NFL 2010

Yeah, how much turnover does a typical NFL roster have anyway, 10-20%? You can't fit that many picks on a semi-decent team anyway.

btw, Pete Carroll just made his 264th roster move. I can't say I like his clownish ways but it's been a funny ride.

I haven't seen this piss-poor-pathetic a showing of GB offense since I was a kid. This is the fucking lamest game I've watched all goddamn year. Jesus fucking christ.

EDIT: Rodgers out, GB will lose this game, GB will not make the playoffs. Bets?

Thanks for losing, that keeps our playoff hopes alive.

By the way, that was the most ridiculous game ever. We couldn't do shit to stop the run in the first half, but somehow the Redskins only came away with 10 points. Then the second half happens, and we suddenly shut out the Redskins. Until they get a first down that shouldn't be a first down because the chain gang lines up a yard short. Then they get 4 plays and score on the last play, only to miss the tying PAT. Skins suck.

Well whatever he did to his defense ruined it.

At least we can't blame him for Hasselbeck.

Seems like it. This is one injury you can't really work around. It's amazing the team's survived the slaughter so long.

Tramon Williams has been ridiculously good, and Matthews has to be the frontrunner for Defensive MVP.

Also, Sanchize sucks. Hah.

Sooooo, so glad we just penned him in for another 4 years. Coming into this year I never...NEVER would have guessed his game would be stepped up to this pro-bowl caliber level. Truly one of the greatest leaps in play I've seen on this team, ever.

and Matthews has to be the frontrunner for Defensive MVP.

Not sure anymore, to be honest. He's had a couple'a slow games with those nagging injuries and the hype seems to have faded. It will really all depend on how well he (and the Pack) does in the next few games.

Duh, McFly.

P.S. I forgot to mention this the other night...but with all the talent they have at NFL Network (Rich Eisen, Jamie Dukes, Deion Sanders, Mike Mayock, etc, etc) how the fuck do they put the two most boring fucks to ever commentate on anything on these Thursday games? Jesus. It's like a fucking chore to watch those.

Sure, but no one else is really a viable choice this year, unless someone explodes over the last 3 games. Well, Trent Cole is a viable choice but he isn't getting the hype. He's been playing lights otu.

They could do a lot better, yeah. But they don't bother me as much. Jim Mora and Brian Billick really annoy me, and those guys have covered a lot of Bucs games this year.

I used to hate Gruden too, but he's kind of grown on me. He's stopped kissing every player's ass and is now providing actual insights.

I actually really dig Billick. Always have. Not sure why the Ravens got rid of him. One shitty year? Come on, man.

But I seriously consider not turning Thurs. games on and sometimes even turn them off because of the "sad/vacant/how many seconds before somebody actually SAYS something" commentators.

What about Troy Polamalu? Or Suh? Wake has more sacks and forced fumbles out of the OLB position.
Actually, I think Polamalu is the front-runner right now, not Clay Matthews III.

Wake has more sacks, but CM3 is a lot more versatile than Wake. Wake could get it though, and CM3 has slowed down a lot.

And yeah, I guess Polamalu has a shot. I wouldn't call him the frontrunner though, 6 picks and 1 sack probably isn't enough.

Because DPotY is about numbers? Bob Sanders had 3.5 sacks and two picks in his DPotY year. Polamalu's numbers (60 tackles, 5 TFL, 1 FF, 1 sacks, 6 picks, 1 DefTD) should not be an objection. Polamalu is the it because compared to CM3 he's more important to his defense (playing with some p mediocre CBs) and probably to his team overall (what with his game-winning plays lately) and his defense is better, and those are the main considerations.

Besides, it's about time he wins it. He is clearly the frontrunner. Just ask Palmer.

I don't even know if his defense is actually better at this point, but fair points. Wouldn't be surprised to see him win it in any case.

So hey, does Vick win MVP this year? That'd be one epic turnaround.

I was sure he was ready to start...I mean, he's been starting most of the past two seasons because Harris was hurt. He's done great though. Seems like a nice guy too. Another one of Ted's successes.

Charlie Peprah deserves recognition too. Before this year I would always say, "Uh-oh," whenever he ended up on the field, but since Burnett went down he's impressed me.

I didn't get to see any games yesterday because I spent six hours plowing snow (in 5F or -15C weather with high winds) from the storm that crushed the Metrodome. Or, "Mall of America Field" actually--funny they don't call it that when the roof collapses! There are drifts over 5 feet high, and they're hard. And we might get another 6 inches on Wednesday. :D

Hope you made some good money. "Hard Snow" that's a midwestern euphemism for when the dunes freeze forming a Great Barrier Reef of icy, coral like nastiness?

I can sympathize though, I had a rough go of it too, what with tending the living room fireplace all afternoon. At one point I actually had to go outside and get more wood! And then the Christmas tree lights reflecting off the TV, it was unbearable. :D

Minny is snake-bit. Reminds me of the same thing happened to the Hartford Civic Center when I was a kid, they actually played in a mall too, to which ESPN ridiculed them incessantly.

Does this accelerate maneuverings to keep them in Minny, or is it pushing them out the door even farther?

What's up with inflatable domes anyway? I saw a game in the Tokyo Dome once and it's was bizarre to me how it was all pressurized like that. Not that I'm an engineer, but it didn't seem like a sound structure to me. And Minnesota, wouldn't they take into account shitloads of snow?

So hey, does Vick win MVP this year?
No, not unless TB is abducted by aliens this week. Vick couldn't cope with Soldier field on a nice, clear day. Who's done it better than Brady against better defenses?

Good thing NE has Brady, because Welker's production is going to take a huge hit without Moss taking the top off of defenses anymore. Fraud-ass Welker milking his injury. That Deion Branch guy disappears in big spots too, or so Chris Carter told me. Chris Carter knows a lot about delivering in big games, thanks for that insight Chris!

Vikings are sure to use this as more fuel for the "buy as a new goddamn stadium you fucking cheap bastards" fire. I would bet you'll see rumours of a move to LA increase over the next months, then after the playoffs Minnesota votes on a stadium resolution again and it passes.

It sounds very bad, but honestly: it's worked. Yeah the roof collapsed 3 times before, but all of that was in the early '80s. Hasn't happened since, so it's not like that is a constant concern. More likely the snowfall was just exceptional the past days. As in: once every 25 years, exceptional.

Vick.
Brady's been very impressive too, certainly. I'm not that impressed by these snow games though - seems like the Pats have a much better grasp of how to gameplan for snow games than anyone else. Brady's very good, but I don't think that destruction yesterday was a particular result of Brady's excellence.

I heard/read this a few places, this is lazy analysis. How specifically does/did the Patriots gameplan for the snow differ from others? What constitutes good/bad snow game planning? Put some long johns on? Don't put your tongue on a metal pole? It was windy/snowy and they threw it 40 times, for nearly 400 yards. I don't see how the snow/wind effected their game planning or execution.

I think the case for Brady over Vick is easier to make, but to tell the truth I could care less about the MVP.

Gameplanning is a bit more significant than just pass or run. It's the type of passes that are thrown: get it to the athlete in space and have him break some tackles. A lot of the passing the Pats do is behind the line of scrimmage and on very short routes, which works very well for a snow game because the defense has to react with poor footing. Brady is very good at those passes, but that's not a particularly impressive skill.

Unlike what Brady has done for the rest of the season I should say, but that win was much more coaching and gameplanning than Brady being good.

I'd pick Brady over Vick for MVP at this point, and I'd probably put Rivers over Vick too.
But Vick has certainly done enough to warrant consideration, despite missing a couple of games.

Yeah, so it didn't differ from what they usually do, so how is it suddenly good "snow gameplanning"? It's a term that didn't exist until yesterday, that lazy columnists use because they underrate how bad a coach Lovie Smith is.

This is still more lack of any signs of life on the part of the Bears in planning or execution that the Patriots deserving of any credit.
They spread em out and hit the underneath shit to the slot, TE and RB. Is that a big secret, do they not watch film?
How the fuck does that team lead the NFC North?
