Was that an edited character, at the start of the game? I half remember something that stopped you scoring critical hits for the first day of game time, or something like that. (The plus side being that no-one can score criticals against you, either.)

MM and sfall updated to latest versions.

1: minor bug:
when talking to harodl about hydro-magneto-whatewerlator and selecting chat option "where do you get your fuel from?" - leaves the chat screen

2: still trying to move a bit faster on the world map. but it is still extremely slow (even tho map speed was changed from 66 down to 1) travelling from den to modoc takes about 4 minutes. and for some reason i feel that my fps are rather low (i would say roughly around 10) and it is the case only on the world map.
PC that i am using is rather slow (600mhz cpu and matrox millenium graphic card) but it is more than enough to run fallout. (yah i know it is crap but my previous machine got thunderused by a thunderstorm)

3: major bug. Encounters wth kaga (he is wearing leather armour now) game crashes wherever combat ends. no error messege
 
*sigh* your roach animations is still badly broken... unfortunately my fixed animations was gone too because i forgot to backup half of it's files... so i need to do it again.
 
just updated to 2.4.1 for unfortunately saves from 2.4 do not work for some reason :(

raoches are still SLOW...
same goes for my map traveling :(

guess i have to start all over again.

you can change map travel speed every time you want. go to ddraw.ini and set WorldMapDelay2 to lower value. But pesonally i prefer old worldmap speed controls that works if you disable WorldMapFPSPatch

Also i'll fix cockroach attack speed and moving offsets very soon

The problem with Skynet sentrybot's combat dispositions is in his scipt, WCBRNBOT.
I replaced it with Myron's just to test and it worked.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to decompile it to have a look, but from an older version I found this:

That adds AI packet 31 (Security Bot), doesn't it. If so that is the problem. That line gotta go.

Also, 585 (Lenny as human) is not added into master.dat but is in the games proto folder.
I'm not sure this is a problem as I don't know if he gets a new base proto when he get "cured".
I haven't tested it.

As i said i had replaced animations from 2.41 it fixes constant "dance" issue that was in their script but they still jumpy, and firing animations was slow. I fixed movement and now they fire much faster.
I had different firing animations before, but now this is MM2.41 stuff
 
you also have to delete all the march2 * .fr0 - fr5,otherwise they will continue to do the same loop

using the art is totaly MIB88's decision

What do you mean with edited character? I started the game and created new character and after some time I noticed that I don't score any critical hits. I didn't noticed it in beginning, but later is very obvious. So I reinstalled megamod and used old saves, still no criticals. I reinstalled and started new game - I then used editor (F2se) to set my luck to 10 and give myself a sniper perk. Instead of getting criticals all the time, I get none. Unfortunately it is not first day of game time, it was around november already in my game without criticals :( But you are right, no one scores critical either. Any idea how to fix it?
 
I can't seem to get 2.41 installed properly. I'm starting from scratch - I didn't even have Fallout 2 installed on this hard drive. Fallout 2 vanilla works, i.e. I can create a new character and save my game. Megamod 2.35.2, I can create a new character and save my game. Ditto for Megamod 2.4. But when I install 2.41, as soon as I create a new character, I get a white screen and a crash with this error message: http://i48.tinypic.com/25klnyb.jpg

These are the 3 Megamod files I have:

Here are the steps I am taking (tried this 3 times now, naming the directory a different thing each time):

1. Install Fallout 2 on Humongous install

2. Delete Data folder

3. Delete patch000.dat

4. Test whether it runs and will create new characters

5. Unpack Megamod 2.35

6. Copy files into Fallout 2 folder

7. Test whether it runs and will create new characters

8. Click RUNME.BAT

9. Test whether it runs and will create new characters

10. Unpack Megamod 2.4

11. Copy files into Fallout 2 folder

12. Test whether it runs and will create new characters

13. Extract Megamod 2.41 files directly into Fallout 2 folder with Winrar

14. Load the game, create a new character and it crashes

15. Click runfirst.bat

16. Load the game, create a new character and it crashes


All the proto files are read-only.

Am I doing something wrong?

After you install 2.41, set graphics mode to 0 (it is 4 by default). Game will work normally. I don't know why this is happening, but it is just happened to my friend on his system. When it is graphics mode 4 he encounters exactly the same error like you, and when set to 0, game working fine.

Anyway, I installed old MM 2.35.4 and critticals seems to working fine. I'll play some more to see is it Ok, but on 2.41 definitely not working on my PC - on my friend's PC it is working fine with exactly same files. I am really confused... don't know what possibly could cause criticals to stop happening?

edit: I don't understand - I used F2se to give myself a slayer perk and it is working, every hit is instant critical, like it should be. I know that sniper perk have luck roll check, but even that there should be at least some critical?

Never touched it before, but know that criticals are not working, it caught my attention :)

No, if you use WorldMapFPSPatch=0 then try to ajust settings in commented out box like:
WorldMapDelay
WorldMapFPS
WorldMapTimeMod

Works fine for me. Not sure how WorldMapDelay or WorldMapDelay2 works, but other stuff do. Very useful)
Time mod can slow down game time on worldmap, so you can travel anywhere in no time, but shops still refreshes and party members heals. Encounter rate is also a good thing) Just read descriptions for each function. Both can compensate low FPS if you ever have problems with it.

Yeah, I'm not sure entirely what the deal is here. I always use mode 4 to play the game. Perhaps this is something system dependent. Maybe it has something to do with the high resolution patch. Maybe it is something with DirectX. I really don't know.
 
Yes, I use mode 4 too, but on my friend's PC that didn't work. It could be connected to DirectX version, since I noticed his dx installations are quite messy...
