Red-Tec Resources

Another small weapon sprite pack requested by untouchablelay.

Sorry for the wait buddy, you said you needed a rifle sprite for a weapon that would chamber .50 Beowulf rounds? Given that you did'nt have a specific weapon in mind I had a snoop around and found three assault rifles that I liked the look of. Now you have a good choice of rifle for those bullets. I'm pretty sure I saw some revolvers also in my research into .50 Beowulf, may have to work on those eventually in my main weapon project. Enjoy...

Little offtopic: goddamit, .50 AR-15? Who is this mad genius?)

Sprites are cool, btw, could use them in some distant future :)

@ RobertHouse;
It's no problem at all, only that I barely have time to do any of this. Yet ALL requests will be completed, it just may take a while for most. Another thing, my method of sprite creation is based mainly on objects and weapons for the reason that I do not use 3D models. I rely on images and editing through photoshop.

@ untouchablelay;
Thank you for your kind words. I saw those weapons and just had to have them, but I only researched them following your request. In my main weapons project I have over 60 caliber types that I am creating weapons and ammunition for, and I'm starting on the smallest calibers first. Every so often I jump ahead of my project when the community asks me to do so. I'm just glad that they suit you.

@ TwoEyedYum;
Dude, though extensive weapons research I have found some alarming weaponry. Not to mention concepts, prototypes, and fictional weapons that I may begin work on in the distant future. For now, every weapon sprite that I post is a real life working firearm, and some are so rare there are only a few in existance. Like one of the anti-material sniper rifles I found the other day that only one has ever been produced! But anyway, If you think those are cool, you should see what's on the way.

Thank you for the new sprites. I will test them out and get back to you, but from the thumbnails, I think already that they will be more than sufficient.

I will start work today on putting the new sprites into my mod. I may have another (small) round of requests for you in the future. For now though, these new sprites are almost all of what I need to help complete my mod. Again I thank you for your excellent work.

xkcon, it was my pleasure, and an added bonus to learn a little bit about your mod. I will definately be happy to do any other items for you in future.

But... Do not be so greatful, those sprites I made for you could have been a lot better and I personally think that they may need some changes. If you are happy with them, that is fine but seriously if you notice anything that needs changing just ask. It wont be a problem.

Overall the sprites are excellent, However I would ask if you could re-angle the movie cameras so they are pointing diagonally upward in NE and NW directions.

Ideally I want to have to camera in front of the film crew NPC (in blue) focusing upward on the bed. In this picture I tried experimenting with camera in different positions, but it didn't really seem to fit nice...

The second pack of sprites for the "Weapon Project" is ready.

The pack consists of three ammunition sprites and ten weapon sprites for use with the .22 Hornet caliber. Primarily used for hunting vermin and small predators, the .22 Hornet is suitable for decent range, but not power. More information can be found in the optional descriptions download.

As with all of the sprite packs issued for the "Weapon Project" I have written simple descriptions based on actual facts about each item. Once again these are not vital to the sprites pack, but useful for modders who want a realistic feel to weapons.

The intention of my "Weapons Project" is to create weapons for my own use. I have an extremely massive project of an entirely new game and the first phase of creation is Guns...

Obviously it is also a good idea to share what ever I make in the case that other modders may wish to use them. You might want all of my weapons, you may just want to pick and choose occasionally, You may never want any. I will continue to create these for myself and if anyone else uses them, great, and thank you.

Finally I have a rough fix for one of your cameras xkcon, It is not 100% the same quality as the other two angles but it will have to suffice. It was a difficult task as I only had one image for those cameras, from one angle. Ah well, here you go...

Are you sure that this is the new reworked sprite? It appears to be the same sprite as before?? Not sure - maybe I missed something??

Did you try all of the angles? There are two new different images for directions SW and SE though admittedly they are a bit rough.
If you still experience problems let me know but I have checked the download file and it is definately the reworked version.

Allright I figured it out... I guess animation rotation (for entities) only works in the level editor not the actual entity editor. Anyway, the new camera is awesome and I thank you again. Your sprites are awesome and I am very happy.

Well, you know where to come if you ever need any more.
I am currently working on a few for FLVDT that will be shown when the mod will be released, it is taking some time though as I have had a very busy few weeks. I do promise though, that any and all requests will be completed to the best of my ability, it just might take some time.
My speciality is only in creating sprites and tiles though at the moment and other aspects of modding I am limited with experience. I have found this difficult to come back to and "re-learn" since I stopped modding Fallout Tactics back in 2009. But now I am back, I realise just how much I used to know... and how hard it is to re-configure those memories.
My new project is an adaptation of where I left it back then. But it involves starting completely from scratch. Far too deep to explain here, maybe someday I'll make a new topic about my theory, but too be honest, I think it would be so big, no-one would read it! LOL :)

I'll just stay on the sidelines for now, tinkering away. It is doubtful my mod will ever be released. It's mainly for use as my hobby.

Third weapon sprite pack is finished.

It contains 3 ammunition types for the .22 Short caliber, along with 13 handguns and 4 rifles. I have included the descriptions into one download pack too.
I won't go into detail about .22 Short, my project is working it's way through to more and more powerful weaponry, but along the way, some weapons are quite interesting. I particularly like the 'Rapid Fire Competition Pistols' of this pack.

I have devised a ratings system for all ammunition types and calibers of the 'Weapons Project'. Mainly for my own use when calculating the power of different ammo and guns.
This has slightly altered the order of the weapon packs I will be working on (from less powerful ammunition to absolutely devastating). Over time the packs I will release will contain deadlier weaponry.
It focuses on the 'Hornady H.I.T.S. calculator' and sytematically gives a rating for ammunition calibers depending on bullet weight (grains), diameter (inches), and impact velocity (fps). By finding these details I can calculate a rating that compares ammo to other types, therefore I can find which calibers do more damage, accurately and realistically.
I will eventually be using my findings within my own mod which will give it an interesting realism when it comes to the actual damage of my weapons.
