Repairing Fallout's story from Bethesda

First Bethesda needs to go bankrupt so they be willing to sell the franchise(that won't happen anytime soon I'm afraid), then reboot the whole damn thing if there is any talend and brains left in this industry to make good old school post apocalyptic rpg with a lot of style and sense of art just like the classic Fallout games

I guess in Fallout's case a reboot is justified, or at least everything after Fallout 2 is completely ignored with the single exception of Fallout New Vegas if that is possible.

I would love to see what a more qualified development team would have done with the East Coast, or the Midwest.
My own vision for Detroit is that it is still this industrial city that underwent a second economic miracle due to the war industry and fusion car industry, manufacturing high tech goods like Power Armor and fusion cells when it got hit by Chinese ICBMs.

Fallout classics will stay legendary for ever, I don't think anyone can recreate or at least come close to those levels of game design(well maybe, just maybe only if all the old devs get miraculously together with some dedicated modern games specialists and programmers they can pull that off, but considering the times we're living in it's nearly impossible) I'm not even sure I want them to be remade or rebooted since they're awesome pieces of gaming history that unfortunately got "mistreated" by Bethesda, so yeah Fallout can still be great NV proofed that but longer we see Bethesda's stupid engine and gaming desing on this franchise the reboot becomes inevitable, so many possibilities to create in this awesome universe and no talent or vision is around to actually see it, it's all about marketing and milking franchises to the death now, just business sadly for fans, Tim Cain actually begged so the world can see this game just because he loved and worked at it so much with almost no profit(well at least at the beginning of the development)

Fallout 3&4 are just a different series entirely, but taking the same concepts as the actual Fallout series.
Just put a title like 'Aftermath' or so with a sub heading of 'Fallout 3' for good measure.
They're bad fan fiction that lacks the naughty erotic bits.

Some parts of the premise for Fallout 3 are salvageable if you ask me. I can buy the BoS sending people to the Capital Wasteland to look for old world tech. I can buy them going rogue & trying to make something out of DC but it needs to be way more nuanced than that. The inclusion of the Enclave & Super Mutants are irreparable however, they have to be excluded, period. The water chip thing is also salvageable, it's not too bad of a premise to be honest. They just need factions vying for it with ulterior motives, not just "we will save the Wasteland because we are oh-so-textbook-good-guys". That doesn't fly.

Working with what we have in F3 without entirely scrapping everything (just to throwing some ideas out there): The BoS is trying to establish a confederation of sorts out of multiple settlements/city-states in the Capital Wastes (we're going to need more settlements for this), they have driven off the raider tribes that plagued the towns but now, some time after, we have a "replacing one tyrant for another"-type of deal going on, with the BoS essentially exploiting the settlements Mafiosi-style ("if you pay we will protect you, from ourselves"). So naturally, they will want to get their hands on the water-chip to further assert their power over the region. Throw in a form of resistance movement in the largest town (let's say it's Rivet City), which still has leadership with ulterior motives as well, & perhaps a third that is some form of representation of capitalist moguls. It's just a premise but I think something akin to this would work. The narrative in & of itself needs a total revamp of course, but that's another story.

Than it would have to be the Midwest BOS because the West Coast BOS is not interested in bringing together settlement to build nations.
The only nation they want to build is the one that will consists of themselves after everyone else has died off naturally. Well that was the plan at first, it never worked out that way.

The Midwest BOS was also more about running a protection racket though they did protect settlements from raiders, mutants, and dangerous robots.

Why are they shot? Why not just bring all three of them? Is The Institute really that crowded at that point in time that they can't support 3 people? And why are the rest of the people dead? The vault hasn't been breached and everyone else would've been frozen too. So if everyone else got unfrozen but you then why didn't they unfreeze you? Cause I distintcly remember there being vault-suit clad skeletons littered around the vault, so they didn't all die in their cryo chambers. None of this is making any damn sense.
This one is one of these 'get this!' moments. Kellog's cornflakes asked for some reason to install emotion suppressor implant after all what he lived through so he won't feel anything, mainly to suppress this what's commonly called 'love'. Or he's just stopped feeling anything for another human being because he's 100+ yrs old ass and that's because he's so unrationally evil. I don't know, just sticked to the head.

Hire better writers that aren't complete fucking infidels.

Better writers alone won't solve much at all (it'd still be a shitty Bethesda game albeit with a bit more flavor). You'd also need more creative designers and a better core idea for the game (and all of that greenlit by the suits and Todd).

It doesn't matter since the writers will do what producers and PRs will say.

Both good points.

Bethesda should replace every single fucking infidel within their team. Whether they be lead writer, or that girl that makes coffee but never puts enough coffee beans in it so it becomes watery and bland and doesn't give you that boost you need so you end up doing a shit job just because she can't make a simple cup of coffee.

I am going to go with the bog standard answer of starting over. If you try to fix it, then you are going to have to make so many patches to the story that you might as well start over again.

Exactly. I mean the premise would still have to be that the East Coast BoS split from the original because they changed/tweaked their philosophy. The whole carving out some form of state is an expanding of sorts on the Midwest chapter's protection racket, which was a lot more nuanced than the white knights in shining armor of F3.

But honestly, it doesn't even really need to be the BoS that functions as this, could be a whole new organization. There are obviously power armors & other high-tech scattered about the East Coast as well so some other technophile faction could easily be put together.

Well this topic got in discussion a lot of times.

I see the midwest BOS rather different than the east coast BOS.

Not intending to save the world, but sees power in recruiting defeated factions, to defeat its more powerful enemies.

East Coast BOS are superheros. The impression left is terrible, was terrible in FO3, and got worse with the inclusion of "Elder Maxson" text lines.

I aggree they could have put another faction with power armors to do that work, but... BOS has already a rename, and sells. It is a pity having BOS downgraded that way.

That is far difficult to "ignore" or remand in future versions... it is a canon error that will prevail.

BTW all the Vault 0 lore and briefing (from BOS side) is tons of times better than any ending from FO4 or the shitty ending of FO3.
