Let's hope our fellow Fallout fan is ok and just taking a break from the internet for a while.

He hadn't uploaded in well over 6 months. I also recall that he uploaded a review of New Vegas and in that review, he said he was depressed and not wanting to upload more stuff to youtube. He ended up deleting the New Vegas review like a couple of days later after the upload.

It's a shame because i enjoyed his videos. Specially his Fallout 4 review.

Yeah, that Fallout 4 movie was absolutely legendary, which is why I felt the need to make this thread. From what I understand, fans of the developer Yoko Taro were not happy with his analysis of Nier Automata. MisterCaption obviously took pride in his work which is why that crushed him. I was really hoping to see more from him. Depression sucks.

He was a very good reviewer but alas, Depression got to him.
Depression just sucks in general, it really fucked me over last year (which is partly why I haven't really been around for a year and why my slashfic took so long to finish).

Luckily I saved a lot of his stuff on my Laptop. But yeah, I used to be part of his Discord and everything.
I hope he returns one day, I'll like to hear more from him.

That is a problem I have noticed with fandoms today. You so much as make a polite criticism of something or someone and fans take great offense at it. Like if you insulted them personally. It also doesn't help that snot nosed kids on the internet like to hide behind their anonymity and take sadistic glee in ruining someones life or driving them off social media. Fandoms today are a lot like religions. If someone criticize, questions or interprets the fandom differently then that heretic must suffer and burn in hellfire."How dare he/she insult something we love! We will destroy them in the good name of (insert fandom)! That will show em!"

Yeah, agreed. Some of this shit where people are releasing personal information and calling SWAT teams to their enemy's houses is just unreal. Especially when it's because they said they preferred the pink My Little Pony over the purple one.

I'm reading some stuff (although not confirmed) on suicide.
I don't want to humour that idea because it is a serious thing to discuss and I don't want to speculate for obvious reasons.
But instead I'll say there seemed to have been many factors to him leaving.
The whole getting things wrong with Nier and backlash from fans just seemed to be the final nail.

For the most part, while I loved his stuff, his best work was when he was talking about RPGs, yet he could never shake off the Fallout formula. He would always go back to that series even when he tried to get away from it. He also had a habit of starting new series and abandoning them rather quickly.

It's a shame we never got to see his true potential, but I would have guessed his channel would have been very limited to what it was going to cover.

Still, it would have been nice to see more from him

And yes, fanbases are the worst which is why get annoyed whenever people on this site directly attack people at Bethesda. They are just doing a job and if we don't think they are doing a good job, we have a right to criticise them, but we don't have a right to go out of our way to attack them.

The Fallout series seem to be definitely the one he had the most passion for. But it got rather obvious that he was getting tired of talking about it, what with the review of Fallout 3 and 4 and some of their respective DLCs.

He definitely wanted to branch out to other series, but the internet is a really harsh place.

Yeah, I saw that too but I doubt any of those guys know any more than we do. The only confirmed part of the story is that he was upset and deleted the channel. Like I said, hopefully he's alright.

Yeah, I was hoping for at least one more home run like No Todds. I took a lot of design notes listening to his channel. He would be the best, most articulate play tester in the history of game development.

Gotta download all these reuploads for myself before it's too late. I've gotten No Todd's and the DLC ones but I've put off the Fallout 3 ones for too long.

Edit: Arg, The Pitt Video is the only one I can't find available anywhere.

Hi! I am the re-uploader of the videos and the one in this thread (HD version uploaded thanks to another dude). Could you, please, supply your versions of the videos too? If the Fallout 3 videos are of higher quality I can put them out for everyone and I also do not have any of the DLC videos which is why I am beating myself over all this time.

Thanks to everyone again and I really hope Caption is ok and will come back.
Cheers!

Or when people write lemon fanfictions between two characters. Disgusting. Why can't they just leave our precious series alone for once!? I hate Fallout MLP as well. The whole concept of it lets you know that 40-year-old bronies or whatever you fuckin' call em' came up with it lol.

I have information on him.A friend of his revealed that Caption decided to leave because of depression which you can see in his new vegas video. I don't know if he is coming back tho

It's always the good reviewers that die off. Meanwhile, that reject MrMattyPlays is still (kinda) shilling and polishing Todd's Gauss Rifle. I mean, his currect channel avatar is utter trash made in MS Paint and yet he has 334,853 subs as of the writing of this post? What. The. Hell.

I will probably come across as ignorant on this, but somebody who shares that they are depressed in what is a product presented to a wide audience is just basically telling me that they need a change. Getting involved with games for too long can make you quite anxious in various ways, anger included, because of neuro-erosion. Even the medical authority is wizening up to this.

Serious game criticism has got this huge drawback attached to it: somebody is investing a lot of mental energy into a thing that is essentially not meant to be taken seriously. I am sorry to be breaking it down like this, but it sounds like this person is rather unfulfilled. 3 hour long video... c'mon, they need a life...

That is not to say that I don't endorse game criticism, or F4, or Beth criticism for that matter, but a 3 hour long video seems like too much to me. What is there in that video that cannot be said in under 30 minutes?

The review was pretty a deconstruction of the entire base game and he had a lot to say. I honestly don't give a shit how long it is.

Ah, the implication of "no life" because one dedicates a lot to a single thing. One of the stupidest things to say in the internet.

^^^This. Too many people I know obsess over, I'm sorry guys, worthless bullshit. These games are ultimately bullshit and real lives can be lived out there...or at least I am told.

Find new things to love. I beg you. Or you will end up miserable and depressed like whoever the fuck this guy is.

---

It's not just the games thing. It's letting it depress you because of whatever thing you like being turned into something else. People let what they like control their lives to a degree, sometimes, that is severely unhealthy.
