This is almost exactly what happened to me. I was so fed up I was about to abandon gaming all together, until I found this site and others like it, and the absolutely amazing games championed by them. Unfortunately, most of those kinds of games stopped being made some time ago, and it doesn't look like they will be made again anytime soon.Rosh said:By this point, the first newbie has gotten so jaded, so disillusioned with the company, they no longer on reflex believe the company's lies when the PR puppet comes out for a show. They no longer can, after having been defending the company for some time, and been called at every point.
They are no longer so foolish, because by this time they have enough scars from being used by the company PR.

Mount & Blade will present the best third-person real-time sword combat ever made in an RPG this year, and Broken Hourglass and AoD might well bring great classic quality.

Looks like I'll have to make another ebay run then. Besides, I still want Planescape: Torment, and thanks to Rosh, Daggerfall as well.Brother None said:Indies still innovate or bring quality. Yeah, Mount & Blade is a good combat simulator, but as a game it is pretty empty. I'm probably doing a preview for GameBanshee soon, and while I consider the mods important, they don't really excuse the game. But hell, even sans mods the game is good enough. But empty.

RCM makes things a lot more challenging, provided you set the damage to full. It is a bug release right now, with a few patches, but it's one of the most promising mods out there.
The game is pretty empty still, and ONR has a lot of work to be done in that area, but the combat in there fantastic.
