Could someone please re-post Grayswandir's critter example(s) using a different image host?

xi'l, your well-maintained, polished police bot looks great! Also the red-haired supermutant, damn good animation. I'm hoping, we'll see him in some of the big mods soon.

Thanks, valcik.

Damn, looking good!

It still presents the same dilemma as the original (imo); not too post-apoc-ish, but in itself it looks good and it's miles better than the original bouncers.

Did you maybe blocked the image host via adblock or some other filter software?

Maybe the made man could be a bit dirtier and his clothes torn up here and there, as x'il proposed. But overall look is really gangster-like, I like it.

It's because your eyes are well versed in 4-pixel-chair detection. The others must use special gear for such tasks:

The artwork looks great. But, do you notice the smoking animation? He is smoking using his right hand, but the shadows are primarily on his left side. I probably wouldn't even notice it in game, but only here because it is by itself.

Thanks everybody, I finished the sw rifle animation today, and I hope to complete the rest of the SW direction (the tricky ones, falling, getting up, stimpack) this weekend, then I will think about making the tommy gun, maybe the gun too.

Concerning the fitting in the wasteland setting, I agree with all of you, it stand out. But I always thought the major flaw of Reno was that the design was badly introduced. The Idea of a town protected by the descendant of the mafia ain't bad actually, in opposition to Den (slavercity), Vaultcity(based on prewar) and the NCR (newdemocraty of the wasteland). But it wasn't made right.
Idealy for me, the outskirt of the city should have been a mix of destroyed tall building and cultivated area, wherever possible (parking slot, destroyed building). The farmers there should have complained about how everything they farm would go to the mobsters, other would admit that they are better off paying the protection in Reno instead of living in the Wasteland. Maybe a caravan outpost or two, for the Den and the NCR, and some brahmins. The long statu quo betwenn the mobster would have been explained by the fact is too big to be protected from the outside by only one gang. Each gang would have had its outskirt area to protect (north, east, south, west...)
The Mordinos would have this gangster protecting their area.

or this one

That way, the player would be less surprised when he enter the central area. (but yeah, the neon need to go)
The clean appearance of the made man could be explained by the fact that its an external sign of power and wealth. In a wicked way, the mobsters are the protectors of civilisation in the Wasteland. The might extort moneys from the people, but the raiders would simply kill them, the slavers would take everything.
In the wester of old, we can see that all the people had 2 set of cloth, the regular one for work, the other one to go to church the sunday. Well the mademan can wear sunday clothes everyday. Why? because he can. (he can afford the pressing bill of the San Francisco imigrant  )
It would also require other wealthy person living in the city, like successful slaver, rich farm owners, caravan masters, ranchero, all that would pay the protection to the mob. That way Reno would have a real source of income (instead of tourism and gambling)
Another type of mobster:

Some experimentations for the rich people, try to imagine them with different head instead of the hat:

Of course, since the made man are all clean, they would need some people to guard the outskirt, patrol the wasteland, the goodfellas:

Anyway, end of the fantasy and back to work, I only have made 10% of the frames for the made man...

To MIB:
My fault actually. I thought I could use some quick copy past to escape the 70 frames of the animation. Turns out I can't. (Damn you Josan! Your work is too good!)

Great stuff, Grayswandir, just great!

Especially those fellas. Really fits both New Reno and general Fallout style. They look so damn badass.

the first one does:

its looks amazing and its look normal when your legs spread this way.
its the other 2 when he stands that looks weird with that coat flap or puffed pants.

@Grayswandir, i love these mobsters as well.
2 things thou, this one got a white line:

and correct me if i am wrong but to me it seem like the raider legs on the mobsters are a bit off, for example this guy with jeans look perfect:

while this mobster looks great but his legs looks a bit to long:

or maybe its just me besides in the game i will probably not notice it all.

Just an observation... I meant it when I said it looked great and that it probably would not be noticed in game with all the other art/graphics around it.

 This, this one! this is the one you should make to replace the casino bouncers!:

It's Awesome.

Also, the current one you're makin' and this two here would be great and fit better (imo) for the mob bosses (especially Bishop):

You guys are killing me with all this potential for awesome.

I dream of a day when I can play Fallout 2 with the giant mobsters replaced by these much more fitting looking ones, the white boxers actually looking white, and the horribly animated NCR police replaced with the blue combat armored critters.

It’s coming soon to a mod near you…just image if Bethesda dug through the old Fallout files and said “Let’s just give the fans this old rubbish - models, textures, and why not toss in the engine as well…”, that would be a wonderful day. With the original files you could build endless new critters…fat chance that will happen.

Engine will never be, as it includes licenced stuff, which can't be make public without asking the third party dudes and these will very unlikely agree on that. Also it's not really needed anymore anyway.

I like the above posted new mobster stuff.
