NFL 2013

In nba, which i watched until now, (but getting tired of the disparity, where a bunch of players always seek to teamup (the self proclaimed king being the most hated one of them), ring bandwagoners etc.) it's a simple western and eastern conference structure. The league, season structure in nfl kind of makes me scratch my head a little bit, so many strange things. :)

that's one reason I really like the nfl because it's really the opposite of that.
the entire structure of it is geared towards parity, and you don't have the inmates running the asylum.

As much as I despise the NFL suits for being arrogant pricks, which they are, I freely admit it's the most well run sports league in the world.

Here are my bold predictions.

Jacksonville is better than people think they are.
Dallas is going to win the NFC East.
The Bills have found their new franchise quarterback in Jeff Tuel (just kidding).

- yeah, I guess I could see them winning more than 1 game

Dallas is going to win the NFC East.
- they win the division in august every year -- why should this year be any different?

The Bills have found their new franchise quarterback in Jeff Tuel (just kidding)
- I assumed you were kidding on all 3 of these

Really exciting to see the Eagle's first game on Monday Night Football. They need to get better at closing out games obviously, but definitely fun to watch Lesean Mccoy rush for over 180 yards, and to see that Nnamdi and DRC were replaced by better cornerbacks...

It was definitely interesting, although it's hard to take too much away from it when Washington was so sloppy. I want to see Philly against a premier defense.

RG3 needs to learn how to protect his body. That intentional grounding play that had everyone worried is a perfect example. Trying to throw it away when he was dead to rights was bad enough, but jumping up in the air so he got slammed into the ground too was horrible. It's not so much about running or not running.

One of the secrets to Favre's longevity was that whenever he knew he was going to get hit he curled up in a fetal position. Whenever I see RG3 play I keep noticing how he constantly leaves his long arms and legs extended and vulnerable.

Yeah I was thinking the same...Chargers next week, so they're a slightly better defense I guess

Yeah, qb's get a lot of crap for going down like Brett Favre used to, and how Peyton Manning does, but in the end it keeps you healthy and I would take that over getting a few extra yards or keeping a play alive slightly longer. It's just not worth it.

It's especially bad for RG3 because of how gangly he is. Tuck and roll, man.

Washington's at Green Bay this weekend, too.

RG3 is looking awful, tentative, not setting up for his throws. I think he was rushed back too fast. Redskins need to reassess their plan.

Wilson isn't looking great either, playing behind a spotty offensive line. That's going to be a weakness for the Seahawks if they don't get it fixed, we do have some interesting talents on the bench but I dunno if we have any hotifxes. Won't matter against Jacksonville, obviously.

Also, the NFL being a tax-exempt non-profit organization is the dumbest thing ever.

PS: watching the Eagles offense has been interesting, but that defense is too piss-poor and they lack the talent to do what they really want to. Vick is too slow and tentative as a decision-maker to run a Kelly offense.

The NFL gets away with murder, and it wouldn't even surprise me if that was literal.

Pretty bad loss for the Packers. They had that game in the bag and gave it away. And lots of new injuries, too! At least Franklin showed some promise.

The petition to have GWAR play the halftime show of the Super Bowl in 2015 has over 35,000 signatures. We need more, though.

EDIT: Next time you see Goodell on TV, ask yourself if he's really worth 30 million per year.

Also, the move probably would end up being "tax neutral," since the NFL would find a way to get the money back some other way. If you think they're just going to passively open their pockets to the public treasury or anyone else you're delusional.

BTW, the Vikings new stadium has turned into a debacle. The funding the Minnesota legislature came up with was literally a gamble:

That Seahawks win was pretty balls-to-the-wall crazy. From down 20-3 at halftime to a 23-20 OT win!

You can thank Shaub, I'd say. That was a first-rate choke.

Could be the Hawks year, though. Teams that win have to have a dose of luck like that.

The London crowd finally got an exciting game, too. I'd say Cassel's going to be starting from now on for the Viqueens.

Don't look now, but here come the Browns!

As an Eagles fan I'm pretty concerned that we don't have a defense. That was an embarrassing loss to the Broncos for sure, but at least it was a good team we lost to. Not to mention that the leader of the division (Cowboys) are only up 1 win and it's still early in the season.

Working in your favor is the fact that the whole division seems to stink, so you just have to stink a little less.

I'm still picking Dallas to win it this year though, sorry.

My bold prediction for the Jags doesn't seem to be holding up, though. That's as bad a team as I've ever seen. They rival the 0-16 Lions from a few years ago.

I don't blame you. Dallas is pretty underrated...It's still a toss up as of right now though, but if Philly keeps playing such poor defense, or decide to play bad on offense like they did against the Chiefs, then its definitely Dallas' division this year.

Oh hey the Josh Freeman mess is kind of over. I've never quite seen something like this train wreck.
Yeah, what in the world happened to that guy?

It reminds me a little of Kerry Collins. He washed out with a bunch of teams because of his drinking and other problems. Eventually he came back and had a very respectable career. Freeman will get another shot somewhere, so hopefully he can rebuild.

Jacksonville could take a shot with him.

Okay, so I'm single-handedly keeping this thread on life-support. So be it.

Looking like the game in Green Bay on Sunday may be the coldest NFL game ever. Starting at 4:30 in the afternoon, the air temperature may get down to -8F (or -22C), and that's not counting the wind. I'd love to see the Packers win, but even if they don't I'm glad the Niners are going to have to go through the cold to get to the next round.
