Shacknews Impressions and Vault Dweller's Guide Scans

Ohhh I like the illustrations a lot. Now if only...

I wonder if they (Bethesda) 'll ever release this VD guide as a pdf download or something...

Actually, I just finished the whole thing, (I was only half-way through my last post) and it's epic. The "Helpful Hints From Vault Boy" bit is awesome, the textbook-ish style of writing, the illustrations are my favourite part overall.

Dammit, I need one of these things. Someone better put one up on eBay. :/

So, how does this (among other things) make its way into a a pre-war booklet? My immersion is broken'd.

Simulation. They've said they used SimTek 5000 or something to create vary accurate simulation of post-war aboveground environment

Scaringly accurate simulations, here
Nonetheless, I still like it. Actaully, it's the first time I enjoy something Fallout 3 related (and that even made me register)

"Mirelurk king"?

Still, good fun otherwise. Nice guide.

EDIT: I edited the newspost a bit to our standard format (4 pics in a row), hope that helps, though it looks kinda ugly.

so Yao Guais will be not only in random encounters...
and mirelurk king... that's just something from fantasy games, I assume

Collins dictionary:
king 3) a) a person, animal, or thing considered as the best or most important of its kind.

also, there are many species of fishes with names like:
king of the herrings
king of the mackerels
king of the mullets
king of the salmons
reef king
sea king, etc.

A Mutated Creatures list in a 2077 Survival Guide? With Centaurs and Super Mutants? OUCH! (Maybe Nostradamus wrote it?)

The booklet is very good nonetheless, and has the right "'50s" feeling in it.

I said this before and I'll say it again, I bet tenbux that this Survival Guide will be larger and infinitely more interesting than the actual manual at release.

Great guide, wish I could ever get my hands on the physical booklet.

Did anyone else get the impression that they were hinting you can become a supermutant?

Nope.

You will not be able to become a ghoul or mutant in FO3, straight from the mouth's of the folks at Bethesda.

so nothing for aur roleplayers whod like to beat the game as a <strike>malkavian</strike> ghoul or supermutant

Sure the artwork looks nice and all that... but the concept makes no sense.

If the manual was made before the war for people who were going to live in the vault (at one point, it says something like "many weapons will survive the nuclear event") then how the hell would the author have known about all of these monsters? Or, if it was written by someone in the vault, we know that people were not supposed to be able to leave the vaults, so again how the hell would they know about all of the stuff on the outside?

Once again Beth fails at logic and common sense. If it was just a little manual, who would care? But the writing for the whole game appears to be infected with this kind of lazy stupid-think. The truth is, these guys just don't have much of an imagination.

Well, I could live without it I guess.
