I was hoping it would be starting Barry and Rebecca. Oh well I'm getting it anyway.
If they have an AI partner in this they better be smarter then Sheva. Not that it would be hard to be smarter then her.

Barry and Rebecca couldn't front-line a game like that. Rebecca isn't a very good lead, and Barry is better as a secondary character. Maybe if they were the partners of Jill and Chris.

Barry is too connected to Jill. Putting him as anyone else's partner would be foolish; master of unlocking, jill sandwiches, the end of RE3 etc. Next time Jill is a main character, he could be the support AI

Chris and Jill have more history too though. Barry could partner with anybody. Maybe he could just show up like he did in RE3. At least he got a good revamp in the Resident Evil Remake. Rebecca should stay gone though. She has no reason to continue fighting zombies with her big brain. She should develop a cure or something.

Tell that to S.D. Perry, who has a... creepy fixation on our little Becky.

They really did try to make her a likable character.

But no... no she's not. Be gone with her!

I read all of those novels. That one was horrible.

Edit: I posted a pic in this thread by mistake. I removed it.

My local college had them all in it's library, only books I ever got out from there.
Yea, not a good book really.

I think the first two were decent, but that was about it. I see no point in reading the novels if they aren't canon anyway. It takes the fun out of it somehow.

I like Rebecca. I always enjoyed playing the girls in RE. Something about a hot babe with a gigantic shotgun decapitating zombies... Anyway I made a long post when this thread started but accidently hit the back button and lost it all. Basicly, I wish the series would return to fixed cameras/lame puzzle solving/scarce ammo/actual horror. The only reason REzero and REmake were the last of the old style games, IMO, was because of the exclusive rights to the games on the unpopular Gamecube system.
IMO, there is room for the old style to evolve and appease fans of the originals while grabbing a new audience. Perhaps as easy as a little variation in item/enemy/room placement ect between playthroughs. Or perhaps dynamic difficulty? If I'm walking around with tons of ammo/health, the game could throw a few clusters of enemies at me to keep the tension up/supplies low. I dono... I miss the old style of gameplay. I played the hell out of the originals last year, even the very first one for PS1.
Should I conform? Or hold out for hope? Don't get me wrong, RE 4 and 5 are excellent action games, but in terms of horror and survival, they don'y scratch my itch.

I don't think they need to go back to the fixed camera. It was mainly suited for easy scares because of crazy camera angles. Those camera angles are a bit lame at times too. If my character is looking in the direction of the zombie, he should be able to react to it, regardless of the camera view. I never had a problem with the controls in the old ones, but many people did. I think the Resident Evil Remake was the best game in the series . The New Game Plus mode was great since you had to burn the zombies after they died, otherwise they would come back twice as strong. It added a whole new strategy to the game. Makes me want to buy a Gamecube again just to play it - Well that and Eternal Darkness.

The crimson heads that needed to be burned were in the first playthrough actually. The best mode was real survival, where items in one storage box did not transfer to another room's storage box.

I think fixed camera angles and then switching to Leon 3rd person when aiming would be a good compromise. I think Revelations is doing this. Too bad it's for a handheld.

Nope, Revelations is switching from 3rd person RE4-esque camera to First Person mode when aiming. I was never a fan of the fixed cameran angles, personally, for the same reasons TorontRayne said.

But... then there is no way to enjoy Jill's jiggle physics! (included in REmake)

The big problem with those Pre-Rendered and Fixed camera angles is that you could not see what should be plainly in the character's view. A Hunter could be just outside the camera angle while still being 2 feet from your character; result= you get fucked up.

RE3 had that 'tap A' way out that made combat much more forgiving but that did not persist beyond RE3 and Dead Aim.

Huh? You walk into a room and hit the aim button and your character automatically aims at the nearest enemy, onscreen or off. Only real survival in REmake disabled auto aim. What was the tap a thing? An escape button?
Anyway the fixed cameras are not my biggest concern. Silent Hill doesn't use them and the series still works as survival horror. My problem is that RE, while still fun as hell, is lacking in some elements that made the originals great.

The Auto Aim piece did not come in until RE3. I remember doing this in RE2 for the Nintendo 64. Best thing you could do is listen for the Zombie shuffling

I am seriously about to break out Resident Evil: Code Veronica. I never cared for the stretchy Jabberwocky guy though. Come to think of it the Leech guy from RE0 wasn't much better either.

I am thinking RE6 will have a better balance of Horror/Action than RE5 did. I am starting to think the blonde girl is Ashley Graham though. The Sherry Birkin guess was more of a hope. I am curious what happened to her. What the hell ever happened to Carlos? A merc like him would be valuable in the BSAA.

Edit: Looks like a cover system will be implemented. I love seeing the old style zombies again.

Those pictures look excellent. But I hope they include multiplayer

They will. They mentioned something about 6 on 6 multiplayer I believe. I loved playing with a friend in RE 5. I can't imagine them dropping that.

Sure the 6 on 6 is not Operation Racoon City?
