The thing is, even NATO analysts are baffled on why the Russian military is performing so poorly.

During the Cold War, exercises and war games were occasionally done between NATO and Warsaw Pact from time to time (not often, but it happened), and NATO analysts made a living doing nothing but studying Soviet doctrine. We know that this NOT how Russia is supposed to operate, and from all signs historically if there had been a war with them they would not have been this incompetent.

Why they're fucking up so badly now even actual military intelligence sources can only guess at and shrug their shoulders.

We know that the Soviets were much more competent than this when it comes to military tactics, and yes while their military suffered several setbacks after the fall of the USSR that still doesn't explain why they're fumbling around like idiots in the dark in Ukraine:

As for Putin... well, he's under the Sword of Damocles right now. Even for a dictator of his stature only so many fucks up will be tolerated in a country such as Russia.

The NATO analysts are not taking into account that the Russian troops do not like killing their own people. Some do I am sure but generally if I had to travel to Texas to kill people I would think twice before pulling the trigger and likely not move my ass as quickly. Then again I kinda do hate Texas maybe we could invade.
 
Texas isn't all that bad, I used to dislike Texans too. However, the whole redneck/cowboy culture is slowly dying out in most areas (especially the major cities), and Texas is becoming distinctively less Southern (which is always a good thing in my book). They're definitely more tolerable nowadays.
 
The cowboy/southern culture is the only thing it has going for it.
 
Almost all of the victories we hear from the SU are essentially counter attacks against the Germans with home field advantage. It's a lot easier to fight when your defending your home, see how Israel managed to fend off four nations at once.

AFAIK, the only war the SU fought post WW2 was Afghanistan and they didn't do too well there.

Ukraine is not only Slavic but a lot of the russians doing the fighting are conscripts or otherwise folks who really do not want to be there or shoot folks who are like themselves. With the rise of the internet, information simply cannot conceal all and more and more Russians are realizing this war is a vanity project to keep Putin in power. Ordinary Russians are suffering because Putin won't leave. I mean holy fuck, 20 years as president. That's two for us if they are good and four if they suck I wonder how many people Putin pissed off to accomplish that and what happens to him if he loses power.
 
I live in Oklahoma and like westerns and there is nothing wrong with the culture. People like Larry the Cable Guy (he isn't even a redneck) make redneck types look more retarded than they actually are. Because most of them would save your life if it came down to it because they are actually useful at things.

The problem about those studies from over 30 years ago about the military capabilities of Soviet Union and its allies is that they are from over 30 years ago, about an entity that no longer exists.

Please enlighten me on how being less southern is inherently a good thing and allowing your culture to be spat on and destroyed by the federal and urban monolith is inherently not a bad thing?

Texas sucks apart from Austin, because there are so many Cali expats there. Too bad the prices are rising and things are becoming worse, I wonder why that's happening...

Lord help us if a bunch of Cali expats come here. We get a lot of New York, Jersey, and Georgia expats here and we get along fine even if they can be rude sometimes but i respect that theyre upfront and you can read em like an open book. I always joked Californians got more in common with Canadians than the rest of us because passive aggressiveness is firmly ingrained in their culture to the point i cant even

It's kind of a dictators handbook thing, if you have the means, and you have to put rebellions down, send troops from a different region, precisely to minimize the feeling of "attacking your own" among the troops.
 
When they hit Oklahoma they will turn right around. Good news is FIBER hit my neck of the woods. Maybe a year or two at most....just a matter of time.

Most of the Southern culture I've had the displeasure of interacting with is in regards to Neo-Confederate crap and people parroting the "Lost Cause" or "states rights" myths. A people being from a certain area isn't inherently wrong in and of itself, but it can propagate bullshit like those who defend the CSA and it's ideals.

Sure you can separate a Southerner from said culture, and not all of them think like that. But a significant amount still do.

from my knowledge a lot of the folk who are parroting the Neo Confederate crap and are openly defending the CSA while moonlighting as neo nazis are morons out in the west. Like jesus going out west was a shock to me. Saw dumbasses in Oregon who openly had swastika flags on their house. Came with a lot of sinister stares and snides remarks about where im from. If they did that here theyd be rediculed and probably even chased out of town, like that one klan guy who was here. He got assaulted with a 2x4 from concerned residents. If we spoke of racism in any region of the states where it was intense at. Id really say out west. I mean yeah we get stereotyped a bit about it. But neo nazis are not openly parading in the streets acting as oppurtunistic jackals to beat you up and kill you in broad daylight. Neither is the klan, theyre rediculed heavily here and no one wants to be associated with em or be around those who are. Yeah theyre are some here who believe the states roghts ordeal. But a lot of em are weirdly quite about it and only really talk about it if you ask em and let em ramble. Idk if they even know that only wealthy land owners owned slaves
 
The states rights thing isn't a myth it is called a nuanced issue that is not just based on black people stuff. Hey did you guys know that we went to war with Iraq over WMD's? It's true.
