Mods you should install

A UI mod is the most essential especially since everytime I open up the dreadful pipboy I feel like I have to fight with the UI to trudge through everything. The mouse wheel is one of the most used keybindings in the game for me to scroll through ouch all the items, soo unintuitive.

The Pipboy is just horrendous. Who thought it would be a good idea that when you're in the inventory you can't directly go from Weapons to Misc?

The mouse isn't even consistent as I sometimes use something I didn't want to. Don't get me started on the real time looting and the inconsistent menu bindings like "take all" keybinding when looking through the workshop transfer menu and accidentally taking ALL items.

Another here for no dialogue wheel and full sentence written out. You know what I dont get: why? At least in Biowares Mass Effect the buttons a mapped to each button because each button brings you into a different menu for different options. Pressing Square usually brings up more probing questions, Circle usually advances the conversation. There maay be four buttons but there are often many options. In F4 there is no need for a keyword wheel. They could have had the good old fully written list and it wouldnt have impacted what the were trying to do with the game. They just made a wheel, trying to copy Bioware, just... for the sake of it....
Also the actual Nice / Mean / Sarcastic in ME actually means something because things in the game reflect the personality youve shown. In F4 its just Sarcastic for no reason. And its so irritating that there always has to be exactly 4 options. I honestly talked to someone and this was what I could answer---[triangle] Why (and after why the options remained the same) [x] Yes [square] Ok [Circle] I will. Basically YES, YES and YES just to fill the mandatory exactly 4 options thing. 3 options tto say the same thing for the same response.

Three mods that will be essential for me:
1. Someone needs to add the Winchester City Killer. BRING IT BACK MOTHERFUCKERS.
2. Someone needs to add the .223 pistol. THERE ARE ACTUAL REPLICANTS TO SHOOT YOU FUCKING CUNTS.
3. Player usable cigarettes. Because it's cool, no matter what they say.
4. Something that fixes the abysmal UI.

Although I'm not entirely sure I'll even play it again after the Creation Kit comes out...

I can't believe (well, actually I can) that Bethesda puts in a whole faction of enemies that are pretty much a direct ripoff of the replicants in Blade Runner, but doesn't give us the gun from the movie to shoot them with. That's not even low hanging fruit - that's shit that's fallen off the tree and is laying on the ground.

I think you're giving their writers too much credit. More likely, they don't even know what Blade Runner is and just happened to stumble on those knockoffs while kicking around ideas in their meetings where they discuss how awesome Press Y for Flirting is.

Either that, or someone suggested putting it in during one of those meetings, and then someone else said, "Wait, that gun was in FO1 and FO2, and Obsidian put it in New Vegas!", so they decided to scrap the whole idea.

That one might be pretty hard to achieve though, considering how tight the narrative is in the main quest. Now, things would muuuuch easier if the protagonist had no voice and if most of it was more or less like previous games with a few voiced NPCs. Than it would be nothing more but changing some text and maybe tweaking the spech a little, no clue. Anyway, as previous Elder Scrolls games and F3 have shown, changing things here is neither easy nor is it done very often. So I would not expect to much here, I mean it would go in the direction of a totall conversion mod, more or less. Would be awesome! But I doubt anyone will try to do that.

What I'm also looking forward to in the way of mods is weight for ammo and stimpaks, and rebalanced health recovery for food and water. I would be ok with them healing you slightly, or very slowly over a long period of time. But they shouldn't be more effective than stimpaks, which they currently are. Having only 2 Endurance, a lot of the food items heal my character more than a stimpak does, without the animation. Also, no limb healing from stimpaks. Or at least, not having them fix a crippled limb.

I was thinking something like the live another life mod from skyrim, where you chose how to start the game and main quest only starts if you ask an inn owner about helgen.

Won't work. The Dragonborn is a complete blank slate, he can start as anything and the beginning of the game is very loosely connected to later points in the plot. In F4 you being frozen, Shaun kidnapped and so on is too "well" integrated into the storyline.

Might work if you just ripped out the main quest entirely plus a silent protagonist mod and a few altered lines of dialogue. Man what was Bethesda thinking? Considering they copied tons of shit from Fallout New Vegas mods, they had to have realized that alternative start mods are consistently some of the most popular mods for their games, and then they made making an alternate start mod as hard as possible to implement.

I'd be content if it was just no skull healing with stimpaks. :seriouslyno:

*Crippling injury used to potentially mean so much more; and be a serious impediment... now ~whatever is wrong is easily cured by a magic hypo. Crippled arm could once have meant dislocated arm; crippled eye could once have meant an eye full of debris [sand, iron filings, boric acid, what have you...] The PC could trip and cripple their leg ~sprain their ankle... Now it's just a generic boo-boo; fixable with the most common medicine in the game. What a waste that is!

Textures like this purple splat need to be fixed, looks like it came from the playstation. The original playstation. 377160_2015-11-25_00001.png

It doesn't look like there is any perspective applied to that texture... It's as if there were simply a mask that exposes the texture on whatever surfaces are indicated for it.
(And by that I mean that it looks like it would look if you cut a hole in the image for every surface that had a bit of the purple splat on it, and composited it; (looked through it at the one single image of the splat).

There seems to be no accounting for the height differences of the shelves, or even the stone chip on the ground, with the purple stripe across it.
