Megamod 2.44 Bug Reports and Suggestions

Good daytime.

I have two questions.
1. I haven't got vault 13 suit and Pip-boy after the temple. What's wrong?
2. I can't make saves during combat. Is it a bug, or feature?

I have installed Megamod 2.44 and a fix mentioned earlier here.

i realy enjoy geting around all the bugs, but it was well worthed.
i just have one request to you MIB88 ... please release the correction scripts for bos facility quest and if possible the fix to marcus armor too ... ehehehe
realy ... i even took the trouble of going around the entire game whithout ac points due to the weather bug xd ... but hell i love a good challenge ... lol
please consider my request ....
and also i wish to send a compliment to Nirran too, nice work on the scrip bugs you solved and helped resolve ... thx mate.

After arriving in bunker 21, my car disspears when i leave. I can drive the car out of bunker 21 but it dissapears as soon as i stop at a locaton.

I went to broken hills, still got the scene with Lumpy, but no car.

Also, is there a way i can disable the alert in navarro? I killed 3 enclave soldiers which told me "nice to see you made it back" just west of the parking spot

EDIT: even if i park car somewhere else, once i enter bunker 21 it dissapears, regardless where i had parked it.
 
For anyone who has the AC bug, and doesnt want to start again. Go find vads savegame editor. If you open up the save with the editor, underneath the stats tab, in the 'Bonus Stats' section you'll see an entry for armor class. It will probably be a large negative number, just make it 0, or whatever it should be based on your perks.

It just happened to me and i did NOT want to start again :). Hope it helps
 
Klamath Toxic Caves Gecko stuck in the wall

Fallout 2 patch 2.03 1C + MIB88_MM2.44RU.exe

Thank you for such a great work done. I have encountered small bug following "bad way" of solving Smily's the trapper problem in Klamath Toxic Caves. I have shown Saeg the Toxic Caves location, learnt Gecko skinning, arrived to the Caves and now (as i understand) i should kill all geckos in caves (i found 5 of them) and bring back their skins to "bad trappers". The problem is that 1 gecko has stuck in the wall. I tried several save editors in order to find the way to solve that problem but i've failed. Can you somehow fix it?

upd. I have taken previous saves and retried taking "bad trappers" quest from Saeg but the gecko was still in the wall in the same place as in the save enclosed.
Then i have taken the other way (to save Smily) and the geckos didn't stack in the wall.

Firstly, I loaded your save with stuck gecko. Well, couldn't find any of them stuck in the wall. All dead. Is it supposed to be alive and in the wall? Looks normal to me. Be more specific.

Secondly, I fixed the junkie error. Here is the corrected msg file. Just download and drop it into DATA/TEXT/ENGLISH/DIALOG folder, overwritting the old one. Floating text is correct in English version, it was missing couple lines in Russian though.

Ах, да. Каждый раз "угадывая" что она спит с Джози ты получаешь 200 exp. Каждый!) В этом сейве это тоже можно проверить

Еще можно предложить ей переспать снова - она откажет. Разозлить её - позовет Гемфри. После решить с ним вопрос мирно и получить за это 200 хп - но она все равно на тебя нападет. Видимо тоже баг?
Задание на убийства от Гемфри также можно проверить по этому сейву - все начинают тебя атаковать [/spoiler:c2ba13f3ef]
 
My changelog of fixed translation errors can be found in my signature. Just download all three patches and open txt files inside the archives.

I'll check the Colly stuff out, but can't promise you fixes. Im not as advanced as text and translation stuff.
 
This is the same blacked-out EPA problem reported above, but for me it happens only with any of Nirran's Mods I wrote for Megamod installed, including either of the two explicitly referenced in the MegaMod .ini files ("Mega Custom Books" and "Mr Fixit Stims)

Here is the procedure I use:

1) Humongous installation from US 1.2 CD
2) Delete PATCH0000
3) Copy megamod 2.44 contents, install/overwrite in Fallout2 installation folder
4) Run ProcessDat2
5) Copy/overwrite with Drobovik's script fixes
6) Confirm all files in Data\proto\critters and Data\proto\items are read-only (they always are, but I still check)
7) Play to EPA, save game before EPA, copy save folder, confirm EPA looks good on entry
8) Copy a Nirran MegaMod mod, overwrite conflicting previous files (tried leaving all original MM2.44 files in place instead, and of course, the mod did not take effect), and make adjustments to .ini files if applicable (ie, stimpack and book mods).
9) Set all files in Data\proto\critters and Data\proto\items to read-only
10) Load game, enter EPA, and run around in the black hole.
11) Uninstall, clear registry, and start again at step 1, but with the save file to clear the hassle of playing-through to the problem area

I have only confirmed this problem with the Books, Mr Fixit Stimpacks, and Weapons upgrade mods.

I am using Windows 7.
 
How to Skin Geckos in Fallout 2 Megamod 2.44?

Hi guys,

I've saved Smiley, he taught me the technique, the perk is visible in my stats, but I still cannot skin the geckos.

As MIB88 advised, I've done the following, but after I kill a gecko I still cannot take their skins...

"Regarding gecko skins, make sure you have this in the on_death.ini file in the main Fallout 2 folder:

;set to 1 to enable gecko skins dropping from gecko,set to 0 to disable(written for megamod)
gecko_pelt_drop=1"

Using win7, Megamod 2.44 + fix for Megamod 2.44 + sfall

Could you please kindly advise?
 
..Crashing in Arroyo Temple

I'm using the Latest Megamod, but I can't enter Arroyo Temple, I can't even play the bloody game with this mod, Oh, I have no problems starting outside and meeting Klint, but I walk in and it crashes to desk top,


It keeps saying "The instruction at 004a48ad referenced memory at XXXXXX(Cause it keeps changing!) Memory could not be written", this is the moment I attempt to enter Arroyo Temple.

..I don't know what to do.
 
(FIXED) Megamod 2.44 - Massive Slowdowns/Lag Spikes

Hi, I just wanted to report a recurring lag spike issue that doesn't quite make sense.

I enter Broken Hills and everything is great. No lag, no slowdowns. Then I head over to the residential area and the frames just crawl by as I cringe in agony to walk anywhere in that section.

Possible things to keep in mind:
-I use a Pentium 4 Dell Dimension 4300
-Radeon 9000 (drivers updated)
-Windows XP, 512MB RAM

The slowdowns also happen in Navarro (really badly) and Vault15.

I've tried every setting change possible to no avail. I tried fullscreen, windowed, DX9 mode, 8-Bit mode, 640x480, etc. I always get the same result.

Please help me :( . I finally managed to get the mod working without crashes and very few errors.


UPDATE: Well, I almost solved the lag issue by updating the high resolution patch. It's almost perfect now, but there is some minor mouselag left.

I am having the same problem as NexusCron. I walk, I get the text in the box, but the game crashes and I get the same error. I installed the megamod 2.44 (on a clean install after registry cleaned). Then, after having another error I read to install official patch afterwards, which I did. Now it crashes on entering the temple. Before, without the official patch I kept crashing with this error:

"The instruction at 00459781 referenced memory at 00000064
The memory could not be read from
Click ok to terminate the application"

Any help would be great.

Just an update. Was scrolling through some forums on here and saw that deleting the file obj_dude.int fixes the issue. The file is located under data->scripts. Taking it out, my game now runs fine. Hoping maybe that helps someone else. Only a few hours in but I'm already enjoying the changes.
 
I have spent most of two days trying to get the MM to work with the GOG Fallout 2. It will not due to the "enter temple" application error as above.

The irony is that I own not only the original CD but the Fallout Collection(the nonF3 one) but cannot access either as they are still in boxes and unpacked after a move(yes...I don't know which box either...my spouse does but errr does not have the time to look for a ...game?).

So, I pulled out some old hard drives hoping that I had a fallout 2 copy and luckily found a 2.42MM one from the collection and replaced the old data then installed 2.44 plus the error correctionss and it is working...so far.(see below)


IMHO the MM and probably the Restoration project are incompatible with the GOG version(and probably the Steam one as I am told there is one there also). As these two and the new F3 included collection will be the main source of F2 for new users this may be important.

Naturally I am extrapolating from my experiences and from those above me here.

Removing the "dude" file had no effect I am sorry to say.


Hmmm..out of luck....Got as far as the temple but never saved. Now every time I try to load my outside the temple save the "application error" hits. Funny thing was that MM2.82 seemed to work ok.


BTW I have downloaded twice Fallout 2...one from the first Trilogy and the other from the F3 collection...despite a crash course on Alcohol 120% and two new CDs both crash with the video error.

So, I did the WinXP compatibility/256 colour thing and one worked and I have the original Fallout2 from the trilogy collection on a third and yes torrent sourced CD.( I think paying 3x for this game allows that) A crash course on MagicIso and Alcohol120% has expanded my horizons somewhat.

But, it does not stop there: my MM2.42 saves are incompatible(yes I was warned) with 2.44....no big deal I will start again.....but now I cannot save in a Large Fallout 2 installation with only the MM2.44 and its patch used and I am FIIK what to do now.
I did a humongous installation but it ...did not work with 2.44 at all and went into the recycle bin which is FULL of Fallout 2 dumps.

The only viable line now is my old MM2.42 game and I do not understand why the 2.44 does NOT work with ANY of my Fallout 2 versions(GOG and Trilogy...remember I cannot find the first 1.0 F2 CD.

I have given this a 3 day push and frankly I am sick of it.
I am also having similar problems with the Restoration project on the GOG version but will test the Trilogy version when my temper is better.

I am attempting to do a Restoration Project Fallout 2 install but now the damn CD wont install the game ..again.. If God is reading this I think that divine intervention is required.

OK used then old Fallout 2 from the 2.42 MM version, Removed 2.42 and restored the old data then reinstalled 2.44 and added the MM2.44 fixes and it works.

The GOG version will NOT work with the MM but the Restoration project seems to ...or at least it starts and I can enter the temple.


Okay I managed to get the GOG version to work with MM 2.44.
I did this by comparing the GOG to the old Fallout trilogy F2 and removed that which I considered unnecessary...it worked on the savegames from the working Trilogy version.


I actually have five fallout 2 versions running from 4 different sources GOG, Trilogy (both modified 2.42 F2 and the original data one), F3 included collection and now I can deep freeze 3 of them until I hit a problem like the EPA. Three days and three temple runs to verify.

MM 2.44 and the Restoration project I will play together as a pair and compare and hence I should be quite unless I hit another snag : )
 
Well all has proceeded smoothly until the confrontation with Jordan. I had to laugh as I am obviously NOT the chosen one as with a melee and an unarmed of 50 every attempt to hit him was -4 to -14 with both. For the hell of it I dropped down to wimp level and it made absolutely no difference. I never made ONE (&%$#^^$# hit in three attempts all ending in my demise..
I guess that the masochists who seem to think that every game must be nearly impossible have taken root in the MM or else this part is screwed.
IN addition , no matter what I do and which line I follow I cannot achieve the increase in barter skill via the gold test as I have done many times in other versions of the mod

I am TOTALLY regretting leaving 2.42
Much as I appreciate the efforts in making the MegaMod, the inability to transfer saves between updates will doom it for most of us eventually. I am sorry to be so direct but I have now spent the best part of 84 hours(sleep excepted) on this mod trying to achieve a workable game


Hahahaha...the "saga" continues. Seeing as I jhad invested so much time and had a hit probability of -14% at melee 50 with the knife vs Jordan I thought WTF..I will see what it takes to beat him using a save game editor......it TOOK a melee skill of 130 and I finished with 8 HPs.

But...I was too late to finish the Shaman quest despite straight lining my trip to/from the farm.
IMHO something is very wrong here with the Mod
and I did finish the game with 2.42 a couple of years ago.
I would really be laughing if I wasn't so angry.
 
Custom Skill Books

I added Nirran's Custom Skill Books to a working Megamod 2.44. It will no longer either load or save games. I am running on Fedora 18 via Wine set to Win98 or WinXP, i've tried both.

I am using the obj_dude.int from 2.4 to keep the game from corrupting saves. Could someone link to or email me a copy of the 2.42 obj_dude.int? And is there going to be a fix for the problem for 2.44?
