Project: BnW

Im pretty happy with how it is going myself. The only thing I hate about it is how I took away one of the things that made Fallout so fun, Being able to play with a character you design. Fortunately, I made the preset ones the same "Diplomat, Thief or Combat" with a strong emphasis on diplomacy, as the story is one of the strong points of the mod.

EDIT:
allhailcrimsonking7hr.jpg

I love the hooded figure here. Is there any chance I could use him as a preset character image?

EDIT2:
Im going to try my hardest to get it out by the 14th, because it will be the 2 month aniversary of when I first had the idea for the mod. Its changed a bunch, from a black and white man in a crazy colored world to a mod about Post Religious war

How will the main character be designed, as you said, we're bound to use the character you make.... Possible Female characters, too?

Demo will only have diplomat, but there will be a male, a female, and an undecided (Like on D&D) and thanks to the robe concealing the bodies I can use one critter frm set for all 3

And I am in the process of making a red robed FRM by adjusting the hue of the purple robe.

Sweet!

EDIT: Oh, and just so you know I cannot read a word on your forum (I see that you changed it recently) It is too small and in some hard to read script font type.

I havent been around for a while due to commitments, but I'm back now and I have to say this is shaping up nicely! If you need any hosting, please dont hesitate to PM me. Also if your lucky I could help out with basic mapping. :)

Its a proboard. I would have a PHPBB but Xavierblazer.com is hosted on my dads hosting and it cant have more than one database, which is needed by my dad.

Hate to tell you, but unless you call huge two leveled underground caverns basic mapping then all the basic mapping is done.

Hopefully, I can include the new red robed critter in the demo, but theres over 15MB of animations to convert with hundreds of frames, so Im looking at about 5-10 hours of work.

XB if you want phpbb I can shove an extra forum on my install at my site, I know your registered over there... Or here would probably give you one if you wanted it.

LAST UPDATED WEDNESDAY, JULY 13, 2005 AT 10:03 PM CENTRAL TIME(-6 hours GMT I believe)

If its not released by the weekend then tell me to stop being lazy and get to work.

Hopefully, I can include the new red robed critter in the demo, but theres over 15MB of animations to convert with hundreds of frames, so Im looking at about 5-10 hours of work.

If you have Photoshop, I would look into Batch Process. I did some tests recoloring the robes, and it takes about an hour using color replace on batch process. Doing something more complicated then a change of color (say adding a logo), would need to be done manually. I had a set of Vault Robes, so it had a number on the back, and that will mean you'll need to edit about 2/10th of the frames, so it may take longer, but if you've just recolored it (and a nice job you've done) and you have a fast computer, you can do it in about 30 minutes.

What I do in GIMP is adjust the hue up 50 and the lightness up 10 ansaturation up 5. Ive done about 1/4 of the animations, so I think its best not to change the way Im doing it now

i think its a good idea. are there going to be other cities you can go to. is it going to be like fallout where you have different types of guns? and how do you edit the game like that cause i want to learn

Why, thank you.

Not in the demo, but when it is done there will be 2 other cities you can go to(a mid 1800's American Western inspired town, and a religious city)

is it going to be like fallout where you have different types of guns?
There will not be much need for combat in the demo, but there will be the occasional shotgun or SMG you can use.

and how do you edit the game like that cause i want to learn
Weeks of messing around with the mapper and scripts trying to figure out what it all means. Then I went to NMA and looked at the tutorials and it mostly made sense.

I don't use Gimp, thanks to school.

And yeah, a change like that could take 30-120 minutes, depending on how good your computer is. Compared to the time you are spending now...

EDIT: To all the kiddies who want to be scripters and keep your sanity, only write and test one script at a time. I wrote 17 scripts this morning and tested them all at once and spent the rest of the day trying to fix them and restore my computer to working condition. Ive reinstalled fallout 2 once and the mapper 2 times today just testing scripts. Luckily, they all work now, and the only scripting I have left is dialog related(which Im best at.)
