Megamod 2.44 Bug Reports and Suggestions

    Some problems.

    First the player Power Armor does not have an animation for climbing ladders.

    The Carson City murder quest. I found the body in the basement but only the bar patron in the southeast corner has changed dialog. Also I found the sign in the mayor's office and got the 'he's guilty' float but cannot confront him about it, the only dialog option is 'nothing new yet'.

    There is an infinite ammo bug, if I put an unloaded weapon in the trunk it's often loaded when I take it out. I think it happens when a game loads.

    I an running on Fedora 18 via Wine set to windows 98.
    I have tried reloading text, script and art files from the manual install package.

    if possible put a Linux partition on your machine and run it under Wine. No need for any hires patch.

    I'm not sure if I installed this mod right, or if combat got revamped, but for whatever reason combat feels very buggy in this mod. Instant death crits don't seem to work, I'm taking like 100 non-crit damage from burst weapons while wearing power armor and having high damage resist, and crits to the leg don't seem to knock down anyone. That's like only some of the wierd shit I've noticed.

    Can someone help?

    Delete files HS_Combatdamage.int and HS_Tohit.int from Data/Scripts folder.

    It should reset the combat modifications to vanila values.

    Did that, tested it out on some burst weapons used on me, looks like it worked. And thank god, it was getting really stupid taking like 200 non-crit damage from even the weakest burst weapons from miles away while wearing heavy armor.

    Hi

    How the hell can i got the armor for Marcus? He is in my team, im goned with him to the Military Base,asked him why he dosn't wear amor,get the vault 14 location from the computer and the megamod wiki says after this iv got a special encounter where i can pick the vault14 master key,but there is no special encounter when im exit the military base and travel on the world map(im runned at least hour on the world map but no spec encounter...why?

    I encourage everyone to NOT play this, lost several hours of gameplay just trying to make it work. In just 2 days of play, I got +10 save games corrupted, as soon as I load them I have a crash. Tried to get the habit of saving in several slots everytime, all of them became corrupted.

    To summarize, I can't see how could this even get published, the best I could say about this project is it's unplayable. So full of bugs, too much time lost. And I wish they were just bugs in quests or the like, but no, they are game-destroying bugs. How frustrating is that...

    And of course, I followed every step mentioned in every installation guide, including reticking "read-only" in all proto files,and before that executing processdat.exe, humungous installation, etc.

    It might be I am missing something that is not in the main post. If you want people to play this, either fix the bugs or recompile the current version with the fixes the community made or make the fixes visible in the first post. Otherwise you'll get negative feedback. I want to specially highlight this last thing:

    I can check out your vault 14 situation if u post a save. Usually that special encounter is found round vault 14 on worldmap

    Hey there ive got megamod running really well with the files posted here and have many hours of playtime without any problems untill now.

    I played thru military base with no issues but have since then returned with marcus to retrieve the location of vault 14. I quick travveled to the floor with the computer, whent back up the elevator and ran for the front door but unfortunatly as soon as I step on the exit square the game freezes and I'm told fallout has stopped working.

    Any thoughts on what might cause this? Ive tryed leaving behind my party, thinking they might be spawning in the pile of rubble outside the door or something. Still no luck :(

    Updated: I loaded a older save and when back to the military base this time choosing to start from the entrance. Immediatly after clicking on the "entrance" triangle from the map the game has the same crash. Thinkin the problem is with the entrance map. Guess I'll just have to put off getting marcus' armor till we can figure somethin out :(

    After all I got it to work, but sure, you could post that readme file in the fallout database folder for the megamod somewhere in shiny, bright letters. It would solve most of the problems people have in running this mod.

    Also, I've been trapped in the BOS bunker. I guess that a battle should have occurred shortly after they give you permission to go in the bunker, telling from the dialog. As I saw no shit about that I just ran into the bunker and collected quests to do. Now when I try to get out the bunker the console displays Error and the guy with the blue cap says that the BOS is victorious in battle and that I should go in to tell the general about the battle. I can't tell anyone about the battle and the same scene will replay everytime I try to get out.

    Issues with BOS are well known. Mib88 will address them in the future release of the mod.
    Before you ask, it will come out when it's done. No dates yet.

    I would avoid this location for now.

    AC armor problem is due to weather mod. Delete glsrain.int in data/scripts foder and weather.ini file in main Megamod folder.

    Just a few run around the vault 14 and I'v got the spec encounter.

    I need to ask - whats with the insane damage mechanics in this mod?

    The damage is completely randomized.
    Same enemy has shot me for 8 and then 25 with the same weapon and the turrets at SAD either hit me for no damage or for about 140 through 80 DR.

    Just now my character, wearing Adv.p. armor MKII got hit with a gauss rifle for 17 and then for 52.
    In another instance a combat armor wearing character, jacked on Psycho's had 90 DR and an enclave with gauss pistol does 7 dmg one and 38 the another.

    I suspect that the game doesnt actually check for armor or any sort of DR at the time a blow is struck.

    I always delete the ammunition proto files, as i dont like 20 MFC to weigh 5 and 10 shotgun shells to weigh 3, but ive been doing this procedure since v2.34, so i doubt it has any bearing on the issue.

    Also, can i turn instant deaths back on? It feels silly reading "death is instantaneos" or "spine clearly visible" and still have the guy kicking.

    EDIT: I just got killed by a merc captain who hit me (no critical) for 60 damage from 30 yards with a burst from assault rifle. Im wearing ADV.p. armor MKII and i have implants.
    What the actual hell?

    P.S For the life of me i cannot get Slik to give me the coins test. Ive been trying practically everything i could think of numerous times. Any help?

    I really appreciate the mod and work you have done but save bug make it just unplayable. Every time I play, game crashes when I try to load both from game and menu. I installed Drobovik's 2.44 fix but it didnt help. Currently, the error window say "The instruction at 004ef15a referenced memory at 00000100 The memory could not be read from"
    Im looking forward to your help cause this mod is just amaznig

    Maybe if either one of ya posts a savegame, I can try to point you in the right direction to fix it. A screenshot of your megamod folder is helpful as well.

    On the side note, Megamod is fairly stable nowadays. So my guess is your installation of the mod is the problem.

    Well, your gues was right. I didn't use ProcessDat2. Sometimes, I forgot what is the purpose of "Readme" file.

    Yep, readme files, readme files. Every time I right one, I hope people read it. And guess what.... most don't.:) :crazy:

    Story of every modder/translator who ever released something to the public.
