Opening music

Mr Sandman isn't bad, if it weren't for the miscellaneous "fap fap fap fap" sound in the background.

Maybe the Chordettes have another good song...

Something from 1950's or '60's, would be expected. Or if they can write a new song that has the feel(which is quite difficult) of that eras.

Lollipop :D

Johhny Cash - Hurt doesn't sound too bad now I think about it. I'm still trying to think up some more...

Nat king Cole's "Unforgettable"

"Unforgettable, that's what you are
Unforgettable though near or far
Like a song of love that clings to me
How the thought of you does things to me
Never before has someone been more

Unforgettable in every way
And forever more, that's how you'll stay
That's why, darling, it's incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am unforgettable too

<instrumental interlude>

Unforgettable in every way
And forever more, that's how you'll stay
That's why, darling, it's incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am unforgettable too"

Who can forget their first time moment of playing Fallout? :D

Yeah, and then who will remember the moron that wanted to skullfuck it into a FPS game, much like the rest of the other Counter-Strike idiots? :D

As for "Unforgettable", not only is it overplayed as hell for anyone over 20, it doesn't fit the style as it is more crooner and less of the instrumental style of the Ink Spots and Louis Armstrong, both of which were picked for a reason.

I would suggest "We'll meet again"! I only know Johnny Cash's Version from "The Man comes around" but i guess there's an older version from the 50s, because the song sounds very 50s like.

YES!

I was thinking of making a thread like this and suggest that song since I got the album and first heard Cash's version of the song earlier this year, but it seems I've been beaten by about a year.

Anyway, my reason for giving my vote for this song is that, like the first two, it is kind of sad, but also optimistic. I think that fits good into the Fallout post-apocalyptic setting, both in-game and on a bigger level for the series. Finally, having it in the credit, it would be like a "goodbye" to the fans after completing the game, but with a ever-so-slightly hope of more to come. :)

I think this has been pointed out before.

We'll Meet Again is the theme song of Dr Strangelove, a movie almost every Fallout fan knows.

I have a thought...

We'll meet again is a little over used, but it would fit fallout 3 so well. Not only is round the right era, it also is to do with the war and the lyrics would be great for fallout fans, we will meet again, fallout 3...You know... You could do 'somewhere over the rainbow' as well, the original version of that song would fit pretty well. Just a thought, comments?.

Bobby Darin's "Beyond the Sea" would sound good in Fallout 2 if it played in the background while the tanker sails away into the sunset and heads for the Enclave. I always felt something was needed to set a bit of a lighter mood before the endgame, while the endgame itself should be darker and more dramatic than it is (I wonder whose stupid decision it was to make the President of the Enclave and his vice president fucking *parodies*. It was probably someone who inhaled the exact same substance as the genius who deemed tribal shamans, ghosts and mafia bosses would fit well in a Fallout game.)

The Vice President, President, Horrigan, and the Enclave soldiers on the Oil Rig are all parodies to some extent... though I only say that about the soldiers because they're all constantly singing "The Ballad of Roger Young" from Starship Troopers. DUR HUR POP CULTURE 4 TEH WIN

Er... anyway, I agree with Ratty.

Reading all these fantastic ideas (I especially loved somewhere over the rainbow) makes me pray that Bethesda actually visits this forum.

Reading all the stupid ideas without any backing (I especially found "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" retarded and unimaginatively used for an over-used song), almost makes me wish that Bethesda didn't read these forums. It is getting to the point where I'm about to say "fuck it, you people don't even have a clue what Fallout entails, so you DESERVE to play any botched whoreware Bethesda releases".

Twilight Time
By Morty Nevins & Al Nevins (I think; my MP3 doesn't have info)
This song almost screams Fallout. Lines like "Deepening shadows," and "The after glow of day," are eerily similar to Fallout's setting (with the after glow being radiation of course). Here's my idea for the opening: The screen slowly brightens to reveal several mushroom clouds covering the Earth. As they diminish, the song's short musical opening begins, and the lyrics closely follow the events on screen. As the singer says, "Heavenly shades of night are falling," the sun should start to be blotted out from the sky. When he says, "In the after glow of day," fallout should begin to fall on the ruins of the once great cities. That's all I have for my idea.

I'd also like to give props to Spawn of Santa for all of his ideas.

hi all! I`m Cem

I think Led zepplein`s "Stairway to heaven" or goo goo dolls` "name" can be good for fallout 3.
Of course i don`t want to interrupt 45`s tradition; i love all songs of Louis Armstrong So it will be fine if a jazz or blues music to be put. I think Bethesda games should respect to prior games of fallout and make the game 2D !!!! Even they can create a game with the same motor of Fallout 2.

Sorry for my bad english.
I will be better in the future.
I promise.

Whatever it's gonna be, I just pray to the Master that it's not gonna be anything by Jeremy Soule. Bethesda people are for some reason obsessed with that guy - see Oblivion for proof.

Just one of many things to be worried about.

I think Led zepplein`s "Stairway to heaven"

Led Zeppelin have countless songs that could really work, "Going to California","When the Levee Breaks","The Rain Song","Over the hills and far away","The Ocean." I could go on...

Though they are distinctly unfifty's, and I run teh risk of getting flamed to death, I'm gonna say that Dream Theater could make a good soundtrack, as they rock at concept albums and atmospheric music.

*smacketh*

Dream Theater, sure. Why not Rob Zombie while you're at it? :D

Have you ever heard Dream Theater? They are a group of grade 8 musicians who can create atmospheric, creepy music like no-one else. Rob Zombie are over-rated horrible scratchy guitar crapliness.
There's a fairly big differene.

I'm a huge fan of Dream Theater. In fact, I saw their latest classic album cover in Amsterdam. But in no way should they do a Fallout soundtrack.
Have you ever actually listened to the two opening songs Fallout has had until now? They were classic 50s-esque songs that captured the feel of the fifties, and had a very sentimental feel and a bit of longing to it. Now, take Portnoy's multi-measured drumming, Petruccis ace-guitars, Myung's great bass-playing and Rudess' melodic keyboard playing. That doesn't work for Fallout. For god's sake, they make *Progressive Metal*, not classic 50s pop, jazz or anything else from that period or with that feel.

And using them as background music won't work either. Fallout's background music was calm, subdued, few instruments and very much trying to be part of the surroundings. Dream Theater doesn't do that. They make very different music.
