Let's Speculate!

I'm kinda thinking Area 51 is going to be involved, it oozes Retro and Cool, and well all know Bethesda loves things to be cool.

I suggested it as well but I would prefer it to be used very very carefully, not loads of laser guns, aliens and flying saucers.

As a friend of mine suggested, what if when you finally find the place it is in the same state as the Glow?
A bombed out surface airbase with no indication that anything survived.

Only later you might learn of this deep underground Vault like bunker.

All I can say is PLEASE DON'T FUCK IT UP, OBSIDIAN.

After all the crap the series has gone through, most recently the disappointing Oblivion 2: Electric Post-Apoc Boogaloo, the series is in need of a worthy installation.

We've got the right people working on it this time, at least.

UnidentifiedFlyingTard: Well everyone knew about area 51 so it's a safe bet that it was hit (not sure to what extent)

You should remember that one of the best tools avilable to a Russian agent in cold war was subscribing to different newspapers. A trained operative could catch a lot from just a report of drunken brawl of soldiers from xxx base.

Then again with so much publicity, it may have been discarded as a red herring too :D

Everyone knows about Area 51 now, but I don't think it was that well known in the 1950s or in the Fallout universe.

Well if Area 51 is in it, the possibility that Obsidian does something more creative with it is bigger than if Bethesda had handled it.

Most likely it would have been pretty much in Pre War condition and full of Enclave troops and vertibirds.

Is this what you meant?

In case you are serious.

Bethesda would most likely have made it a military base in Pre War state, full of vertibirds and trigger happy Enclave soldiers.

Van Buren was set in 2253, so this time period would be convenient if they wanted to use the VB materials.

possible reckless and naive speculation here...but does anybody...or has anybody wondered if "Van Buren Redux" is what J.E. Sawyer pitched to Bethie?

Even if he did, New Vegas certainly isn't it.

because it's too expansive to fit in a year's worth of production, or what? yeah. maybe just a part of Van Buren? i just can't imagine all that work those guys put into VB...then having a chance like this and not letting at least a big part of VB finally see the light.

also, 404 error on yr link there.

DN4E??? Ahh yes, my grandgrandgrand children will be playing it. I am sure.
Edit: Umm T. is working on it? Thats a joke right? I mean that game...

"Working" +"Duke nukem Forever"
Ahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahaa "ha".
That made my day.

Ontopic:
I find myself to be rather exited because of NV.
even after i tried to convince myself not to be exited as you can get very dissapointed. aaah...screw it.

This game will probably be BETTER than fallout 3, assuming beth keeps their incompetent hands away from the game design, and assuming it doesnt end up being a pile of bugs.
even AP is intresting, and it looks good.

Actually, as JE Sawyer said in the Bethesda forum, while T-Ray drew the FO1 Vault Boys, Brian Menze, who is currently at Obsidian, drew the new FO2 ones.

I'm also going to speculate that the game will be like Fallout 3, feature an improved SPECIAL system, have way awesomer dialogue and have good voice acting for that dialogue.

I honestly can't wait for it, it's going to be good, hopefully. I'll buy it just because I have this gut feeling its going to be a spiritual successor to Fallout2.

OH PLEASE GOD LET IT BE!!!

Hmm, voice acting, I'm going to make a voice demo that showcases my voices, so maybe I will send it to Obsidian (or however you audition), it would pretty fucking cool to hear my voice in a video game.

Unfortunately, stuff like voice acting will likely be done at Bethesda, not at Obsidian.
