New Age of Decadence gameplay video

Well, yes, but I hated the Arcanum UI. It was clunky and it made the game very difficult to play. Removed from some of the fun I think.

720 on youtube made a major difference for me, but still, i'd prefer if the border areas around icons and whatnot weren't textured like they are because im looking for details in the menus and inventorys and my eye gets distracted from ripples present in the beforementioned areas.

Ok, a couple of things (as I posted in the Codex):

- Grid: It can have different opacity levels, you can toggle the lines or fills on and off, or toggle it off completely.

- Interface: I was purposely opening the menu to select the attacks so you can see what I was doing. We have key shortcuts for every kind of attack, and we will probably do a "minimal" interface at some point (probably after the game is out).

- We are improving the pathfinding and target selection AI.

- There will be options to increase the text size, especially at higher resolutions.

ffs madmax..I've had a few drinks and your sig confused the hell out of me :(

on topic, I can't remember the last time I played a 'geeky' turnbased rpg like this have sure missed them and will be trying the full version..it just has that nice statty gritty look, hopefully be a decent plot thrown in!

Actually, the plot is the main attraction of the game ;)

That's really not saying much. At all. The Arcanum GUI is far worse than any other RPG I've ever played.

Check the options menu
Found it just a few minutes after posting, really makes things flow better.

Not everything with swords with it is medieval. Planescape is set in the forgotten realms planes, where you travel to fantastical locations with absolutely no correlation to medieval times, and AoD is set in a fantasy world inspired by the Roman times.
Everyone knows there were only three eras of men: the stone age, the medieval age and now, with the internet.

Don't you know anything?!

Too many people fussing about medieval settings. Setting doesn't matter. Video looks good. I also read the info on their website. Dark ages post apocalyptic setting sounds like a great idea. What matters is implementation. Iron Tower is aiming for a game similar in nature to Fallout with main quests, side missions, player choice consequences, and many possible endings. If they have written a good story within the game, it could be awesome! Could fall flat too, depending on gameplay. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished game to judge it on it's own merits, the sooner the better! When can we get it?! :aiee:

Kubla Khan has all the fun!

EDIT: I very much second Makenshi's post that follows. May Christopher Lee pummel him into submission!

You just gave me the last kick I needed to complete the evolutionary process which turns NMA people into Small Glittering Gems of Hatred.

Oh yes, I hate you! :x

Always a pleasure to help.

Wow, I just got the combat demo and it's pretty awesome. The interface does seem a little clunky but I'd say not as bad as Arcanum.

But I saw the Papyrus on the loading screen and it annoyed me... oh well. Maybe it's a placeholder? That font is way overused.

Not for me then. I had no problems with the Arcanum interface, nor with the Fallout interface, which was kind of similar in various points.

And I somehow don't like too much minimalized interfaces. Takes away some bit of style, in my opinion.

Yes, it does. Everyone has more fun playing/reading/watching a game/book/movie with a setting they like. If it wasn't for the scarcity of games with this kind of gameplay I wouldn't care that much for AoD. So, setting does matter.

... So, setting does matter.

Of course it does. But they have to choose a setting, and i prefer it if they choose one that they like and are comfortable with, it will make the game better. I prefer PA, Sci-fi or cyberpunk settings more but for a good turnbased game where stats and equipment actually matter, il put up with practically everything (except furries, i hate furries). And its not as if it was a generic fantasy setting anyway.

Well, of course. After all if they made the game sci-fi someone would come up and say that they dislike sci-fi. You can't please everybody.
My point is simply that you can't say that setting doesn't matter.
