Shamus Young "The Blistering Stupidity of Fallout 3"

It's trivial but it's still a pretty glaring plot hole. Like, they have been inside the Vault all their lives wearing only Jumpsuits yet this kids got their hands on Leather jackets somehow without explanation.

Glaring plot hole? The Tunnel Snakes are in the game for like 5 minutes and are rather inconsequential

THey worked for the Overseer doing what exactly? THey were a bunch of teenagers and the overseer already has the Vault Security people under his command....

People expect things to be explained because the original Fallout games went out of the way to explain how the world worked. Fallout 3 expects people to suspend all rational thought while playing the game lest the entire facade fall away revealing the incredibly shallow surface underneath.

Quests were shallow, dialouge was shallow and companions were shallow = all legit complaints

Tunnel snake jackets = who gives a shit

From the wiki: "During Escape!, if the Wanderer accesses the Overseer's computer, it is revealed that the Overseer has secretly used the Tunnel Snakes to harass residents in situations where having his security force do so would be undesirable"

Is more a progression of "Dialogue is shallow, character's are shallow nothing makes sense, why is this stupid thing like this anyway? "When a game fails to flesh it's story out and give anything of substance to a viewer/Reader/Player they are more likely to pick up on the smaller inconsistencies. I mean I don't even care about it, but even somethign like that tears down the game's already paper thin setting, it's kind of funny.

That's pretty retarded, why he would need that? he is the absolute ruler of the Vault, he has no appereances to keep.... Also weren't the Tunnel Snakes bullying his daugther?

It makes perfect sense why a control freak would get spies/lackies to do his jobs on the DL. This is one of those things if you want to understand it, you will. If you want to bash FO3, you'll say it doesn't make sense.

Why would he need teenagers to spy on people when the Vaults are stated to be full of cameras and intercoms and everybody carries a radio transmitter on their arm? Hell he even kills a dude at one point....

I don't think there were any cameras in that vault, and like I said if you don't want to understand it then you won't no matter what.

The Exihbition Vault in FO3 even states that the overseer can see everything through a security camera system through the entire Vault and no one will be alone ever again. Hell the Overseer offices always have a terminal full of monitors....

Again, doesn't matter. There would still be a need to "rough people up" off the books when the security team may not do it. There isn't much point in explaining it further.

Why for? he has complete control of the Vault and even kills people like dad James Assistant. Off the books of what exactly?

"If Butch and his leather-clad delinquents accost Amata one more time, they'll have more to deal with than their acerbic teacher.

Their "services" have come in handy upon occasion, I must admit, but they're starting to become... unruly. If dogs become feral, they must be put down. I'll have to remind Butch of that upon our next meeting."

You can ask questions like this about a hundred things in FO3 and NV, why bother? Also, feel free to research it.

almost any work of fiction is going to have some minor inconsistencies, im sure if I wanted to dedicate the time I could find a few in the black isle / obsidian fallouts as well

The major problems with FO3 are there, there isnt really need to nitpick the trivial

I mean in NV House magically builds a laser (Raul says rockets, not lasers) system that magically shoots down nukes without any evidence of it existing besides the dialogue telling you it does. I'm guessing if you're biased towards disliking FO3 that question won't ever come up though.

My point is that when a work neglects the bigger picture and fails t have a consistent world it's then rather easy to poke further holes with the small stuff too as the bigger stuff dwasn't compeling enough to make you not care about them.

Magically? He was the president of RobCo (one of the top leading robot manufacturing and technological devvelopment companies) and one of the richest people alive.... The Lucky 38 tower controlled them and the Securitrons were under one of the vaults that stored this kind of systems. House spent the last years of the pre war world preparing for the apocalypse he predicted.
Grasping at straws aren't you?
