Mass Effect 2

Don't you guys get it? This is a form of DRM. By selling you a crippled game out of the box, EA/BioWare force you to connect to their network to download the missing functionality. Expect more shit of this sort in the future. In fact, expect it to get worse.

Yeah, that's an attempt to get rid of the piraty.
As if those people with cracked games don't know how to crack the DLC. The only people who suffer from this are those, how bought their game legally.

Yeah like paying for Mappacks in COD modern warfare 2?

hehe  , true.

Seriously guys, i HATE DLC's, look at this (DELETED LINK)
for those who didint get it, the guy is selling Point Lookout and The Pitt addon for R$ 109 (thats about 60 US dollars). Thats outrageous.!!!

EDIT: nevermind, some fool bought it, the link is no more

@Mods: Just an FYI, I wasn't playing the pirated version (Downloading 2xDVDs on this connection? Hah). Bunch of stores down here broke street date. This particular copy came from Walmart.

I wasn't aware it was in violation of forum rules to discuss a game before street-date, even though it was purchased retail. Deleting my posts was a dick move, as there wasn't a single sentence that pertained to anything but ME2's gameplay.
We don't delete posts, we vat them. I'd think people would know that by now.
And the assumption is that when a game is talked about several days before release, it's been pirated. We're pretty strict on piracy talk here. You could've (and just did) said you'd found a retail copy initially.

I can't even find words for how retarded that is. I hate this new trend. if I buy a game, I pay full price for a full game. I shouldn't have to pay extra for missing content. aren't there laws to stop this bullshit?
No, unless they advertise that the stuff they're selling as DLCs is actually in the full game. It's not like they're doing something wrong, they create a product, then allow people to buy extras if they want to. It's a pretty simple proposition.
I mean, you're pissed because you want to pay full price for a full game? So everything would be fine if they just offered you the game without the DLCs, and then offered no one the DLCs either?

A review is up on Gametrailers but I don't recommend anyone watch it because the fuckers spoiled the shit out of the game's intro. It got something close to 10.

The DLC is obviously to prevent people from pirating and to get people to buy new copies at full price. They probably could have included that stuff on the disc and I'm sure that most day-one DLC's were just taken out of the game in order to be sold as DLC's. However, as long as the game doesn't suffer, I understand them trying to protect their product.

You want something to be outraged by, look at Namco's DLC. They sell unlock codes for stuff that's already on the disc you buy.

IMO, the most outrageous DLCs were in Dragon Age. I mean, adding in "human posts" ingame just to advertise DLCs is bullshit, I don't want ads while I'm playing the game.

Bullshit. It's a great way to integrate the DLC with the story. Though one should be able to turn it off, that I can agree with.

first, now that I realize the DLC is free I have no problem with it. if they do that as a means of checking for legit copies, then that's fine with me. I'd rather have it this way than have it install some intrusive software on my computer.

but Dragon Age offered you to buy DLC's that seemed like they were supposed to be in the game. on two occasions I started having a dialogue with a person and as I was about to accept their quest, I realize I have to pay money to go further. that's a really cheap shot if you ask me. offering additional content after release is one thing, making you feel like you're not getting the full experience without paying extra is a whole other deal. I read somewhere you even get some sort of stash for all your loot with one of the DLC's in Dragon Age, which was sorely needed in the original game. hell, all the loot and the inventory being a hassle is one of the main reasons I didn't enjoy the game and stopped playing.

you know they're just gonna get bolder as long as they get away with it. expansions and DLC's in all honor, but don't make me feel like I didn't get what I paid for.

I don't know how it was on the PC , but on the xbox you had a free download code for that DLC in every package of the game. So it's the same as now in ME2.

For the Stone Guardian, yeah, but not Warden's Keep.

Some NPC advertised even the Warden's Keep DLC ingame?
Ok, I didn't know that. Which NPC was it?

I don't care that much about DLC... it's the nature of the beast now, thanks to console gaming.

The DLC that burns my ass is when you buy some DLC, and it's about 102kb big.... you basically buy a text file that unlocks content on the damned disc (I'm looking at you Street Fighter 4).

IIRC, there was a random guy at the camp.

Or a way to turn it on, say by downloading the relevant DLC.

THIS. It's not bullshit. Maybe I don't want any of the DLCs. I don't need to be reminded of them, or of the fact that the company wants to milk some extra money off me. The relevant tie-in NPCs can be added in later just as easily. Remember Icewind Dale's tie-ins for HoW and TotL?

Well said. Although I personally prefer expansions to DLCs, because you get a lot more bang for your buck, but sadly the age of expansions seems to be mostly over. Where are the good old days BEFORE some dick figured it was a good idea to charge money for minor DLC content that has always been free?

I didn't really like mass effect 1 so much. I might not pick this one up if the combat isnt improved. Usually I don't care for things like combat but mass effect put me off completely for some reason. Some say I had to play more though and get further into the game to enjoy it. Meh...

There's one thing that has me completely confused, [spoiler:bd5a5cf681]Besides nailing Tali and still not getting to see her face (fuck you Bioware)[/spoiler:bd5a5cf681]
[spoiler:bd5a5cf681]oh, lawlz. well, i guess that was coming sooner or later. just because you couldn't have her (and the fact she was far more interesting than Ash & Liana combined) probably made it nigh impossible for BioWare not to exploit that in ME2...

i guess next step for ME3 is that you can have a harem by using your charm skill on all girls, instead of having to choose a single one![/spoiler:bd5a5cf681]

I would agree with this point. DLC's absence must not be felt in the original game.

well, combat is definitely improved. guess it depends on what you didn't like with the combat in ME1 though.

the game really is better in every single way so far. I loved ME1 but it had its issues. it's been a long time since I was so satisfied with a game as I am with ME2.
