Obsidian making Dungeon Siege 3?

Dungeon Siege is a game?

On that note, this is actually a great opportunity for Obsidian to break new ground. They are going to release the world's first buggy screensaver.

Bioware is the only developer left that regularly churns out decent RPGs for the PC, and they're plenty busy already.
10 years between BG2 and Dragon Age isn't exactly what I would qualify as "regularly", dude.

though I have to say the concept art really looks interesting. If and only IF the game will be done in a top down perspective I might be interested.

I am so fucked up right now from all this "over the shoulder/third person/first person" RPGs. Dragon Age was a nice change in that part. But still not what I expected.

I'm so sick of Diablo type games. there's never anything remotely new and original in that genre. the first Diablo game is the only one that is actually good.

remains to be seen if they manage to change this trend.

Everyone knows Obsidian is a company incapable of completing a game properly, maybe they have been too rushed to erase the bugs with their software, and they wouldn’t be the first company to suffer from this sort of thing. But frankly who cares if Obsidian make the next installment of Dungeon Siege, it was a shit title to start with, and just demonstrates how far the industry has sunk if something like this is considered worthwhile to pursue.

Not that I recall, but I was just making a general reference to the lack of good RPG’s in development. I actually played Dungeon Siege once, but I can’t remember a single thing about it other than I was regretting even installing it on my computer. But the game whores of this world aren’t always that fussy. :look:

yeah ... but look at the recent trend. They usualy take good titles to make shitty sequels from it. Here they take a shit title to make eventualy a good sequel to it ?

Who knows. Who cares ? As you people already said if they make a bad dungeon siege 3 ... so what. If they make a good game out of it. Awesome.

Its not like we have to loose here anything in the end

I've never played Dungeon Siege, actually.

But I saw the movie, hurr durr.

Well, there's this obscure post-apocalyptic RPG that got a shitty sequel not too long ago, I think it's called Flyout or something.

I thought he was referring to Obsidians take on IPs? And they have yet to make the sequel so we can't really judge it. And if he is referring to KoTOR or NWN, then he is just a retard.

Zacepi.

it was more meant in general. As the nice Ratty assumed correctly.

And well Obsidian is doing it now. Thats already enough of a example. We have to wait and see what they make out of it. You know a "third person wana be Kotor like exeperience" or something different. Time will tell.

I'm probably alone in this, but I think both NWN 2 and KotOR 2 actually managed to be worse than the originals - and that's coming from someone who loathed NWN 1.

Euhm, no he isn't.

KOTOR2 and NWN2 were both more buggy and less interesting overall than their predecessors?

Atleast KotoR 2 was better in my eyes than the predecessor, but that might more have to do with the style of campaign being more inline with what my own PnP campaigns are for StarWars.
NWN2 I'm a bit ambigous about, because I can't actually remember much of the game, it was'nt very memorable to me - except for how bad the game ran on my computer until a year or so later with patching.

Now I wonder, might I be one of the very, very few here that still actually owns Dungeon Siege 1?

I can't reflect on the NWN games as I never played those, but I found KOTOR2 to be more personal than KOTOR1.

You were on a personal quest of your own, the New Republic barely noticed you let alone the Sith this time as they were far more busy with problems more pressing.

KOTOR 2 had better features, was more challenging (I felt) and the plot as well as the choices were better. Your actions had a profound impact on the meetings with the Jedi on each planet. That being said, I enjoyed the worlds in the original a lot more.

It was easier to feel some sort of motivation, yeah, and from what I remember from the games the character gallery was a bit more interesting too.

Yes, the premiss of both of those games are far more interesting than that of it's predecessor. Sure, they were buggy as hell, but great games nontheless.
