Should Fallout 3 be considered canon?

It is open to personal view.

I very much doubt anything major from Fallout 3 will impact the core region. Even the wilderness survival guide, if one plays 1, 2, and NV in order and nothing else, doesn't invoke 3 by its very existence, for many would make such guides in many areas.

I consider 3 and 4 non canonical on that point - no matter how I feel about them, they don't affect the core region. And unless 5 takes place in Denver with the ECBoS (for some reason other than the MwBoS) fighting Caesar's Legion and the NCR and the Khanate, I can safely do so.

What about Tactics?

I maintain the view the two companies are two separate continuities:

1. Fallout>Fallout 2>Tactics

2. Fallout>Fallout2>Fallout 3>Fallout: New Vegas>Fallout 4

The second includes the first two games but isn't limited to them.

I maintain that 1 2 and NV are all the same continuity and 3 and 4 don't fit into any continuity as they cant even be consistent with themselves.

Basically, I think the nature of the game as a shooter and scavenger system precludes it from being part of the original as the bones of it all come from F3.

But your continuity is your continuity.

Bethesda considers Tactics to be semi canon to their games for whatever retarded reason. There is just too much contradictory shit in Tactics, FO3 and FO4 to consider them canon to the original games and New Vegas.

It's sad, out of seven games, only three of them are actually good.

I dunno, they made the East Coast Brotherhood of Steel into the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel. There's no sign the MBoS exist is there? I do admit, though, I like the idea Caesar's Legion destroyed them.

Power armor, lasers, none of it mattered to a true son of Mars. :)

There's a dude in the citadel that talks about the Midwestern guys.

Plus they get mentioned in Fallout 4. There were a couple references in 4 and New Vegas actually. Tactics happened. It is no worse than Fallout 3 at this point.

"Subject E: Diagnosis complete. Begin Recording."
"My name is Whitley. I'm a researcher at Adams Air Force base. Until recently I was in charge of the Duraframe reinforcement project for the combat model Eyebots."
"Eyebot Duraframe Subject E is both the prototype, and the last functional model in this test group."
"I was prepared to make several significant upgrades to the machines."
"However, as the project was canceled and all Duraframe assets are being diverted to Hellfire Armor, I am sending this model to the Navarro outpost."
"If you are listening to this log from one of our Enclave Outposts in Chicago, give this unit whatever repairs it needs so it can continue to Navarro."

Plus someone in Westside mentioned them, but I can't find the quote atm. I know that refers to Enclave there, but it is notable that they mentioned Chicago.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Chicago

Maybe that Enclave reference means they scavenged Enclave armor to make that insectlike Midwestern Power Armor. Probably reading too much into it.

Caesar doesn´t specify what chapter it was. It could have been any unknow chapter that used to reside further east before the legion took over.

Maybe there was an Arizona chapter?

talking about the Pitt, I'd be fucked if a Nuclear War happened. I'd be one of the goofy wacky skelebros in a funnee position in the pitt.

(I live in Pittsburgh if you didn't guess)
