Login Names: A look at our origins.

Well the Briosa thing came from the way a football team i support is known, it represents the university i study and it has a certain charisma none other has, besides that since it doesn`t win nothing relevant for many years i feel fine suporting it, i`m normally allways on the side of the underdog, specially if it has great undergrad girl students and noisy bohemians as suporters :D

But the first time i`ve used it was in a Quake2 deathmatch Lan game, many years ago. I was using another nick when i joined the game the score was something like (something like that, i don`t really remember it obviously) 9,12, 0,2,10,12,21,28. When i left it was like 14,18,1,3,14,28,34. My score was 26. Since i suck at everything FPS the other guys were really really bad... The guy that was leading had as a nick eaglefreak, because of another football team. I thought changing mine would give me luck. It didn`t since i still suck at those games but i liked the nick anyway, so when i registered at NMA (i was a long time lurker) i used it and found out that it was really unique, no one else in the world was using it, so i kept it ( i have a couple of other nicks though).

And the fact that once someone told me that Briosa had to be something from a medieval-fantasy world just showed how strange it sounds to non-portuguese, and that`s good enough for me :)

My sig is from irc where someone rapped out this hardcore rhyme and since it was pretty ill I put it in my sig.

Dealers keep dealin'
Thieves keep thievin'
Whores keep whorin'
Junkies keep scorin'

Hm. I think I know those lyrics. Hey, isn't that from a Primal Scream song?

yes? mabye

Hm. I checked the Primal Scream thing and I'm right. It's from one of their songs called 'Rocks', you'd probably recognize it if you heard it, I think it was like the only real hit they ever had. Anyway, here are the lyrics:

Rocks

Dealers keep dealin'
Thieves keep thievin'
Whores keep whorin'
Junkies keep scorin'
Trade is on the meat rack
Strip joints full of hunchbacks
Bitches keep bitchin'
Clap keeps itchin'

Bridge
Ain't no use in prayin'
That's the way it's stayin', baby
Johnny ain't so crazy
He's always got a line for the ladies
(yeah, yeah, yeah)

[Chorus]
Get your rocks off
Get your rocks off, honey
Shake it now now
Get'em off downtown
Get your rocks off
Get you rocks off, honey
Shake it now now
Get'em off downtown

Creeps keep crawlin'
Drunks keep fallin'
Teasers keep teasein'
Holy joes are preachin'
Cops keep bustin'
Hustlers keep hustlin'
Death keeps knockin'
Souls are up for auction

Repeat bridge and [Chorus] (2x and fade to end)

Did you know that there is a monster called "mohrg" in D&D? According to monster manual, it's a reanimated unrepenting villain who is filled with hate and envy for everything that is alive.

What? I thought you wanted to know.

What are you doing with those scissors?

Whoa, stand back!

No, NO! AAAAH!!! (*splat, splat, yummie*)

Ratty

A few years ago my former nick just popped into my head (SoNic:RoGue) but afte a while I was tired of it and couldn't find a better one so I just shortened it to SoNR, which I believe to be better... Hmm..It could also stand for So Not Real..Or sonar or something...

To keep the thread going: Where did you sig and av come from?

My avatar is from "V for Vendetta", one of my favorite graphic novels. No reason for it beyond me thinking it looks pretty cool.

I was born, and my brother picked my name.

True story. And interesting as well.

My name is Tromboner because that's what I am. It's an old nickname from grade school band class. When I got my first AIM account I punched in "Tromboner666" but, sadly, it was taken, so I figured I'd try a little reverse action (999) and that's how it's been ever since. Yeah. My avatar is totally generic and my sig quote is from a 90's flick called Empire Records, featuring Liv Tyler and some other people who can't act.

Fascinatin' story, isn't it.

--Th' Boner

My avatar was from a nifty print I found online. Fully blow out, he's holding a shotgun and Uzi. I was bored of my old avatar, a cowboy leaning against a post.

"-Courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Gunslinger" is a nod to Stan Lee who often refers to his brainchild, Spiderman, as the friendly neighborhood webslinger.

"Keep you doped with religion, and sex, and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see"
Is from the John Lennon song, Working Class Hero. John's awesome, just a little homage to the former Beatle.

"Jai guru deva om" is from the Beatle's song Across the Universe. Some argue over the translation but Paul states that it means "Long live guru Dev." Dev was their Maharishi's teacher. And Om is the natural harmony of the world.[/i]

Honestly, I don't recall myself. I'm always saving images for the sole purpose of avatars or wall paper. It's habit. I'd be happy to send the full image of it to you, however.

I have many, many aliases. I started as Sparx002 on AIM, Hotmail (also from the pre-spam era,) and MSN Messenger. I used to play a game with my friends where I was always a character named Sparx, sometimes Sparxx. My favorite number is 2, and Sparx02 was taken already, so I just added a zero hoping no one would mistake me for a 007 imitator. Then for a while I was bbquist49022 on AIM, after my favorite skater Bob Burnquist and some numbers from God-knows-where. Then I went to get a new screenname on AIM, but all the ones I really wanted were taken, so I put tuiR2Bf. Tui is latin for 'you,' and then it's read 'are to be,' and then 'f***ed.' It was directed at AIM. I had tried nearly twenty names so I was a little peeved. I am still tuiR2Bf on AIM, and I became tuiR2Bf2@[blah].com when I got internet access. At one point I posted a story on fanfiction.net under the pseudonym Bong-O-Licious. That made for an amazing number of Bong-O-Licious-related screennames, at GameFAQs, Hotmail, KaZaA, and probably others. Then my GameFAQs Bongolicious[blah] bit the dust. So I rose again as CynicalOptimist02. CynicalOptimist came from school, and a little bit of my life's philosophy, and then the 2 thing again.
My most random-seeming names are probably Monray Islav and Mialdor Varrebonstyn. Monray was what a friend of mine called me once, and it stuck. I worked a code around it and my last name became Islav. Mialdor Varrebonstyn is an anagram for my first, middle, and last names. Mialdor900 came about because of this, and at the time, I was the 900th registered user on this forum, so there you go. My avatar is just the Fallout guy dressed as a hippy with pot and bongs, reminiscent of my Bong-O-Licious days. My sig is the result of pure sloth.

Oh, and the whole Mr. Pussy thing? I think I might know something about it. If I remember correctly, Kharn here posted something on one of the threads, making a reference to sex. Another user replied "What, did you finally get some?" This was in turn replied by Kharn with "Yes. I am the mastuh of pussah!" This, I believe, is how Kharn became became Mr. Pussy. But I could just be horribly, horribly confused. We may never know for certain.
