Mad Max 4: Fury Road

The Vault Dweller

always looking for water.
Mad Max: Fury Road is now in the early stages of pre-production. This will be the fourth installment in the series that began with Mad Max and was continued by Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome. To maintain setting it too will be filmed in Australia:

Aussie film director George Miller says pre-production work will start next week on the latest Mad Max film, which is to be produced in New South Wales.

Thirty years after the release of the original Mad Max, Miller is preparing to head out west for Fury Road - the fourth installment of the popular franchise.

Filming on Fury Road will begin in NSW in August 2010.

Casting for the lead role is already underway, but the big question is whether Mel Gibson is set to return as the star.

Miller is staying tight-lipped about who he would like to take the lead.

Special thanks to Dutch of
Duck and Cover for this news.

Wasn't this already scrapped year or two ago? Then they decided to do animated Mad Max 4 or something?

It did get scrapped a year or so ago.. But obviously the animated MM4 is not going to happen (thank gawd).

Fuck Mel Gibson.

Seems like the week of the post-apocalyptic movies.

Hitman's director will also be working on a PA movie titled "The Fallout".

No relation tot he game series apparently.

With a collective of ‘End of the World’ movies hitting the theatres presently, this film will undoubtedly stand out like a ravenous Pit bull in a school playground… brace yourselves cause this film has a serious bite to it!”

Yeah I did a double take when I read there was a PA movie called Fallout coming out.... but no it's not our fallout (After seeing Hitman this is not really a bad thing, though). Frontier(s) was a pretty darn good flick though, so it's not like all hope is lost. But it'll probably just be a torture porn set in a dystopian New York (Anyone else hope they never remake Escape From New York?)

Anyway, it's good to hear something I actually like about Fury Road for once. This film has been paved on bad ideas and misfortune. A CGI film? Nah. An Anime? NO THANK YOU. That freaking war down in south africa was the final nail in the coffin for a long time. Wasn't Heath Ledger cast during this try at production? Not as Max, but as the dude Max, I guess, passes the torch to?

And whatever happened to the Mad Max game. One of the main God of War developers left Sony to form his own studio and make a mad max game. Seeing a Mad Max game with GoW style gameplay would suck, sure, but think about how much GoW influenced the beat-em up brawler games.

Ah well, I'm really rooting for Fury Road to be the badass PA adventure story we all know it CAN be, but in the meantime The Road looks pretty damn good.

lol, Book of Eli looks like ass.

Ohhh man! I thought it'd be cool!

Edit:
I thought Heath Ledger was going to be cast as Max's son?

Heath Ledger's dead.

I remember hearing about this fail a few years ago too, here is to hoping it survives.

Dark Legacy, I decided to 1up your speedtest.net result. eh eh eh

He's a crazy SOB but he does well when that's his role in movies. Mel needs to play Max, it just wouldn't be right without him.

God of War is extremely overrated, Devil May Cry is a superior series (2 obviously excluded) and I see little that it could offer to a Mad Max game.

I don't expect much from the sequel given that it's been 24 years since a Mad Max movie has been released and I fear that the franchise might end up in the same place as Terminator. Sequelitis is a nasty thing.

Mel Gibson is Mad Max, still traveling the roads after twenty years, in a souped-up wheelchair :P

Mel is to old for the role if you ask me. But without Mel its not a Mad Max movie.

And as Garlic said. I fear it will be a "fast trash for a few bugs" movie like Terminator 3+4.

I can see it now:

Shortly after releasing Mad Max 4 the movie, Bethsoft acquires game rights and releases the next tie-in GOTY title:

Well, the cars look pretty cool for all 0:20 they show them. The one with the super-huge blower is kind of reminiscent of FO2.
