New animations 2

To all who make/implement/contribute to these animations: wow and thankyou so much thay are AWESOMEMM!OKM@!PIOJRALK

To anyone who makes new critters: is anyone here familiar with Paint Shop Pro in opposition to Photoshop? They are really similiar softwares, but as of now I don't have Photoshop, so I'm going with Paint Shop Pro. Basically, I need to know if anyone knows how to duplicate the batch commands used in Photoshop for Paint Shop Pro. That would really help

As a small I guess "side project", I'm going to be trying to make a red-haired female hero critter. It would probably take a long time for me, because I just learned the process yesterday (thanks for the tut videos Lisac2k  ) so unless anyone else has that started, I'm gonna try. (For what that's worth)

Well, you need to replace some animation with it.
so no:

:(

hardcoded limitation? if so, software engineering is not my faculty but i know many guys who does, i can ask them to look into it starting from next month.

How you build her is up to you…but could you build her like this…with the highlight in her hair – a more natural looking redhead…(it’s the same hair shape as the original girl – just reddish).

A question, are you going to re-paint the normal head or are you going to add a different one? (just curious). Also, a small advice; start with the leather jacket critter and the basic movement animations for it (A, B, C, R sets), that way, if you get tired of it at some point, you may have a somewhat complete critter set that could be released as an npc critter.

I'm afraid making a different head for the animations would be way beyond my abilities at this point. I was envisioning doing what .Pixote. posted.

I take it critter making has drawn a few souls away from modding Fallout? :wall: Well, maybe it's because they've been familiar with it for so long. It hasn't even been a year since I first played the originals (personally haven't touched Fallout 3 since, because I don't like it at all now), so maybe it's that I still have that new-guy enthusiasm :wiggle:

:) I only say it because, with the exception of some fully automated edits, critter editing is, well, a very (very) repetitive and long endeavor, especially for the hero (player) critters, so by taking it by certain 'stages' (such as the one i mentioned) you could assure yourself you'd have at least something usable should you get tired and decide to stop later on (trust me  :P)

Uhg, I don't like Paint Shop Pro. I want Photoshop back!! I tried to register my old (pirated) copy, but the keygen gave a an expired license, on the spot! Now I can't have it...

Ok, complaining out of the way... I guess no one here uses PSP, oh well.

Heh, I know what I'm getting myself into... but once I finally learn how to repaint the head right... *cough* Pixoteshouldpostatutorial *cough*

Like I was saying, once I get myself started, I think I won't be able to stop (except for the occasional potty break... Nah, that's not a neccessity :postviper: )

Alright , I figured it out. I can now officially start making the critter! :obsessed: I was just playing around with the female leather armor critter, (the red was too bright, but it was a good learning experience). I learned that I don't know how to make GIF's, so posting my progress might not happen... but I will be constantly be chipping away at it

I just need some info from you .Pixote. (don't go all Hannibal on me  )

1) What's the RGB value for the hair color in your example animation, and
2) How much of this process can I take care of with batch commands?

Sneaky, sneaky x'il... This is great. And what a long project it must have been! Well done! I always wanted to see a differentiation between Leather Armor MK1 and MK2!

Don’t batch…that’s a certain disaster in the making – there are too many small unique tasks to be done, and batching won’t work. Use the Eyedropper tool to find the correct hair color…but the critical thing is how you organize your project. I prefer to create a master file for the one animations (walk for instance)…now that file will have a folder for each direction – the order is NE – E – SE – SW –W - NW, they are the basic directions the critters uses. I bring in the images/frames of each direction in order…and number them 000 – 001 – etc. Mind you I have made actions to speed up the process. I personally line up the critters positions so they animate correctly if you move between the layers…but that’s me. The beauty of this system is that when you need to make the alterations to the other armor sets you can bring them into this image file, and give them their own folders names and place them directly over the original images…remember most critters have the same exact body shape, so you only need to mask out the unwanted parts and export them as new critters. It might sound confusing but it’s more tedious than difficult. As for the red hair girl some air brushing will be required to get her highlights perfect – no matter what it’s a lot of work – she has almost 180+ animation sequences, and that’s just the blue vault suit. I will write a tutorial with images and pass over my PS actions when I get some spare time.

PS - I lost all of my Photoshop Actions when I reinstalled my operating system…so I will need to build them all over again. I’m not sure what method X’íl and Josan use…hint hint.

All right, that would be helpful, but don't consider it high priority on your to-do list  I can wait for this little project.

And actually, I've come to a conclusion: the hair color you portrayed fits really nicely with the "hero" mood, while I find a lighter orange-reddish fits well for critters that would be hostile NPC's. Too bad I don't know how to make that air-brushed effect. *Furiously searches through notes* Damn, I know there was something on it around here! :irked:

P.S. Don't know what version of PS you're using, but will these "actions" work in PS 7.0?

Hooray, finished my first project (the easiest one I could think of - mainly just to learn how its done)

THE BLACK BOXER NPC FOR NEW RENO:

--> Get him here! <--

It's 19 FRM's, hope someone tests them. Anyone is welcome to use this character in their mod!

I'd love to see this character implemented, either as a second boxer NPC in New Reno (for variety) or to replace the current, weirdly yellowish, boxer NPC.

Also, I'm sure someone is working on the black hero character. Right? If not, I reckon I could get it done within a couple of weeks - or help whoever's doing it now with the FRM's.

Do you think you can make a white one...
No prob, even though his body structure is quite African to begin with, so it might look a bit silly when he has fully caucasian skin. Gonna try a few thing though...

Yeah, damn greens are present in almost every weapon (in fact the bigger the weapon the greener it is!), but anyway, thanks.

No, you're right, multi-layering the armors is a good method in this case.

Ghouly89, be sure to include in the process the leather armor mk2 i just posted in this thread! :)

Why not upload it to a file host like mediafire?

Good point :) Been having trouble with mediafire (I'm on shit connection ATM), took over 30 min to upload!!! Kept disconnecting.

It's there now. And I've edited my previous post - if the character is any good, see if you can link the post in your index.

Also, do you know who's working on the black player character? I'm pretty sure I've seen it mentioned in one of your threads. Wouldn't wanna step on someone's toes, but if no one's working on it...
