NFL 2010

This is what a buddy of mine just said, and I couldn't have said it better myself.

"From a purely objective stance, it was a solid game. From a subjective stance, very disappointing considering what could've been, yet since I fully expected a score *worse* than the Pats/Bears game, I'm pretty impressed."

That was a barn-burner, I think I had an out of body experience at the end there. McCarthy and Flynn don't deserve any heat for how it ended either. 4th down, no time outs, and he got the play off. End of story. Pats win, but bad enough not to inflate their ego and reinforce that they really are not that good to win without 60 minutes of effort in all three phases.

Nothing like like the Patriots pass defense to make a young QB look like the second coming of Joe frickin' Montana. Watch Brainiac Fitzpatrick light them up next week.

Also, that Connolly kick return almost makes up for the fucking Desmond Howard return in the SB. Almost. Desmond Howard. His pro career is buried in obscurity if not for that return. Thanks, little fucker.

In other news, Ed Hochuli sucks.

I'm more pissed the Giants lulled me into thinking they had won to the point that I turned the game off, and had to find out later they didn't. WTF. Have to give Coughlin credit for mellowing out, in the old days he would've released the Irish, full bore on Dodge. Philly kills him though, losing to an intra-division rival consistently like that will get ya fired.

Meh. Damn SunLife curse. Huzienga must have put a hex on my Dolphins... I don't see why either, he sold the damn team willingly. I wish we could get one more home win this season. :(

I missed all the games this weekend, but holy shit what the fuck happened at the end of that game. That's ridiculous. It's last year all over again.

Also, Bucs lose to Lions. Calvin Johnson basically tore us up. He's a huge mismatch for our current corners (not for Talib, who's injured).

It was a great TV schedule too, I couldn't watch them all but we got G-men/Eagles and Indy/JAX, PITT/NYJ and finally NEP/Packers.

Forget the 18 game season, rookie wage scale, player safety issues etc.

Why could we not get the Hard Knocks crew to film the entire Jets' season? The Rex Ryan Jets make that team from Any Given Sunday look less dysfunctional.

That was ridiculously long for something completely unfunny.

Also holy fuck do the Panthers suck ass. Every time I see them I'm surprised by the amount of ass they manage to suck.

Marvin Harrison was a weird dude, those pics of him all pissed off, intensely brooding at the end of the bench, not talking to anybody. That was him...on a good day. Great receiver thought, HOFer, Ty Law friggin' stole his lunchmoney on many an occasion. And you do have to give Peyton credit, he is funnier than Tom Brady.

Not as stoked as usual for these last two weeks. It's hard to get excited about some of these wildcards and divisional races It seems like every team of consequence has essentially clinched already. Who gives a fuck who wins the NFC West - I think we're seriously going to get our first division winner with a losing record. That's just bad, bad, bad.

Did I mention I'm in favor of contracting 2 teams, going back to 3 divisions of 5 teams, with those champs and 3 wildcards going to the dance? It would make the product better, but contraction is a dirty word. If anything the NFL has shown that chasing every last dollar is numero uno. All this player safety bullshit is just about making the game more palatable for corporate pukes and housewives. Fuck 'em.

edit:

Oh yeah
Merry Christmas you fuckers. :D

Ehm, what? Only ones who've clinched a playoff spot are the Pats, Steelers, Bears and Falcons. Bears are the only ones who have clinched a division win. Eagles, Giants, Jets, Colts, Saints, Ravens, Chiefs, Chargers, Packers and a few more have yet to clinch a playoff spot.

Aye I'm with you Sander. I feel like this year is probably the best we've had in a long time in terms of not having everything decided yet.

Bolded by me for emphasis.

Maybe it's just me but I don't really care who comes out of either western div.
The Eagles and Saints would have to have epic collapses not to get in at this point. The rest are, even if they do qualify, even if they do advance - likely 2nd round underdogs on the road. Most teams that are in now need only a win, and the reaming schedules are kind of meh.

Hah, Henne. Really disappointed in him, I thought he looked pretty decent last year and was likely to look much better this year.

Also, Bucs stomped all over the Seahawks yesterday. Hurray. Of course, another 2 starters went out with injuries - likely for the season. *sigh*

Still, we can make the playoffs. Hurray!

Kuhn!

Rams versus Seahawks next week for the NFC West title.

I'm kind of sorry Samurai Mike got fired. He was entertaining. Who else loses a coach? Carolina? Houston? Miami? Tennessee? Looks like high turnover, potentially.

All those guys or on hot seats, and Jeff Fisher may not want to come back depending on how Bud Adams handles Vince Young. John Fox for Carolina is the only one there who's definitely out, though.

Marvin Lewis for the Bengals is probably done too, and Eric Mangini with the Browns can't feel too comfortable either. Maybe Ken Whisenhunt too? Made a good mess of the Cardinals. And with the way Snyder handles his team, Shanahan could be on his way out in Washington too. Norv Turner might not survive this epic collapse of a very good football team either. And you never know what Al Davis is going to do in Oakland.

That means basically every team that's been eliminated from the playoffs could fire (or has fired) their coach, except for the Lions with Jim Schwartz and the Bills with Chan Gailey.

Shanny will stay on, it will just be a very different team. No McNabb, no Portis, no Haynesworth (but hardly any difference there).

They'll probably go QB in the top 10 and a lot of people are saying Cam Newton.
