I've been playing around with recolouring this critter some time ago. I'd also like to add him at least one weapon. So if I succeed, I'll pass it on to the community (both the recoloured and the regular version).
Still, this may take me a while - I'm not very systematic with this.

Only complete removal could help them, I'm afraid. Also, I think that taking inspiration from here could produce quite good NPCs. Of course, models should be re-detailed (aka simplified), otherwise they could not fit into the shitty pants art style.
