There have been several leaked videos, one going through the game from start to finish.

The plot is ridiculous.

O RLY? I have not seen this plot. I pretty sure it could be no more ridiculous then Fallout 2 doing the same thing as Fallout 1, by starting with a quest for a civilization saving object that turns into another quest that involves an advanced organization of bad guys and you having to destroy them.

I hope the 'bad main quest' is an exaggeration, I want it to be at least decent. Haven't/won't read through the main plot until I play it myself.

It's roughly the same in structure. And that's fine, Fallout has a tradition of light, non-intrusive, non-linear plots that remain in the background.

Fallout 3's plot is not only more linear, it's also a lot more stupid. The basic premise is not dissimilar, but it clashes with the originals in canon, uses your father as a stupid hook, and finally descends into pure cliché stupidity, that is...
[spoiler:4053dde5bb]The president is a computer, a super giant robot helps you in the end, and stupid BoS chick walks into a radiation-filled area without a helmet on in a faux-dramatic moment[/spoiler:4053dde5bb]

Nah, believe you me, the Fallout 1/2 plot were just "not good" (well, Fallout's was good, especially the history of Richard Grey, but Fallout 2's wasn't), they were simply not what the game was about. Fallout 3's plot goes beyond that. It's stupid.

Fallout 2 over-did it. The Enclave is too one-sidedly evil, led by a mad-man with a tenacious grasp of reality that just seems to want to exterminate everyone for the heck of it.

Nevermind the Vault experiments.

Well I haven't said its an incredible good plot BN, just that I liked it ;)

Doesn't mean I wanted to be repeated in a new Fallout game.

[spoiler:26b911e1c9]I still don't see the stupidity. Giant robots were everywhere in 50's comics. The president being a computer doesn't really seem stupid as long as they pull it off well. Also, Rad-X. Remember that little drug? The one that makes you resist radiation? And the BoS probably has lots of it.[/spoiler:26b911e1c9]

And - no joke - if you do help the Treeminders Harold will be happy anyway 'coz he'll be at peace knowing he's helping people and shit.[/spoiler:d1078000f4]
[spoiler:d1078000f4]Horay choices and consequences! Horay responsibillity! Fucking hell, if you do what he wants then he's happy! If you do the exact opposite of what he wants then he's happy![/spoiler:d1078000f4]

That wasn't a full plot summary, I'd check out the thread about pirated videos being leaked and the SPOILERS thread in the "Suggestions" forum for a more complete summary.

[spoiler:722c2d0c92]1. OH GOD NO NOT THIS ARGUMENT AGAIN.

Sorry, but I'm pretty much fed up with "50's did it, 50's did it!" Ever since Chuck Cuevas showed us cheesecake shots to justify that the heroine in BoS wears a thong, this argument has been invalid. Just because the 50's did it doesn't mean it fits into Fallout by default.

2. It's not so much stupid as it is a tired, predictable "plot twist"

3. She hasn't taken Rad-X, she's walking into a radiated area in a suit that protects against radiation in an act of self-sacrifice...without putting her helmet on. It just doesn't work.[/spoiler:722c2d0c92]

Bottom left screenshot, the armour, I love it

Aye, the face being a bit human gives him a slightly more demon-esque look, but that was to be expected out of the transition from 2D to 3D anyway - after all, the deathclaw is based in look on D&D lore.

The face is definitely iffy. And they might've overdone it one the horns. But overall pretty good.

What worries me is that the deathclaws just stands there while he can clearly see the PC. I hope there's an explanation for that and it's not another civilized, talking deathclaws that parleys over tea.

Well, if they wanted to avoid a WotC lawsuit, they could have gone for a more chameleon-like head or base the mouth more on the version in FO1 manual.

Is it just me or is that Deathclaw remarkably like this one from the gallery? Perhaps they used it as a model?

[spoiler:ec100e19a9]Wow, Beth managed to fuck up both moral ambiguity and choices and consequences with one stroke of the pen on this one. Aside from the inherent idiocy of this particular quest, it could have been really good at them - I wouldn't even know how to reward karma for killing Harold out of mercy or screwing him over for the greater good (though the evil "by fire" approach is still pretty clear-cut).

If only they didn't stick to the Bioware school of fake choices which also happens to eliminate any moral dilemmas, it might have been hard deciding what to do.[/spoiler:ec100e19a9]
