Well i could use some help with MrFixit i'm asume.

All nice items like scope & laser.
How to deal with them?
How to merge them or whatever :D

Hi there, there are some bugs that I've noticed:

Redding
- I can walk right through safe in Town hall
- When I click to or try to unlock the safe, it display Error
- If I blow it up with dynamite, it opens but it still displays Error if I view it

Modoc
- Map error in abandoned farm. I receive messages that giant ant and/or scorpion have stepped on a trap which shouldn't happen. Also, if I view Map, it says Arroyo, Error
- When tunnel to Ghost farm is completed, and in Ghost farm, exit grid is not visible in Ghost farm end. Only when you get close and "see" it through the roof you can step on it.
- Exit grid tiles on entering the mine are not acting properly

Salvatore's Gun stash
- If you come by car, car is permanently lost.

Vault 13
- I can't fix computer and I have both two voice modules.
- Every time I enter V13, I get 2000exp and all dialogs are reset...

San Francisco
- If chip dies, his quest log should be strikethroughed.
- Is this normal or what, I've got 8000exp for both Lo Pan and Dragon an I've got both quests, one to defeat Dragon, on to defeat Lo Pan. However, if I do one of these two (and I can only do one) the other on is still highlighet in pipboy

General
- My skilldex button is gone
- In pIpBoy, when I click back in quests, my clock button dissaperars.

Few question though:
I'd like to make certain changes like add floats, add more dialogs, nothing fancy, maybe some quests. Can I do that if I have megamod installed because I'd like to modify some of its quests?

Also, I can't reload AK-198 with 7.92 ammo (iirc the numbers)
 
Well beneath New Reno are to towns... Witch are they?
wenn arrive the map not responce and see the last map i visited.

See the red hexes or mouse pointers in a trail wenn moving mouse.

Nothing happens, but im able to quickload...

Someone told me to use this exe ( only for noobs ) lol.
Still have errors.

Try Mr Fixit with Microfusion cell & Improved Capacitor for a test.
Have no items in screen, so i put them in my item slots.
Game crashed with Improved Capacitor in item slot :(

Powerfist & Upgrades Powerservors also but game not crash.
Seems Mr Fixit want work or do i have lack of skills?

If you were to look through this thread, you would see that many of these items are addressed. However, I do appreciate you posting what you noticed and bringing some new ones to my attention. If I do not specifically mention it here, it has most likely already been corrected.

1. I will make the safe solid or add a blocker.

2. Why should scorpion's not be allowed to activate a trap? Not really a bug, but I guess I could add a code to make it only activate if the player steps on it. However the messages are appearing because you are on the map that the event occurs on...just a different level. No real way around that.

3. Not a bug. Just the way the map was made...and the only way it really can work with the modifications in place without adding another entirely new map.

4. I don't understand this one.

6. It is normal to be able to get both quests, but you are right in that only one can be done. I think this was fixed with killap's last patch and I just finished adding in the last of those fixes last night.

7. This is a known engine bug. Look through the forums about it.

8. Never heard of this. However, I doubt that there is anything I would be able to do as it is something associated with the engine.

9. You can modify the mod however you want. It is just like any other single mod...it just doesn't work well with other mods. Just make sure to make your changes to the Megamod files after it is installed...don't make any changes and then overwrite them with the Megamod, of course.

10. You are using the wrong ammo. Search this thread.

@Limbabnees: I have never used this installer program that you have used, so I can't tell you what the problem is. However, clearly your game is not working right. I would recommend that you uninstall your current game and reuse the installer program to a different location. Don't try to use any of your saved games from your current game, as it is messed up. Part of the problem also sounds like a number of proto files aren't set to read only. Make sure this is the case before you ever run the game.

As for Mr. Fixit, you are confusing that with the ability to upgrade weapons. Characters in the game upgrade weapons if you can convince them and if you have the parts. Mr. Fixit is something else entirely, based off your skills and what you learn from others. Click the button on yourself and use the binoculars to examine yourself. A new screen comes up. There is more about it in this thread. Just do a search.

Yes that screen i noticed :)

Just remove/delete/clean up reister and installed a fresh one (again).
Well i try it in the original way, hopes it will work this time.

actually i meant country version. anyway we may not need that yet...

1: Clean install FO2 (uninstall, delete fallout dir, install)
2: Extract the megamod & the megamod update to two separate folders.
3: Move all the folders from the megamod update into the data folder of the megamod.
4: Move the fallout2.exe from the update to the megamod folder
5: go into the sound\music folder of the megamod and delete all the music files (*.acm) except 25sewer.acm (all the others are already in FO2)
6: In the megamod proto folder set all the files to read-only.
7: The megamod folder should contain fallout2.exe and a data folder.
8: In the fallout2 folder, delete or rename the patch000.dat file (if it exists).
9: Final part, To install just copy the fallout2.exe and the data folder to where you installed the game. (if you don't get asked about overwriting the exe and the data folder then you've done something wrong)

NB: if you keep the megamod folder as is, it makes for an easy re-install.

Read the Megamod readme files. Pretty basic: Install Fallout 2. Copy files from Megamod 2.0 to where your game is located. Then copy in files from Megamod 2.1 (some files will of course be overwritten). Finally copy in the files from 2.1.1. Follow the tips in the readme files when doing this.

In the end you will have your game folder, let's call it Fallout 2 in this example. It will contain the .exe, data folder, and ereg folder.
In the data folder, you should have a list of folders: data, sound, maps, proto, text, and others. If you see a folder that appears to say MIB or megamod inside, remove the contents (which should be more folders) and place them in the right area.

And again, read the readme files that have Megamod in the title.
 
Well i did it and it work well.
Of cource i'm not able to check those map beneath New Reno Yet but i think it will be ok now.

Im in the sewer again so far so good.

I have the Fallout.exe inthe data map, i suppose it belongs beside the data map :D

Well im not sure if it works well, i encounter some problems so i did it "again" the original way. Like

Or i forgot to set those file on Read-Only. Im not remember it anymore.

I just did it like MIB88 told me to do. Now it still working well. So maybe it's better to do it manual.

I hope it work out for you :)
 
Should there be some bug list that we could post to and so that we could check if bug has been fixed, noticed, etc. since this thread is rather large, and there are only so many posts per page. Rather difficult I may say.
Oh and MIB88, how to get source for all updated files used in Megamod. I can't change additions :-D

That would be a good idea. It would save some people some time, and me a lot of aggravation at people who only read the last page of this thread. I have my own bug list and list for improvements/additions, of course. There was somebody here a little while back who offered to do that for me. That never happened, though. Point is, it just takes more time and energy to do this for others to see. And while I work with a some people for translations and to bounce ideas off of, I am still just one person and can't really do that right now.

As for my sources, I might one day release those too. Is there something in particular you are trying to add?
 
Nothing fancy, just add more evil ways to solve some quests, maybe add more quests that use skills that are rarely used such as traps and barter, perhaps throwing. As for floats and dialogs, more atmosphere perhaps?

Few questions:
1. How do you organize all your files for megamod? that must be quite a lot? I was thinking about creating some application that would manage all those 8.3 named files...
2. I saw that last map in megamod is 227, that is quite near its limit, can that limit be changed to few more bytes, some hacks perhaps?
3. I've cheated and hand edited city.txt and turned on few maps such as glow but they don't appear on worldmap, do you know why?

Your ideas are too vague to apply. I hear a lot of those. When things get fleshed out, then I can do something.

As for the other questions:
1. I don't know off-hand how many new/edited files the Megamod uses over the unmodded Fallout 2 since I am not at my own computer now. I'm going to guess around 3500 files, but it's probably more. I just keep the game installed on the computer normally, and work on the game from that folder. When I add/modify a file, I make a copy and place it in a seperate folder to later upload to the site in an update.

2. Yeah, I am awfully close to the limit. I think I can only put in another 30 or so. I can probably shave a few maps off if something else really good comes along. I don't know if that limit can be expanded. I will track down the person who came up with the hack I am using now to see if it can be expanded further. It's not something I know how to do.

3. If you have edited the city.txt file and a city doesn't show up either a) you have the initial visibility of the city turned off or b) you are trying to use a game already in progress. I would start a new game to ensure that the new worldmap takes effect, however, someone in another thread said that you only have to delete the worldmap.dat file in the data folder to get the new locations to show up.
 
Just had a crash wenn traveling from Vault City (with the car) south west.
I think near Raider base.
Got a black screen with top right screen Pal/pal or something like that. Need log off/log on.

Furder. Im LvL 12 and have a save game with Mysterious Stranger.
SHE appears in black leather armor & shotgun, or HE with hunting rifle.
I never played the MS Mod before, so not understand how it works. I read something about leveling up. Is it wenn i level up he/she level up too?
I reading the posts and text files in MIB (explorer) if the mod is active.
Does this Mod included the MS Mod?
 
Again, I can't do anything about random crashes. Ensure it is repeatable, and then I will need to know the specifics about what you did in order to find the problem.

Mysterious stranger is included. The stranger becomes more powerful as the player increases in level.

Next time i crash i try make a sceenpicure.
Also sometimes i have a crash wenn loading.
In the sewer with the ratgod, maybe my vidcard is bad.
Had that problem sometimes before, a mem issue or something like that. Even after restart the game, loading the same slot is a crash.

At last i have an answer:

I dont know how to upload a screenshot (jpg) from the error message so i write it all down:

Application Error: C:\Program Files\Black Island\Fallout2\Fallout2.exe

The instruction at 004efac0 referenced memory at 0000001c
The memory could not be written

Click on OK tp terminate the application

Is it an application error or is it my system that give this conflict.

It happens on more places not only the sewer or random encounters. Vault City to.

Very annoying.

I have never had a crash when changing his armor. I wonder if it depends on the armor? Now that I think about it, I think I only had one armor in his inventory and the other one he was wearing when I told him to wear the best armor. Still, I will test this.

@Limbabnees: If you are having all sorts of random crashes, then your game is messed up. You need to reinstall the game...not just start over. I am fairly certain that your proto files are messed up. Follow the directions in the readme files. Also, pay attention to this, which is in this thread and has been incorporated into the next readme:

8. If you are using Winrar, when you look at your proto files to see if they are read only, they will say read only. Don't believe them. Uncheck all the read only boxes. Then, check them again.
