Pray to the Vault Keeper it's not true.
If Bethesda has their way you'll definitely get peasant Jet Junkies with Hardened Power Armor.

I happened to like G3 (read my review to see why).Per said:Good read. It's almost a shame he didn't slag Gothic 3 as well for consistency. "Abismal"?
Why make millions when you can make bajilions? That simple principle explains why Bethesda made Oblivion instead of a Daggerfall-like game. Statistically, morons are a huge market, dwarfing anything else in comparison.Endless Void said:Just made me wonder... What the fuck are those companies trying to do? Elimination of CRPG genre or elimination of CRPG fanbase?

VDweller said:Why make Fallout 3 for the Fallout fans and sell 5-700,000 copies when you can make an "in teh futare" shooter with adjustable stats for the FPS crowd, call it an RPG, and sell 2,000,000+ copies? It's a simple math, really.
Name recognition. They might lose the fan base but they'll generate far more interest from in the industry and press than something without any history. More interest, more sales even without the fan base.Endless Void said:Hell, why use an existing franchise if it's clear that it's fanbase won't buy it? It's clearly stated on FO fansites that the aspects they're thinking of using is unwanted. Won't it detract the notorious "loyal fanbase estimated to be over 350.000 people" from that 2.000.000+ sales?

What sells games? Hype and brand recognition. Would KOTOR have sold as much if it wasn't a Stars Wars game?Endless Void said:Why skullfucking the names and licenses then?
They have a lot of experience in this area. First, they fucked the Daggerfall fans with Morrowind. They dumbed the game down, attracted way more people, so it worked and then they fucked the Morrowind fans with Oblivion by following the same formula and completely fucking up the lore in the process. It worked again, because for every fan they lost they gained 10 new ones.Hell, why use an existing franchise if it's clear that it's fanbase won't buy it?
They are not targeting the Fallout fans at all. If they were, they would be here now, talking to you, would they not? They already have a playable build, yet they didn't show anything to you. Ask yourself why. It's clearly stated on FO fansites that the aspects they're thinking of using is unwanted.
