NMA Podcast Round 5 - Interview with Chris Avellone!

Chris did say he's willing to talk to us again, so we can always ask for another interview.
Sweet! I think a couple hours in advance we all need to jump on in the server and make sure everything is all prepared to avoid any problems like with the recording or my microphone.

Yeah, the technical issues really have to be sorted out prior to anything important.

On that, I think I figured out what happened. My motherboard is an MSI brand and it comes with a built in audio adjuster that pops up any time it detects a plugged in device like my mic. When I checked the settings, Noise Suppression had been turned on, and it wasn't for the fourth podcast. That and my PTT choice may have played a role in causing the mess on my side.

Hm, I also used F4 as my PTT key. Did it cause any problems when I talked?

Nope. You came in clear, and when you took over recording, I could hear myself just fine through your recording. So, it has to be something with my audio adjuster that caused this.

I was using a function key (F4) instead of a letter. I say 'may', though. That Noise Suppression option may be the real culprit.
I've tried using one of the keyboard keys before but feel like it gets in the way with say playing games for example. Found it better to use one of the extra mouse macro buttons instead. So the noise suppression might be the issue? Is that one of the TS settings or sound card settings? I think that could've helped me out on my end.

Both Teamspeak and my MSI audio software can use Noise/Echo adjustment options. Since I had both of them working at once, they might have conflicted.

At present, I'm working through the first half of the interview. It's going really smoothly so far.

I'm putting together a sample video right now.

I'm slightly past where the video ends, but this is just to show what the final product is going to look like.

If there's enough interest, or I get some hours to myself within the next two days, I will rerecord my botched lines and splice them into another video to extract for an mp3 download.

And if you can't get time to record, you could just make the written questions show up on screen, like a documentary interview :D

Already doing that for this sample video, and the final one. They'll appear before Chris' parts, then fade out as he speaks.

EDIT: Rendering now. Shouldn't be too much longer before I can post it. (Hopefully, the music track doesn't get flagged. If it does, it's go.)

EDIT #2: Here's the sample video link.

If you need any help with anything I can be of some assistance.
