Outfit Construction Discussion (I NEED FAN HELP...ALL FANS!)

Whoa!

Ok that suit is actually done perfectly in the Tron style and I admit it must have been somewhat difficult to find and attach that glowing material for the real effect.

Though if he's gonna wear a skin-tight outfit...ugh.

Oh and good to have you back Frissy.

As for your comment in particular I plan to take the "weathered wanderer" outfit when its complete and leave it outside exposed to the elements for months. The hot, cold, dry, wet, and any condition to make it worn out particularly bleached by the sun. If there's one thing I notice more than anything about the ending movie PC its that the blue suit is very faded from sunbleaching which obviously happens in desert environments.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

about the hair: you didn't seem to have extremely long hair, so what you do is (to be a litle more serius than last time) just before you're going to the thing, take some fine sand in it and "fluff" it up with your hands.

I mentioned earlier in that huge post (so big you probably missed it) that the convention I'm going to is Otakon 2007 in August. Its held yearly in Baltimore Maryland and is the one of the two largest anime conventions held each year in the USA. Otakon is the East Coast's largest whereas theres another one in Los Angeles for the West Coast.

Just to say it again its not this years convention (Otakon 2006). I'm planning this a whole year ahead of time so I have plenty of time if I make a mistake and need to start over or find something better and need to re-do something. For example the clothes could get destroyed after six months of leaving them outside for the "weathered wanderer" outfit and I may need to only leave them out three months beside order more clothes which I would have time to do in a year.

I mean I have no idea how long it should take, but if I do it properly this discussion and finding/ordering all the supplies shouldnt take more than a month or two. However you have to factor in the time it takes to prepare (the "weathered wanderer" outfit needs to be worn out by real exposure to the elements) and I also want to work out a little more and lose a substantial amount of weight.

I forgot to mention this, but in my opinion my muscle size fits the ending movie PC or maybe a little bigger. My fat however...my legs have almost no fat, my arms have a moderate amount, but my stomach and waist still have enough to grab and fold. Its strange that parts of my body lost fat and others lost none. I need to lose at least 10 pounds of fat at least if not 20.

As it stands I previously ate around 2,400 calories a day with little junk food and exercised an hour every other day. I've changed my diet so I only eat 2,200 calories a day with almost no junk food and I exercise an hour and a half every other day. Also the extra exercise is jogging which removes fat more than builds muscle. Considering my weight stayed the same for months before the small amount of calories less and that little bit of extra exercise should make me lose weight. I have plenty of time so if that doesnt work I can do more.

Currently I'm 185 pounds at 6'0". I'll have pictures posted so you can all see the condition of my body and my hair. Thanks for bringing that up Baboon.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

*EDIT*

That picture of me is over 2 years old and I had short hair. I look substantially different now.

If the costume is good, or even interestingly exotic (which I strongly suspect with an anime crowd), you should garner quite a few photos. Perhaps you might even wind up on A Fan's View.

You might want to check out Cosplay.com for more technical advice, they have an active community with quite a bit of experience in costuming.

start boxing or something like that...
and instead of jogging an hour and a half, find some big stones that you can just lift and carry them as fast as you can say, ten meters, doing that every other day for a year will definatly give your hands a more weathered look.
Also, hard *physical* work (building stuff of stones, using hammers, using sledgehammers, etc.) is definatly the way to give you the weathered look...just go to a building construction site and look at the people there, most of them are in fairly good shape, and every single one of them has bigger hands then you, provided you don't have above normal sized hands yourself...only thing is the average worker eats alot of junkfood, heh.

I was waiting for your post knowing how helpful youd be with all your knowledge of the subject and one of the few anime fans here. :D

I figure that even if my outfit doesnt garner questions I suppose the pictures will give me some funny links to post. I know from browsing for pictures before that pretty much anyone who goes to a convention brings a camera then uploads the pictures into a gallery sometimes maintained proffessionaly or sometimes as a simple blog.

I'll start asking questions on that cosplay forum once I decide exactly what clothes/accessories I need.

Thanks for that advice. I would imagine the drying of the sand would make it fluff. I would never have remembered if not for you.

Use makeup. You can paint scars and blisters and everything.

And don't forget to build stimpacks! There IS NO vault dweller without stimpacks!

Climbing ropes will give you more or less the same look and are more aerobic.

It actually doesn't, cause satisfying yourself with porn creates an emission of protein, with is bad cause the protein is the building plot of with your muscles are filled with, so the release of that emission is BAD for your hand muscles. But still it's not a good reason to stop it. Wanker, I AM ONE OF THEM. :D

Sorry to take a bit in getting back to this, but I think a set of suits that "progress" along the VD's early adventures would be the most recognizable and most cost-efficient.

So that would mean:

1. Fresh From The Vault Suit
2. A suit a bit worn and tattered, maybe some scorch marks and tears like radscorpion claws (if you want, I'd suggest that you use some fake wound make-up for underneath the suit.
3. Leather Armor. Finding a cheap 50'sish style leather jacket and ripping one arm off of it would work the best, old scuffed denim and a good leather belt would also work.

This might be helpfull. At least pretty interesting....

...for all of you!

Edit:

This is also pretty neat.

Wow. His suit is really well done though it feels too fresh.. he should have "stored" it outside for a while just like The_Vault_Dweller suggested.

I got myself
30-760.jpg

The pic sucks. These boots are darker (not so redish) and the sole is darker... almost brown!

Steel caps, acid and oil resistant, very VERY comfortable!

I'll fix up some random PA pics in the outback if i finaly get myself a digicam. I only have a sony handycam... wait... headache with pictures... IDEA! I'll make a short PA flick!
