Megamod 2.43 technical issues and suggestions

    @yghern: Enjoy. More to follow, of course. ;)

    @all: There is a slight problem with the information at the top of the download page. It uses much of the same readme from version 2.35. Disregard that information, as it says that version 2.35 must also be installed. This is not the case.

    I recommend that this latest version be added to a new installation. A number of files between version 2.42 and version 2.43 had to be removed. Simply copying the files from this version over a preexisting one will not correct some bugs.

    thanks for the new version MIB

    @all = my website has the download,both manual install and windows installer,help your self,most of my megamod specific mods are compatable wityh 2.43(ive changed the version in the descriptions) a couple them are not,that only applies to the mods on the megamod page,all the scripts i wrote are compatable(not megamod download page)

    Bug

    I downloaded the mod yesterday and I couldn't seem to find any of the Fallout 1 locations except for the brotherhood bunker after giving the plans to that one guy in san fran.Do you have to unlock the fallout 1 locations? There was one other location and it was marked "unknown". when I tried to enter it, the game froze and i had to restart the game. Also, the elevators in Vault 23, i believe thats what it was called, and the BOS facility did not work when i tried to use them, i could just stand in them and nothing would happen.

    Why are you looking for Fallout 1 locations? Help me out, here.

    Approximately where on the map is the unknown location that froze your game? And did this freeze only happen once, or repeatedly?

    Vault 23 (the one with the rats)... did you get the elevator working? You don't just walk into it and have it take you where you need to go. Same thing goes with the BOS facility: there are conditions to be met.

    The reason i was looking for them is because i thought they were added into the game with the dominion mod. Also how do you use the elevators? I'm having a problem with that. And the frezing location did it more than once. It's at the bottom left area of the map.

    From the wiki:
    Dominion mod world map I.E. expands down into FO1 territory.

    The world map area. Not the locations/towns. Dominion was not completed at the time this was incorporated. Translations were completed later (and thanks to Dude101, I have most if not all of the dialog files), but I haven't included/adjusted the other files (maps, support files, quests, etc.) yet. To tell you the truth, I don't know how much more work those other files even need.

    I tested the location at the bottom left area of the map just a few minutes ago. I can't reproduce any crashes/freezes. Just to make sure about something: did you install the mod over a new install of the game? Or did you install this mod over a previous version of the Megamod?

    I played the mod for two days now. Everything is running fine, but all the time my character's perception drops slowly to 1, while my AC is rising. My radiation also sometimes rises without being in radiated areas.
    Have been using a savegame-editor to fix it, but it diminuishes the fun a little bit to do this all 10 minutes :)

    @MIB88: I think that good idea would be to do a list of *obvious* and *resolved zilliard pages ago* problems, something FAQ-like in first post of every new "new MM bug thread". Starting this thread.
    If you agree, I could work some day on it and make for you some prototype FAQ, if you like.

    @Strange Object: I bet your problem with perception drop is caused by weather mod. Delete weather.ini file in Fallout main directory or, in case you like this weather mod, just remember to do not save when there is sandstorm around.

    use http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46523to edit the perception back to normal,then delete gltrain.int from data\scripts\ folder,that is problem that causes it,and it will get rid of the weather mod messages in game

    I just realized that this bug appears only after loading a savegame, while at the moment of saving everythings fine. There's probably an error at the saving process...

    Sorry, folks. Went back through some files comparing a few things and I already have to release a patch (consisting of about 20 files). I think Nirran had a fix for that perception issue, and I forgot to include the latest file. I'll send the files to him shortly, so he can put the patch on his site as well as update the download.

    The thing to keep in mind though, in case I am wrong about the perception fix, is to stop saving during bad weather conditions. :P

    @yghern: Although you may always see me being all Scrooge-like and mean saying "This mod is mine, so there! :P", I never pass up offers for help. If you want to put something like that together, then be my guest, and I'll make sure to edit my first post and include it there. You're right, though: issues on weather, perception, sound, and a few others always are always asked every now and then.

    Sorry i didn't read the wiki page on it, i installed it on a game that had killaps restoration project installed on it, mainly to see if it worked if it didn't i would have deleted then reinstalled fallout 2. Also i need to know how do get the elevators working. This is the first time using the mod so i had some problems. I'm sorry to tell you about another: when i was in navarro when i talked to this one guy the vertibird landed, a car appeared on the map and every other map area it wasn't workable and it would follow you around but it was just a graphic not an object.

    @Nirran: Ah thank you very much, I overread your reply before, this bug's erased now :)

    Yet I came across another bug , in Valut 23 and the BOS Facility I cannot use the elevator. When stepping inside nothing happens.

    You need to set your ddraw to target elevators. Open ddraw with notepad, look for

    Code:
    ;Point at an ini file containing elevator data
    the line immediately below change to

    Code:
    ElevatorsFile=Elevators.ini
    That did it for me.

    That line is already set in the latest ddraw. But, let's make sure we are talking about the right thing and there are bugs involved:

    Regarding the BoS Bunker: I said there were conditions involved. That means you can't just go in. Quests and all, ya know? Talk to the people around the elevator. One of them might have something useful to say. If you have done the quest and it doesn't work, then there is a problem. Have you done what was asked of you?

    Regarding Vault 23: Are you actually talking about the elevator inside and not just the entrance where the shack is? If you are referring to the inside elevator, then like I said, you have to do something to get it working. If it still doesn't work after you have fixed the elevator, then yes, there is a bug. Have you fixed the elevator?

    @MIB88: I got a quest at the BOS Bunker that takes me down to the BOS facility.
    And regarding Vault 23, I'm talking about the elevator in the shack-area. Also I can walk through and behind the elevator, and I can scroll too far up so that the mountain ends and I can see normal ground.
