Lonesome Road speculation

I really hope this means I can take ED-E with me.

(and what does this possibly mean for the Ulysses/companion thing)

Good thing they did with Ulysses the same thing they did with Cass.
She supports the NCR, but she's not part of their forces, nor blind follow them.

Ulysses seems to be the same, he has an afinity with the Legion, but that's all.

The Whitley =/ Whitely argument has shown up all over Vault wiki. Am I the only one who thinks it could be a simple typo?

In the OWB holotapes, it's revealed that Ulysses believes the other forms of order in the Mojave have failed miserably. As quotetheraven90 mentioned above, he likely sampled each faction before making a decision, which would show a strong parallel to an Independent Courier.

I doubt this will happen, but I think it would be nice if the DLC was only accessible after a certain point in the main story; it would be interesting to see how the Courier's favored form of society contrasts with Ulysses's.
 
God damn you all. All this speculation is getting me more and more hyped. I gotta' give it to you people, some of these speculations sound pretty solid.

The part about the Courier delivering a package to the Divide before the beginning of NV is my favourite, though.
 
I have a funny idea. What if the dlc starts with Nash in Primm giving you a package to deliver, and when you reach your destination, Ulysses ambushes you, shoots you in the head, and drags you to the beginning area of the divide, leaving a note to meet him at the end. Just to fuck with you. I doubt it'd happen, but it's a neat idea.

I'd rather they do as much as they can before releasing it rather than making a half-assed attempt at it and releasing it early.

It's already completed. They're only delaying its release because they think it will sell better if they do.
 
I get the feeling that maybe ED-E will be the source/relay of Ulysses's initial message to the Courier, but that can't be right..

It'll probably be another radio signal, just like all the other DLC.

Yeah, you're probably right.

Unrelated, but, does anyone know if there is any specific reasoning as to why the player cannot normally bring companions along for DLC, or is it just an issue of game balance?

You're taking the saying too literally, no need to be a smart-ass.

In this context, what I was trying to say was that the more time and effort you put into something the better the end result tends to be.
 
They sorta implied that's not the case though.

We just wanted to drop in here and let you know that due to circumstances beyond our control, Lonesome Road won’t be out this month. This isn’t due to any major issue with the code or content, but there are lots of factors involved in releasing these things, and one of those is causing us to slip past our intended release date.

To me that sounds like it's not being delayed because they felt like doing some more polish, but rather for some other unspecified reason, could be marketing putting down a veto on too frequent releases or w/e.
 
My god what am i going to do waiting for this to come out. Every time i go near my console i get reminded of lonesome road and how i have to wait a month to get it. During the delay of OWB i played FO3 and its dlcs and that wasnt the most fun and i DONT want to endure that again.

Writing specific bits of dialogue and re-hiring VAs are just two issues with allowing "core" companions to tag along. Also, DM, HH and OWB already have companions.

On the topic at hand, would anyone else love to see an Elijah style alternate ending with Ulysses?
