Nicest Place to Live in the Wasteland?

Unorthodox Outlander

It Wandered In From the Wastes
As stated by the title, what would be your "dream" home location in the wasteland among the various places shown in the main fallout titles (1,2,3,NV,4)? Your top picks per-game would also work just fine. On another note, these places must be in the vanilla game (cut-content is excused from this rule) as opposed to anything inserted by mods. Furthermore, FO4 settlements will not be included due to the many, many variations that exist.

Yes, I know most of the people here hate FO4 but I felt obligated to include it for that other 1/8 of the population.

For all games- NCR.

It's the only place that I would call nice- you're mostly safe, have access to education and many different career paths, you've got access to professional medical help and commodities like TV, cars and fresh food and water.

In game order The Glow, Gecko (dang, Y U no cut content, I really would love to live in the EPA ^^), Vault 87, Courier's Mile and finally The Glowing Sea, because I REALLY like it warm... xP
Just kidding. For real though I would say The Hub, San Francisco, uuh... nowhere in vanilla FO3 really - just some shack somewhere central, Freeside and finally either Vault 88 or Spectacle Isle. Maybe Nukaworld when I finally paid it a visit (still not touched any DLC ^^")

NCR is pretty nice and its amenities probably come closest to those of pre war towns if you are not able to live in a Vault (or the Institute)
Vault City might be better but you either have to be a born citizen or somehow managed to get citizenship.
Pretty sure that if you can afford it that the Strip is a great place to live but don't expect to start a family there if that is one of your goals.

Fo: Shady Sands, duh. Then I could help steer it away from becoming an imperialistic, overly capitalistic, republic.
2: Dang. Well, maybe it can still avoid becoming more corrupt and dysfunctional.
3: Somehow I think my answer is the Pitt post revolt.
NV: Double dang. Uh...apparently the Divide was great, though I have no idea why Ulysses thought so. Zion looks nice and apparently tribals are lining up to follow someone other than their own chief. Black rock cave if those freaking nightkin will ever do their stupid jerkoff lines again.
4: That island because crab rengue or whatever, and I could pretend that the rest of Boston doesn't exist. Or somewhere near the epicenter of an incoming ICBM I guess.

In the shadow of the valley, I would like to settle down... Wide open space, wind on my face... A distant horizon, the moon on the crest... In the shadow of the valley, that I love best... :D

I have wandered many places, but they're all the same to me... Nowhere I've found... To settle down... A little bit further, I'll find my rest... In the shadow of the valley, That I love best.

On condition of being a citizen, Vault City. Otherwise, NCR, if military service is not obligatory.

Functional Vaults and the Institute do not seem to be bad, but being confined a lifetime to a single place does not seem to be much fun.

....The Madre, I don't like guests or people in general. Hologram security and bartenders and a machine that can make food and drinks and chems and alcohol. Yea sure the locals are a bit a of problem though, on the plus side Dean Domino.

Vault city might had eased up by now, especially if they're getting the mass sum of the NCR; but still they'll probably be elitist, if not overburdened electricity wise.

No love for Arroyo? It seems to be a run-of-the-mill NCR [I'm assuming it's NCR by now] town. Connected, clean, not overcrowded, close to the northern frontier for jobs/adventure, probably has a lot of modern luxuries.

San Fran might not be that bad, either. It's mostly Los Angeles that's a wreck.

I have to say I would't mind living in tenpenny towers. (With no ghouls). I mean it seems really clean you got some shops bunch of guys outside to protect you. And it far enough out of DC. I mean i'm sure Susan Lancaster Could fit into her schedule as well

Well, I suppose the self-sustaining nature of the place certainly gives it added longevity. Out of curiosity, any reasons in particular behind such a choice?

People are overrated and I really REALLY love wacky science. Plus, The Sink has a teleporter and a wide-screen TV. Can't go wrong with that combination.

It's hard to say, since we only see it in post-tribal form as an ending slide stillshot.

FO3: Rivet City. Secure, supplies of food and water. Plenty of interesting people coming through to trade and keep things interesting. And if things go really tits-up you can escape down the Potomac by water.

NV: If we're talking locations actually featured in-game, probably the Strip. It's the safest place around. Work maintenance on one of the casinos, live on-site, or in Freeside if that wasn't an option. Otherwise NCR.

FO1: A functioning vault (if we assume no foreknowledge of the Enclave coming around to wreck things)

FO2: Probably Chinatown. Been a while since I've played it though.
