Mass Effect 2

well i loved the mako in mass effect 1.

i don't think i gonna buy mass effect 2 for now.

they changed too much the gameplay for my taste .
now it is IMHO a perfect clone of gears of
whatever. bulletts and ammo and
less skills in the character menu.

too " shooterish " for me.
the roleplay and exploration elements are dumbed down IMHO. and it is not good IMHO.

Don't you guys get it? This is a form of DRM. By selling you a crippled game out of the box, EA/BioWare force you to connect to their network to download the missing functionality. Expect more shit of this sort in the future. In fact, expect it to get worse.

Yeah like paying for Mappacks in COD modern warfare 2?

Yeah, that's an attempt to get rid of the piraty.
As if those people with cracked games don't know how to crack the DLC. The only people who suffer from this are those, how bought their game legally.

hehe  , true.

Seriously guys, i HATE DLC's, look at this (DELETED LINK)
for those who didint get it, the guy is selling Point Lookout and The Pitt addon for R$ 109 (thats about 60 US dollars). Thats outrageous.!!!

EDIT: nevermind, some fool bought it, the link is no more

i h.a.t.e. DLC too.

i never buy DLC. i prefer getting old
games or getting new ones from malls instead of
paying for things which are supposed to be in the game
disk but they " modified " for selling on marketplace.

this is another reason for not having me buy that game.

i h.a.t.e. this kind of things about DLC and DRM stuff.

sorry for bad english.

Basically, I found the combat in ME on PC to be cumbersome and overly difficult. I found, now that I'm playing it on 360, that in this instance, the controller offers a better "feel" for me than the mouse/keyboard did.

I'm surprised though, as I loathe shooters on the console, but in the case of ME, I'm finding that the controller seems to be what it was desgined for.

The flip side of this is that I have Dragon Age on my PS3, and can't stand the combat... I wish I had a PC that could run that game.

I kind of like third person games with a controller more as well now that I think about it. I'll probably get it for 360 then.

Yes. Damn those folks for selling extra content! DAMN THEM!!!

You must've hated expansion packs, too.

Also, I'm curious as to how there's less roleplaying and exploration. Seems virtually identical to me, the main change is in the combat and inventory system (and I like it better this way, the previous game was an inventory mess).

I've never got the "I don't buy DLC as it should have been in the game."

DLC is just the modern name for "expansion pack." Some DLC is a rip-off (I'm looking at you horse armour) and some is well worth it (Ballad of Gay Tony). Expansion Packs were the same.

At some point in a game development cycle the team needs to stop adding in new stuff, and just work on finishing the game. DLC allows developers to give a bit more to those who want it.

However, garbage like DLC on the same day that a game is released is utter bullshit.

It's not. Expansion packs are usually full-fledged games, whether standalone or not, with game time close to or equal to the full game. DLCs rarely offer more than a fraction of that experience.

I've played very few expansions that offer a "full game" experience.

While DLC offers a fraction of the experience, they often cost a mere fraction of a full game as well.

I think that things like "Bring Down the Sky" and "Warden's Keep" more than justify their cost.

Now, $10 map packs? I'll rage with you about that.

Supreme Commanders expansion does, as do the Dawn of War ones. Its becoming something of a rarity though. (Also, though technically not a expansion, i'd be willing to say Crysis Warhead is as well)

DLCs are also a fraction of the price of expansion packs, which used to be about half the price of a new game.

And besides that, there used to be great expansion packs and near worthless expansion packs, too.

I don't mind DLC and download them, as long as I don't need to pay for this. Like those "first day" DLC that came together with ME2 - I'm fine with that. Additional Content, like new characters, weapons, armors etc don't bother me, but I understand that some people want more and more and more of the game. ;)

So, DLC aren't that devilish, imo.

EDIT: Just a little sidenote, I found this quite funny and wanted to share. ;)

i agree. the expansion pack was something you were not forced to buy back in the old days.

now they cut content of modern games on all PC and consoles
in order to make you buy the " unexplained " mission
or part or whatever . Another example is Assassin 's Creed 2
and i don' t even have AC2 . And again
what about Resident Evil 5 ?

i h.a.t.e. that kind of behaviour.

sorry for bad english.

There are quite a few attempts at humor in the Citadel in ME2, and some of them are actually successful. Whoever wrote that area was obviously having fun. My favorite example is when Shepard coerces a storekeeper into giving him a discount by standing outside the store and yelling about their discrimination against poor people. I think I found it amusing because it was so out of place.

The difference between cut content and content later added is only in your head, and not present in practice.

Eh, bit juvenile. I dislike how every single store in the game can be intimidated into giving you a discount. Sometimes it amounts to no more than 'I'm Shepard, I deserve a discount!' 'Oh okay then', or 'Your prices are expensive!' 'Oh I'll make them cheaper then!'.

All of the background conversations in that area are pretty well done, though. Lots of NPC-to-NPC talk that actually has some content.

I thought the couple arguing about what genetic modifications their baby will get to be pretty damn funny.

Especially when the woman yells out "Why don't I just ask some random stranger walking by huh?"

Having played the first game, I giggled a bit.

The game store attendant is pretty funny too.

Well, sometimes, maybe you're right. I don't really have anything against those kinds of DLC. On the other hand, quite often recently, the devs make the game purposefully feel "incomplete" so that the crowd is compelled to buy DLCs. That I can't stand.

One other thing I cannot understand - why cut something from the game if you can put it in (other than money-grabbing)? I mean, it's one thing if the DLC is extra content that was developed for a popular game after its release, but it's another if they're released concurrently, or almost at the same time. That's bullshit.

It's not bullshit, it's called a business. This isn't a charity service.

There's a difference between honest business and advertising, and selling a product that's lacking in order to be able to sell related products and services.

How is it lacking, exactly? Again: the difference between pulled content and content later added is only in your mind. They use their games as an advertising platform, though, sure. Do you think TV channels advertising their programming are also being dishonest?

And apparently, the approach might be working. The best way to stop this sort of thing is to just not spend any money on it.

Ok, I just finished the game and I really whish there is more to explore, more to absorb from this really great atmosphere.

I better put the end game stuff in spoiler tags tho'.

[spoiler:da8ec35040]I needed 57 hours, everyone survived the so called "suicide mission". I played the crap out of the game, discovered every cluster/system/planet and scanned the planets for ressources/sidequests. Upgraded everything etc, then flew to this Omega 4 thingy. While the end was a bit too "epic" for me (what the fuck was wrong with them doing such a crappy end boss?) it still get's me thrilled and I want to get more of this game. They really know how to keep players at the hand. Dang - I'm willing to buy some DLC if they are good![/spoiler:da8ec35040]

I would go so far and say, that this is the best game I've played in the last 4-5 years. I really hate shooters, but this is the first game I liked and enjoyed the combats. I don't want to begin that this is a RPG - it isn't. It's more a hybrid or something, or just a typical BioWare Game, but really well done. There is so much dialogue in it, you can discover so many things about the universe, the ambience is nice (remember this? this song is stucking in my head :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrqRD3M2Klg ). This area at the Omega Station i.e is really amazing. In the end they just have one map, with borders, static NPC etc, but they do their job really nice with ambience effects, grafics, lighting to let you think that you're visiting a fucking huge space station built in an asteroid. At Immersion - they're really good imo.
