The files casear.msg and casear.int in both update 3 and update 4 are both the same, that of vertibird 1.03. I have checked, and i have tested it in game. You had vertibird 1.04 readme in update 3, indicating that vertibird 1.04 was in update 3, but functionally, the vertibird mod in update 3 is that of 1.03.

Posting just to let you know. In order to know if your update has included vertibird 1.042, the vertibird should be able to airlift your car while it is flying.

I did see this. Sorry. And it has been taken care of. The plan was, of course, to include it. But, like I said earlier, when dealing with several hundred files, testing, and retesting, and then moving files around, I mess things up. (Of course, it doesn't help that I was doing work on 2 separate computers for a while.) This is the sort of stuff I need to know. The problem has been corrected and it will be available with the release of update 5, which, if all goes well with adding in the EPA, will be uploaded at the end of next week.

Finally, you will see that taking your car with you is an option when you enter the vertibird.
 
I hit a major wall today in the project, and I have no idea what could be wrong. I have incorporated all the files...made changes to to critters and items to reflect their new positions or inclusion within various list and message files. Dialogs in. Scripts redone. I was having a problem with both Dim's mapper and the official mapper, but I thought I had found a suitable workaround. The latest problem is that I cannot enter the EPA at all. Every time I click on the green triangle when at its location from the worldmap, the game just crashes. The only thing I can get from the debugger is an 'Error reading objects while loading map' error. I have a feeling that there is some sort of clash with the scenery files. However, that doesn't really make sense, as the last number from the Megamod was item 1857, and the EPA doesn't add any items before 1867. Suggestions anybody?
 
Hi again, i have no idea why your having that problem, but i've downloaded the original EPA mod, and looked through some of the .msg files and noticed A LOT of grammatical errors and spelling errors. If you would like you could send me your current work and i could test it out, see if it works for me, and also correct those spelling errors for you?

Thanks for the offer...I will keep that in mind. As for any corrections to dialog, Chris Parks is probably the best one to send those to. I am sure he will be having an update of his work soon. 8)
 
Hiya,

I've had that problem as well many times. It happens for example, when you take off a mod you don't want to play and put another one on but forget to place protos in the specified files, (it could be items or scenery)

The map is obviously looking for something that is no longer there in the files. Fixing this could take a lot of messing around in the mapper, but it can be done. (I've overcome similar problems.)

Suggestions: Ensure all the protos are in the directory. Ensure that everything that the maps include is in the proto section. (i'e, you could have missed transfering one?)

As for the dialogue, I never got around to checking them before release and I know there were many errors. Just send them to me.
 
Just an update for all of you. Finally got the EPA in. My first attempt was not working at all, but the second one seems to be stable. Only problem is that now I need to go back and redo a lot of the items that were a part of the New Vision mod at the temple and bridge locations as well as change about 30 scripts. But, I think I should have this done by this weekend.

I installed 4th update.What I'm suppose to do to have entire Vertibird.Thanks for any advice.
 
Tell me, Smok, and be honest: do you have in your directory a patch000.dat file? Another question: did you start that game from the beginning, or is it a game in progress that you had?
 
No , I don't have that file in fallout folder. I deleted it using" Steganos "software to be sure.I started a new game with your mod not resuming the old one.Everything else is working fine.

Ok. I will check this out as soon as I am finished adding in the EPA mod. Only one more thing left to do there. Anybody else have the same problem above? Or can someone also please try to reproduce this?

Hey Smok. You probably already know to do this, but did you set all proto files to "read only"?

Also i'm not clear why it was like that for me, but when i installed update 4 by its own as its supposed to, i ran into some problems: example being graphics for sewing kit, mortar and the like disappearing from inventory. What worked best for me was installing all the updates sequentially, i.e installing update 1, then update 2 over it, then update 3, then update 4. It worked best for me, despite the fact that update 4 is probably supposed to work best on its own. You could give it a try if you wanted.

Are you sure those missing items weren't just due to those brats in the den? :lol: Just kidding. I will compare the files and see what I may have left out.

While I am looking into that, and revisiting the Black Steel mod for ideas, you all can get update 5. It is done, and should be posted in the next couple of days. It has a number of fixes pointed out by WilsonC, Killap's fixes, Enhanced Davin, the latest vertibird (1.042), and the EPA. You should not have to start a new game by appying this update. Skynet pointed out in another thread that simply deleting the worldmap file would cause the game to create another. You will most likely have to do that if you do not start a new game and want to get the EPA to appear.

Now, I know there are some errors with this. Chris Parks is still working on some things. And I did not tinker with this as long as I could have. However, I am a firm believer in Patton's quote: A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week. There will be time for tweaking this.
 
To WilsonC ,yes I set them read only as soon as I'd problems with entering to ''The Temple of Trials''.However veritibrid haven't changed.Even , when I reinstall all game and mod with correct options.
 
Cannot Install ... Plese help

Hello, I'm sorry to bother you guys but I'm unable to install the mod. :cry: :cry: :cry: I have clean installed Fallout 2 and then copied the files in the archive in the data folder. I have also overwritten the executable but Fallout plays as original and I see no traces of the mod. What am I doing wrong ? Can you please tell me step by step hot to install the mod ? Thank you.

Smok: After you reinstalled, did you load from a game in which you'd never entered Navarro before? Also, did you head straight for Navarro immediately after leaving Arroyo instead of going through the normal game flow taking you to Navarro i.e. going to Navarro from San Fran for the vertibird plans quest?

I didn't install patch 1.02 official since the mod seemed to have the official and unofficial patched files. What's not clear to me is why the structure of the "Data" folder in the mod is so different. Am I supposed to unpack the original files in the install (master.dat for ex.)? Thanks
 
Looks like i need to explain this a little more.

Whatever the case if you had installed 1.02 patch or not, you might still have a patch000.dat file in your directory, and in order for the mod to work, you'd have to delete it, or rename it to patch000.000 which is what i would do myself.

You don't need to extract master.dat. Files in the data folder automatically precede those in master.dat.

Assuming you had downloaded update 4, and extracted everything correctly, your data folder, which would be "C:\Program Files\BlackIsle\Fallout2\Data" assuming you installed into your C: drive and to the default directory, will CONTAIN the following directories: Art, Data, Maps, Proto, Sound, Script, Text and a few others.
 
After reinstalation i deleted everthing(pernamently) in fallout 2 folder ,so i don't have any old saves files.
I've tried both paths to reach the Navarro base, but results are always the same.Now, I see pointless to get it work.It's not worth it, a car is fast enough and the most important thing it's working.Thanks for your advices and time.
 
Hi, just asking if update 5 will still be out soon, or have you decided to hold off that for further additions before releasing it?
