Signature Weapon

I like the Plasma Caster for EW--it's a nice homage to the plasma rifles from FO2. I like EW in general, and always have them for a secondary skill in NV and FO3. Still, there's nothing like a shiny new sniper rifle (especially in NV when you can *silence* them), sitting in your hot little hands. I love being a sneaky assassin :D

I have soooo many fo 3 / nv characters and they all have atleast a couple signature weapons and also almost always a very unique outfit.
So I'll just list a couple of the ones I find myself using the most out of each category.

Gun:
- My very favorite signature weapon is the [Hunting Shotgun] from new Vegas with all modifications on it,
(IMO, it's better than the unique version "Dinner Bell")
Thanks to all the different kinds of Ammo types (like slugs & coin shots) the weapon always is effective on both long and short range targets.
Also it has a pretty cool sound to go with it's regular badass shotgun appearance :)
(It easily blows the head off of a pack with Irradiated Deathclaws from the divide)

Silenced 12.7 mm pistol for sneaky tactical assassinations, very high critical damage, can basically blow telhe brains out of an ncr troopers head straight into the face of his other ncr buddy next to him without being noticed at all.. The AI is stupid yes but, it's still sneaky and funny.

I quite fancy most revolvers in NV as well, mostly because of all the cowboy themes that the game packed with.

Energy wep:
[Multi-plas rifle], always gets the job done.

[Gauss rifle]s for sniping.

Also loves the Unique Laser Pistol in FO3
[Securetrons Gaze] that fires scattering Laser beams, equal effectiveness in close Quarters to a shotgun.

Explosives:
[Grenade Launcher] the 1 with the Pump Action.
+ some extra high explosive ammo to go with it.
Very nice!
Carrying some extra C4 & Mines is always good and classy if u ask me.
Can always be used to create piles, huge piles, then luring followers or enemies into it, can keep me busy preparing and exited for upcoming result for atleast an hour or two, depending in the size of it.
Can also be very good tactic at lower levels if you run into some big shit that's too strong for you to go toe to toe with.

Melee:
Mostly uses some blade or some throwing axes or knives.
For stealth situations. And some times just for fun.

Unarmed:
[Love & Hate], some unique spiked brass knuckles in NV looted off some Viper Gang Leader.

Gotta admit thou,
some of the unique / customized Power / Ballistic fists are really fun sometimes.
U know when u can make enemies explode with one simple (or a few) Falcon Pawnch(es).
(flying bodies & limbs in games, especially RPGs makes me lol)

If I missed some category it's because I haven't played the game in a while but I just might do it quite soon now since I started to remember a lot of great times I had with these games :)

Most of the ranged weapons I've listed has proven to be highly effective & reliable in almost any given situation involving combat or violence.

Railway Rifle for my Indep guy with all his points pumped in to repair ( mod)

Bumpersword for my Legion Behemoth with a incredibly pea brain ( I wish Stupid talk was imported to NV from FO1 and 2...)

And Vermite/Hunting Rifle for NCR bloak

In my personal experiences with New Vegas it is hard to say that I have one particular favorite among the vast number of weapons that are available.

That being said I think the one closest to my all time favorite would have to be.the grenade machine gun. 3 ranks of Demo Expert and the Splash Damage perks make raining red-hot death on the evils of the wasteland an extremely fun pastime.

For melee, I would have to name the fully modded club from Honest Hearts as my weapon of choice. Fully modded with Super Slam, Piercing Strike, and the various weapon speed perks make this weapon a thunderstorm of headthumping. The club will swing faster than you can hit the button...the Wasteland Weedwhacker...

My main weapon was usually the cowboy repeater or the trail carbine if I was a guns character, and the multiplas rifle or plasma caster as energy weapons character.

9mm SMG and war club although I didn't use these for primary weapon. every time, my primary weapon always changed but for sub weapon these two weapon was my favorite sub weapon

Kinda depends on the character, really. My copy is heavily modded, so the weapons act much differently (mostly in that they're much more powerful against flesh, while armor is much tougher but you take extra damage if it penetrates). I also got a mod that makes shotguns more realistic in terms of range and damage, pulling them out of the video game realm where the shot evaporates after 20 feet.

On one of my main playthroughs, the current primary of my character is an Ithaca 37 with synthetic furniture in 20 gauge; 20 gauge ammo is plenty common, and the mods to improve its power and range means that it's a perfectly usable survival weapon. Standard 00 buckshot will kill most anything you point it at, and slugs are good enough to kill some of the largest radscorpions in a few hits. I've been vigorously reloading the hulls, especially when I get my hands on fresh lead and primer or relatively useless rounds (like .50 MG or .45-70).

My sidearm on that playthrough is a Tokarev TT-33 in 9mm, customized with a nickle finish, compensator, and 13-round magazines. The mods improve its power and durability over the standard 9mm Pistol, and 9mm ammo is practically overflowing. I like to use it for enemies like geckos and radroaches that aren't deserving of a big shotgun shell, and I can use it for long range plinking without spending my valuable shotgun slugs. Both the Tokarev and the Ithaca were modeled by Millenia, so they have excellent textures.

As a tertiary, I prefer to carry a rifle in .308. Initially my guy was using an improvised rifle that came with the Courier's Blunderbuss mod, with a five-round magazine and bolt action. I used it for "radscorpion plinking", since it was powerful enough to blow away most of the average sized scorpions from long range with one or two shots. After getting caught up in a raider battle, I've replaced it with an FN FAL.

Currently using the GRA Battle Rifle. I am always poor so I have to reload ammo constantly for it. I use the cowboy repeater if I run out of ammo.

Character? Like..singular? LOL, I'm not playing Fallout 3 here, I have multiple characters with completely different loadouts. However they all do have signature weapons.

Boomer(Explosives expert)- Red Glare
Caligula(Brutal legionary)- Chance's knife
Rampage(Unarmed tank)- Ballistic fist.
Flint(Frumentarii)- All American

I tend to rely on the plasma caster mostly. Good damage and its a nice tribute to the Fallout 2 counterparts as others already mentioned.

Gauss rifle, plasma rifle, that gun and Q-33 matter modulator.
Deathclaw mother didn't stood up to that.

No love for the .45-70 Govt. guns?

The Medicine Stick (and previously, the Brush Gun, and before that, the Trail Carbine) combined with the Cowboy Perk tides me over until I can get the strength to use the Anti-Materiel Rifle (start the game with 3, get the Strength Implant, Weapons Handling, and finally the +2 Strength perk from OWB). In my mind, my Courier also wields a Ranger Sequoia, a Schofield revolver (in game represented as the Lucky .357 revolver), Winchester 1901 10 gauge (represented in game as the Lever Action Shotgun), and a Bowie Knife.

What other than a comforfotable T-51b and none other than the infamous Oh, Baby?

There are only two ranges, really: long-range, and beating range.

.44 magnum, 9mm pistol, hunting rifle, service rifle and anti-materiel rifle are my usuals. I use a lot of different guns too. I like to keep it fresh.

I don't really have one specific. My weapon load usually consists of...

A shotgun
Long range scoped rifle, preferably silenced
A side arm
Explosives
A combat knife in my boot

That can change though. Like one character used exclusively MG's and SMG's.

I carry a long ranged rifle around as my primary weapon. One of my favorite rifles is This Machine, especially the fully modded version that you can get with WMX.
I also usually have a pistol with me. My favorite pistol is a pistol called Bertha (it's from a mod), it's a 10mm modified to fire 12.7 mm rounds at a high rate. Great weapon for close encounters.
As a melee weapon, I usually fall back on Old Glory, fully modded by virtue of WMX. When in a pinch, the Grand Slam will usually save you.
