No Mission Briefings or NPC dialog in Bunkers ABCD or E

Pfft. Hell I'll make an ISO of CD3 for ya and post it on my sever. You might have to keep the download going for a while though.
(Even though It'll mean I'll have to put another Hard Drvie in the thing, which I've been meaning to do anyway.

EDIT: Erm, aparantly I can't send it to you through NMA because it's against the rules, so I'll give you my msn name and I can give you the link through that. My msn name is calculon00@hotmail.com. Suprising, I know.

Dialog's missing!!

Hi,
I'm new to the forum although I have visited this site quite a lot.
after finally getting fallout tactics and arriving at the last bunker,
I suddenly realised that I could no longer hear or read any dialogs from any NPC.

So my main problem is I do not know what the next missions are about and what I must do to complete them.
Also the game is not so much fun if you don't know what everyone is telling you.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? or does anyone know a solution to this problem?

Thnx,
Pias

Yes people have experienced this problem, lots of them it's probably one of the most common threads on this forum if you'd looked.

Your loc-mis_E.bos hasn't installed properly or it's corrupt on your disc. Try doing a manual install and cleaning the CD. It should be 23,670KB.

Merged similar topics into super 'no dialog in bunker #' thread.

I guess I missed this one,

I was able to test the core files with winrar, and I was able to repair loc-mis_E.bos.
Now the characters talk to me again,
Wich is a good thing but the General doesn't give me a new mission. With this I mean he tells me al my missions are completed, and before the repair I could look at a briefing without a dialog.
I also discovered that spr-character_E.bos is corrupted but winrar is unable to repair it.

anyone who knows what I could do? because my cd's are cleaned and file replacement doesn't work.

I've just merged several threads together, you must of missed them all.

Now that you've fixed the loc-mis_E.bos go back to an earlier save from before you entered the bunker and see if that helps.

Are you able to open spr-character_E.bos at all? If so try extracting the contents, one at a time, to sprites\characters (it's just two files, the vault male & female). If that fails try the cd on a different drive/computer I had a similar problem and was able to install the file in question by using a different cd drive.

Yeah, us moderators will forgive you all, because sadly, there are no other results for "missing dialogues" :D

:D
sorry about that,

I keep getting the message that the sprite file for the vault male is corrupt on al my cd/dvd player when i enter the disk.

I have one cd writer, one dvd player and on dvd writer.

I will eventually check if it works if I enter the map from a previous save, It will take some time since my previous save is at the beginning of the great bend.

Thnx for your help, I forgot to thank you in my last post so... here it is.

Did you try doing a manual install from the cd writer? As I said I had a similar problem my dvd player wouldn't install one of the robot sprite files as it said the Behemoth sprite was corrupted, but I could do a manual install from my cd writer and then once it was on my hard drive I was able to extract it and did not have any other problems with it.

Though I still wasn't able to open the bos file directly off the cd.

yep tried that,
I can open it on al my dvd/cd drives but the male sprite seems to be damaged and can't be extracted. The female sprite however can be extracted.

It looks like I have to replay my last 3 missions and hope I can continue after that.

thnx for your help.

Yeah I could open my file on my dvd drive it kept telling me that the behemoth sprite was corrupt, and it wouldn't let me extract the sprite, but I manually copied the whole file from my cd drive to my hard drive and then I was able to extract the sprite. Though if it lets you manually copy the bos file to your hard drive you probably can get away without needing to extract anything.

But if you can't do that just copy the female sprite and rename it VaultMale.spr, then at least you'll get the entities showing up in the end missions, though they are mainly there just for scenery.

No briefs in Bunker Epsilon! Help me please!

I have a big problem: I have played the game without problems until I reached Bunker Epsilon, where I can't talk to anyone except General Dekker, who gives me the Buena Vista mission but without a briefing. Simply put, there's no conversation sound or text from Bunker Epsilon on. Why do I have this problem? How can I solve it? Thanks.

I'm really sorry, I tried searching but got tired after some pages (my dial-up net is REALLY slow  ).

Sorry, but I didn't understand very well; I must make a manual install of the loc-mis_E.bos, but how exactly do I do a manual install? I have to just copy the file in the CD to the core folder? If it's that, I did it, but no results. I had a save before entering bunker epsilon, but no results anyway.

I also didn't understand the deal with Winrar; how exactly can I use Winrar to 'heal' the corrupted/damaged file?

Thanks for merging the post and not ass-kicking me. :P

Yeah manual install is just copying the file across, but if it's corrupted on the cd then it won't make much difference.

In Winrar amongst the options, extract, delete, etc there should be one to repair the archive. I don't use winrar, so perhaps someone who does may be able to help you further but IIRC if it can repair it, it'll make a new copy perhaps as a zip which you can rename and change the extension to .bos to replace the corrupted version.

That did it man! Thanks a lot for the help, I was about to dip my Tactics in the vats and play Diablo 2 again - I'm short on games these days, thanks to my old GeForce 5500 (yeah, I'd play FO2 for the 30th time, but I want some brainless action ^^).
