I have written an 8 page story for the mod, but I wont release it until the mod is done.

This is the last update pretty much until its done. I need testers to find bugs if anyones interested.
 
oh yah... thats the stuff :) Nice work, are you going to make a complete mod or a partial mod? how many hours of gameplay do you think this mod will pump out?

I would bug test for ya but im busy right now... if i get some free time i will :)

I dont feel like doing crap for the worldmap so its just going to replace ARTEMPLE.MAP and you will go to other cities via transporters of some type. theres going to be two cities and a church similar to the cathedral from FO1. The other town is called Silver City, which is based on a theme park near my house.

To the average fallout player, this will probaably produce 10-15 hours of play.

EDIT:

I was messing around with a 3d modeling program and I ended up making a half-assed 3d map for the first part of town.

The maps look ok, but I hope you don't mind if I throw in some constructive critism?

The door in the underground store is quite out of place. Some of the maps, like the underground hospital are a little bit "bare", are there any more objects you can place? The floor tiles and roof tiles look a little repetative, could you use a larger selection?

Thanks for your input. Most of the things you mentioned are things that I will do towards the end or whenever I get bored. The door is just there to hold my place until I get around to making an in wall stairway for cave walls like the one in the Enclave oil rig. And I probably wont even make that room a store, because Mar-Mart came in and monopolized it all. And the hospital I had just started two hours before I made the screenshots.



When the "excitement" for the mod dies down, I will post some of the story. Its a doosey.

MAP MAKERS:
What you will be building is Dead Mans Dungeon. I will draw out some concept images and you will build it from them.

SCRIPTERS:
This mod will need around 300 new scripts. Obviously I cant make all of them and keep my sanity.

I think its good idea to make all front or inside buildings walls as trans-light (holographics) This will look like new game engine- but just used method like was possible but not used by game designers.
 
Good idea. I will do that, but make it so that a spacial script in the doorway changes all the walls inside the building to TRANS GLASS

It looks nice, and I see you have a cool Las Vegas sign :D

but a cuople of tips regarding the maps;
When you make underground maps, you should not have roof tiles behind the walls, there is a both easier and better looking way to do this.
behind the walls, you place out some black walls, and you odn't need any roof, you just use black floor tiles, you can find them in the "Use pattern" thingie...

You should check out the vault maps to see for your self, I had lots of truble with this when I first started ampping, but then I checked out the vault maps and I had an "AHAAA"-experience :wink:

EDIT: one more thing, I wouldn't use cavern floor tiles on surface maps, since it gives the feeling of beeing in a cave, and when you then see a huge sign that could impossibly fit inside a cave, you start to wonder :wink:

I wasnt aware they were cavern floor tiles. Ill try to find something better looking though.

I decided to not allow the player toaccess the world map and just have a vehical that you activate and decide where to go via a dialog script attached to it. Mostly because people dont usually walk around in the desert. also, its much easier that way(for me at least.)

New screenshots comming soon, and maybe even a playable demo of the first town if I make more scripts and organize everything.

No Screenshots or demo yet because ive had an unexpected growth in the ammount of things I had to do. Still need scripters, but not as desperately. demo is nearing completion too.

I have a problem. I need a new critter FRM. he has to have a red COC robe, but with the hood down. Ive heard of people taking critter animations from Baldurs Gate and FOT, but I havent played BG and havent even beaten the 4th level of FOT. Does anyone know if their is an animation close to this in one of those games?

Now, bad news for the player. I have designed the main character to a very long extent, and unfortunately you cant play the mod with a custom built character.
 
Sorry everyone. Ever since I got a job Ive neglected the mod. Not any more. I have a couple days off and I am going to try to finish the demo.

Also, I have an Idea for telephones. Getting quests over the phone by a mysterious stranger with a deep voice, calling the quest giver and saying "What was I supposed to do again?", calling a number you heard a homeless drunk guy mumble and finding that it is an obscure pop culture reference, and much more!

EDIT: My hosting for Xavierblazer.com is up in 10 days. After that many of the screenshots on the thread will experience a total existence failure. I could fix the forum and use that for the main site temporarily, but if someone were to be so kind as to point me in the direction of a free host that doesnt include 10 spyware programs with every file I upload then I would be happy.
