 4 is pathetic in comparison. I don't know, many shooters fail to make killing fun, which adds Fallout 4 to that list!
