New Fallout 3 concept art

One thing I do take issue with their position is they left it unprotected! They should have at least fortified it with some sort of protection. That way an enemy would have to get close and use explosives or grenades to eliminate the nest. And while they are in the process of trying to do that the 'ma deuce' is spraying them with fire. Playing right into the M-2's strengths and they had best expect shitloads of casualties doing that. :D
that was my point actually. an elevated position is good for an M2, but if you're not protected, you're just cannonfodder...

or as Sean Connery put it in The Rock: "A sniper is gonna get his arse..."

I think the latest pic is ok, but for some reason it reminds me of FOT. I prefer the aircraft carrier pic out of the four so far, not that it's all that Fallouty, I just don't mind the pic. It kind of hints at life after the apocalypse without giving away too much.

In the end though these are just some artistic impressions that may or may not relate to the FO3 game. Drawing any conclusions from these is grasping at straws and a waste of time.

And while I don't necessarily agree with banning people for what seems like a trivial digression, everyone here knows how we feel about the whole drawn out process that has become FO3. There's absolutely no point interjecting in any discussion with the "lay off them and give them a go" speech, all that does is waste time and space (again), and apparently also gets you banned.

Lol, ok I thought you were saying it should not be so high. :D My Bad.

That means the sign is only held up by the ladder on the viewer's left.

Sloppy.

If it really matters, I'm pretty sure I see a pole under the middle of the sign, towards the back, that also helps hold it up. So I don't think that's true. Maybe they just added it? :D

Also, just my opinion as a mild-mannered Fallout fan (compared to the rest of the community at least, hehe), I don't really see the problem with the style of Fallout 3 deviating some from the rest of the series. Yes, of course there I would like it to stay true to the feel of the series, with mutants, architecture, weapons and at least an option of turn based combat, SPECIAL, etc, but as long as it still feels "Fallout-y" to me, I think it would be fine, and maybe even better for there to be some stylistic differences in any of the above plus everything i didn't mention since it will be taking place on the OTHER SIDE OF THE CONTINENT.

Well...ok, no changes in SPECIAL. That is my only solid condition. :)

Even Canada seems to have the same style of architecture as California *points at his av*, so I don't think it changes with locations :) . Maybe there's a difference between urban and suburban architecture, but all cities seem to be Art Deco metropolis.

That pic on the first post reminds me a lot of that movie that has giant worms underground.

I dunno if it's going to work as a sequel of fallout, but it could work as a different title game under the same atmosphere.

I'm playing atm tes4: oblivion, and i'm very addicted, reminds me a bit when i started to play fallout, playing non-stop. Also some things reminds me of fallout like the factions, the "random enconters" of caves and such.

If they manage to be able to understand what fallout is all about, i think they might make it a great sequel. There are many things that can't be changed from fallout to look like tes4.

one wonders how he's been able to survive on this forum for over 400 posts...

Oblivion? O.o
I was a die hart player of Morrowind (i played it around a dozen times)
Oblivion ? uninstalled it after 1 day of playing with all my excitment about Bethesda gone.(best part was the tutorial)
Back on topic
The picture is ok but it has nothing of the sheer "brilliance" of Fallout.

Agreed. Perhaps a bout of insanity has taken over. I certainly never want to see Oblivion compared to Fallout in anything I read.

Ever.

I actually borrowed a friends copy of oblivion and installed it. Sure it's pretty. But really, really hollow. Not a lot of character.

Uhm, guys, a lot of people on these forums played and somewhat liked Oblivion. Hell, I gave it a try once, a bit boring, but overal still "fun". Good game, for what it wanted to do.

No crime.

Depends on what you expect before you play Oblivion.
If you're expecting an open-ended RPG you're gonna cry after 30 minutes of gameplay. Seriously.
If on the other hand you're expecting a kewl-looking SWORDS-N-BOWS FPS it's a nice game.
Simple as that.(Imo)

I'm not afraid of saying I have enjoyed Oblivion.... after it's been loaded with 100+ mods to fix Bethesda's appalling mistakes that is.

I'd say the objection here is that he's directly equating it with Fallout when they are *nothing* alike.
Moreover it reflects the fears of most Fallout fans that Bethesda thinks that vanilla Oblivion is perfect, and that Fallout is exactly like Oblivion, it's just those silly RPG elitists who won't like it because they'll never like anything. Which will lead to a... bad Fallout 3.

SWORDS-N-BOWS FPS

I didn't like what I saw in this domain, in any game, but the only and the true Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.

Killing with swords, staffs and daggers never has been that good. The mechanics of multiplayer (fucking kujo, they already fucked up Fire Warrior) are severaly lacking the intensity of the visceral first person combat of the single player.

Oh comon, rpgs aren't like women.
It's not like when you love one you can't have some fun with others.

I didn't say it had any match with fallout but it was better in some aspects comparing with other rpgs. Having a main quest and so many sidequests on every city is kinda fallouty with a little mixture of Thief series.
I'm not a fashion rpg guy. It's not like i start playing a new rpg when it comes out (started to play oblivion a week ago), but i didn't see so many things alike fallout in many rpgs.

The suckiest thing about the major rpgs is that it's always in the medieval age. That sucks a lot.

Can't really see fallout on a oblivion engine though. Making a rpg in medival age is far easier than in a post apoc era, making a boat graphic is far easier than make a car with all it's details. Making forests is far easier than make a city in ruins, it demands so much more details.

That's what i'm really worried about (assuming they will leave the main idea of F2 in the game).

Tremors?

Yup, that's it.

except everything is extremely hollow and unimaginative? totally unlike Fallout?

the engine is fine. it is highly modable and could easily be adapted to something worthy of a Fallout game.

still, could and will are entirely different verbs.
