Thanks for the clarification. But have our snipers reloaded for anti-ordinance (armor piercing incindiary) at this point?

Black is using ball ammo. I'm not even certain if they have incendiary ammo with them, as the main threat they've been expecting to face is infected people who don't use vehicles. In any case, he wouldn't want to use incendiary ammo now. As long as he hits (92% or less) he can fire clean through the helicopter without hitting anything but people. If he misses, he may hit something else. If he critically misses (96% or more) it could get really nasty. He'd definitely be better off using the Barrett than the M4.

I plan to update later tonight. Stompie hasn't posted for about three weeks, and he hasn't posted IC for over a month, so I'll temporarily take over his characters for now.

Welsh,
I got your PM. I edited my post to erase Luke's name. However I am sure that while he was guarding the helicopter earlier he looked around and saw someone on the garage roof. So I reflected that in the post instead.

hey guys. Guess I went AWOL for a while. still AWOL, to be honest. I'll get back to you guys here. I have every intention to continue RP.

If the troopers are close to the helicopter, they could try to storm it. shooting the pilots at close range. Bob can't strap in and aim a pistol at two or more people at the same time.

Welcome back, Stompie! I'll wait until this weekend before updating to give you a chance to catch up and get back into the game - plus I have little time during the week. This is a pivotal moment, and Ortega and Wallace could play key roles.

Currently, the only military people near the chopper are Ortega, Ramirez, and Lt. Blanco. The latter two are armed only with pistols, but Ortega has his M-16 (he also has a grenade launcher, but using it around the chopper is not advised) and is wearing body armor. Everybody else is at least 80 yards away, and currently only the snipers have line of sight to the helicopter from the motel.

However, keep in mind that Wallace has just exited the garage and has his rifle ready. Kimberly and Joe Barring are also outside the garage, and they both have shotguns. They are 20 yards from the chopper, and thus they could conceivably both hit all three of the people from Warren at the chopper for 2d6 damage apiece (4d6 on an impale). And Kimberly has an 18 Dex...

Even so, shotguns at 20 yards, if the troopers close on the helicopter quickly, could turn really ugly. With helicopters and soldiers within the same line of fire- those with shotguns would have a difficult time missing the helicopter, no? Shotgun damage to the helicopter could just as easily ground it.

I would think that a shotgun that misses has a high likelihood of damaging other people as well as materials (the helicopter).

shotguns can be loaded with slugs.

giving rifle accuracy to about 50 meters.

missing ofc would be rather painful for the people in the chopper. but potentially you could aim for the legs, as it would impact on concrete if you miss, rather than the chopper.

12 gauge slug to the leg = kiss you leg goodbye.

That's true, but Kimberly and Joe don't have time to unload their shotguns and swap in slugs for buckshot. They do have time to aim for the legs, however. This also means that Ortega's body armor wouldn't reduce the damage if he's hit. He, Blanco, and Ramirez backed away from the helicopter earlier. If they start running moving towards it, Kimberly will be able to fire before they get anywhere, and if they're hit in the legs they probably won't be going anywhere at all. Aiming for the legs requires using precision aim and taking a -5% to hit penalty, as with a head shot. If they fired at chest or head level, they would risk hitting the chopper. If they go for the legs, it wouldn't happen except on a critical failure (shooting too high).

well, 00 buckshot is more likely to ricochet off the concrete, but it most likely wouldn't have sufficient power left to break through the helicopter's hull or windows.

I didn't get a PM from you. I got an email notification during the weekend that I had received a PM, but it didn't say who it was from and nothing appeared in my Inbox. Can you resend it?

Thanks! I got your PM and replied to it.

EDIT: Just because McCain failed his Persuade roll does not mean Lt. Malone disagrees. As it happens, she's inclined to support removing Lereux from command anyway. You can edit out her reaction - I'll write it myself when I update.

also, McCain will never (military-wise) be in command as long as there are 2 lieutenants on the field with him.

if he removes Lereux, Lt Malone is next in command (the other Lt is out of the chain of command here, i believe)

so McCain won't be assuming command (unless he wants to remove Malone as well), rather, he'll be removing someone from the command structure.

strange to see him pull a 180° like that btw.

Thanks, SuAside. I had meant to point that out too. Lt. Blanco is actually U.S. Army and not USAF. She answered to Lereux while he was in command. She and Malone are both 1st Lieutenants, but Malone is senior and was the executive officer for this mission. Javier Ramirez also technically holds the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, so there are actually three other officers.

Mr. Handy,
i know that you are a very busy man but i was wondering since everyone who usually posts has posted now, would you be updating before Saturday? The reason I ask is that I would like to see the results of what McCain has done recently.

It probably will be Saturday when I update, though I hope to update as early as possible then. I don't expect to have much time during the week this week, but in the next week or two I hope to speed things up to two major updates per week. I'm also off from work the first two weeks of September, which should give me time to update even more rapidly as long as all players post frequently enough. I'm hoping we can get at least six major updates done during my time off. Rest assured that Malone does support removing Lereux from command.
