Max Payne movie trailer

Ya know. It actually doesn't look terrible.
As mentioned before tho'. Hitman looked pretty good and it turned out to be a train wreck.

Samurai sword wielding Hitman wars.

It doesn't take much to fuck up something you actually do care about.

I dismissed this when I first heard about it, but after seeing that trailer I'm pretty excited and cautiously optimistic. The whole diving backwards with the shotgun bit was rad, as well as the seemingly high body count.

You thought the Hitman trailer looked good? What the fuck?

I was pretty stoked about Hitman.

I still like it in a "wow, this is fucking awful" sort of way. It's very much an MST3K-worthy movie. Oh, and it does have Olga Kurylenko's tits...

It looks surprisingly good. And Mila Kunis looks just like Mona Sax did in the first Max Payne.

Your thoughts?

Not the worst of trailers, but it makes it even more obvious Wahlberg is a really, really shitty choice for Max Payne. Especially once you realise Max is modelled after Sami Järvi, and if you look at Järvi you'll notice he has that distinct square, lean face, while Wahlberg always wafts chunkiness. Anyone saw him in that godawful flick, Truth About Charlie? Pure chunkiness. Not that he is chunky, but emanates it.

And I didn't care much for how Sax looked in the first game. Her ethereal beauty in the second was much more expressive of The Self. Also, Mila Kunis has consistently proven she can't act, as is the case for almost 100% of the That's 70's Show cast surprisingly (you'd expect there to be at least one decent actor amongst the lot, but meh). I have some serious doubts about her ability to play a convincing killer.

Still, they got the style down pat.

Mila Kunis was terrific in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but I haven't really seen her in anything else.

Topher Grace was also one of the few redeeming qualities of Spider-Man 3. I still say he should have been cast as Peter Parker from the get-go.

Uh....really?

As Venom?

VENOM?!

I can't say his dorky Peter Parket-clone veneer worked well in convincing me this was friggin' Eddie Brock here.

One of the many weak points of the film. And Topher just played the same character as he did in That's 70s. That does not scream "strong actor" to me. One-sided actors, as far as I'm concerned, are not actors. In your face, Morgan Freeman.

But, dude, Morgan Freeman is your fuckin' mentor, dude!

Topher Grace pissed me off in Spidey 3, sorry dude.

This looks great.. but I'll miss the guy that did the voice for max payne's voice..

I didn't think hitman was bad at all. It wasn't spectacular but it sure wasn't pure shit either.

Afraid not. I went in having no expectations and I came out with no disappointments.

With so few good video game movies out (the only ones I've ever enjoyed were Final Fantasy (both Advent Children and Spirits within), and the first Resident Evil movie was a decent zombie flick.

This actually looks decent.

I only saw it once, but I remember digging Topher Grace. I get what you're saying in that they made Brock a clone of Parker. I guess it just made me wish Grace had been cast as Parker from the get go. I fucking hate Tobey Maguire.

I don't think Morgan Freeman is a one-sided actor, I just think people think of him as such. Freeman in Robin Hood is nothing like Freeman in Driving Miss Daisy. Freeman in Unforgiven is nothing like Freeman in The Shawshank Redemption, Batman Begins, Gone Baby Gone, or The Bucket List. While he is indeed "known" as the "old wise black dude" his range is much wider.

I always think it's a real shame that there aren't any movies starring Freeman as a younger man. His film career didn't start until he was in his mid forties - it would've been interesting to see some flicks with a twenty-something Morgan Freeman.

I s'pose he's not bad, he's just really miscast for those people who know and like Venom.

Tobey Maguire pretty much is Topher Grace. Same lankiness, same dorkiness, so apart from your personal tastes, the casting is fine.

So in which one of those films does he play anything other than old wise black dude, exactly? I haven't seen all of 'em, but Robin Hood, Driving Miss Daisy, Unforgiven, Shawshank and Batman Begins are all old wise black dudes.
