I question the validity of this map. It appears to show a US military base in Canada. A US base that is actually (from what I can see on that map) a Canadian Base CFB Coldlake/Weapons range that we let the US use. We also let the UK use our weapons ranges.

Now as for the US reducing there military bases. While most on here see it as Manifest Destiny in reality we should all thank the Americans for doing this and the Americans should be happy they did. I wish I could find them but I have read a few articles of how different world trade would be without those bases and the security the Americans gave the world to make the wonderful interconnected trade we have today.

It says some of those are joint bases, but I mostly agree.

It'd be nice if people stopped shitting on us for having them but since that's not going to ever happen I'd be pretty content with watching what happens when they're not there anymore. As was pointed out, we'd probably save a fair amount of money. That alone is pretty attractive, given we're what, trillions in debt?

God, I remember as a kid having to live in what my mother described as "a crackerbox" of a house in SoCal. Thing had a faulty septic tank, the washer drained directly to the backyard and the water source was actually poisoning us (p. sure it was an old well, we were too rural for it to be municipal water I think). Bonus points: methlab right down the road and constant stench from old poultry barns nearby. And that place looks GOOD compared to some of the situations in Lowndes. Fuck sake.

So apparently Trump has "broken protocol" and offended the Queen of England, causing incredible amounts of butthurt to emanate from such respected (*cough*) sources as the Daily Mail.

I find the whole thing pretty hilarious, to be honest.

Kinda messed up. That one lady and many like her, living without even a septic tank. And septic tanks really aren't ideal. So strange. US, the richest nation in the world and many states, including Texas, supposedly wealthier than many European nations. Where is that wealth? Why aren't they helping their own citizens?

As for disrespecting the queen of UK, you are welcome to do that. Just don't except much co-operation from your no. 1 European ally UK in the future in your wars.

If this is the new 'Trump-thread' then Trump and Putin are going to meet tomorrow in Helsinki Finland. Not sure what the meeting is even about but I'm sure the world media will be all gaga there and whatever stupid stuff Trump says will be worshiped. Like for example "The EU is the enemy".

In Colombia there is also a trend towards Nihilism on right wingers and "centrists" when confronted with the fact that Colombia is a shit hole and that they voted for a puppet. Being the third most inequal country is whatever because there are still other two countries worse off, being the sixth most uneducated country is also not important because people can still make money driving taxis, and the president being a joke even before taking office is okay because other presidents are also jokes.

Just burn this Banana field already....

I have come to realize that most forms of modern nationalism in the west are nihilism meant to replace the role of God
 
I have also realized my folly in appealing to centrism. At least in Colombia They are probably the most egocentric political group and their philosophy is inaction, basically any inconformism a centrist voices is just meant for sport, as a hobby, to show they aren't crazy like THOSE PEOPLE. But at the same time they, almost pathologically, scramble to make sure their statements aren't too poignant or seem like they are calling for action because they also have to show they aren like THOSE OTHER PEOPLE.

It depends on the individual country and what is going on within it. My country has been hijacked by radicals on all sides so it seems to me that a little moderation is in Order. As for your question about the guy imitating Porky Pig - I have no idea.
 
I mean, my country has been seized by radicals for decades now, and all centrists do is make excuses to justify not taking any kind of political action, even as the leftist candidate reached out to center and center left parties to come to an agreement (you know, moderation and reaching a common goal being the point) they still rejected him because he wasn't full center, some even voting for the Uribist puppet because "I rather not have change, it could be bad". even tho they still opposed the policies the guy paraded around. It's making me think a lot of the lukewarm attitude of centrists here just translates to excuse making.
