Silver Style and Fallout 3

I don't understand why there are so many people not liking Arcanum. I loved it. It's closer to Fallout than any other RPGs out there. Troika did a great job on it and that's why i'd like them to continue with FO3. SilverStyle seem nice and all. The Fall looks pretty good but it seems too combat oriented. Of course, they shouldn't be affraid to make a game like FO2. If they do good, they can be sure that they will get the proper recognition from "true" gamers. But i don't know if trying to satisfy both markets with the same game is a good idea... I'm sure the game would turn big enough profits if oriented towards gamers like FO2's. There are so many people that haven't played a good RPG in a long time (KOTOR was OK)... so i am sure there will be enough people to buy it.
If IPLY goes bankrupt (as it should), will FO2 become abandonware? I'd sure like giving patched (v1.05u1) FO2 CDs to everyone.

I loved Arcanum. true, it was no Fallout, and the combat was a bit clumsy, but it had an original story-line and an immersive world. It was an all around good game.

The only thing about Arcanum that jumps at me and say "I suck" is the god-awful combat system.

Other than that I rather enjoyed it.

The thing that pissed me off the most in arcanum was the way they did the critters. They were, as in diablo 2, the model of the same monster, a different size and colour. Yuck. It took some of its atmosphere away. Anyways, who the hell hides plans for hallucinogenous gas bombs in zombie-infested city sewers?

The game itself wasn't a major dissapointment, but it certainly wasn't a milestone in the genre.

Other than that, I'm all for the ressurection of Fallout 3... The thing that, ultimately, matters is the final product, the game, not the company logo on the box.

Besides, imagine the corporate honcho @ IPLY 's face when he/they find out the project they shitcanned made very good sales.

I actually liked the combat cause you could order your followers to attack or pull back (and a few other things). I must say, i liked it having a RT mode so you don't waste a lot of time in areas with easy to kill critters, but it did have some bugs like no "cooldown" between spells and the same for ranged thrown weapons where if you had a boomerang, you could throw it 10 times before it came back :). And the arrow firing rate was huge! I can't understand how they left it like this, it was like you were shooting a beam of arrows. But I think it is should be milestone. It's better than most RPGs out there, and the closest to Fallout (Torment is good too :)). So i can't be more sure about my pick: TROIKA. Maybe SilverStyle can do a good job however, Soldiers of Anarchy wasn't bad... Regarding Obsidian, ToEE seemed boring for me too. Well, it's all about waiting now :),

That actually makes me happy cause it means Obsidian didn't make a boring game :). But i don't know how i could have gotten them mixed up... and i "lived" with that wrong impression. Too bad that
Obsidian Entertainment is currently working on an unannounced role-playing game for PC and console systems. Please check back soon for more information!

Obsidian is working on KOTOR2, so if you liked KOTOR, be happy. If you didn't, your shit out of luck I guess.

If KoTOR2 is as well made as the first one, and sells as well, that could mean some good things will be coming out of Obsidian. If not, I wonder if that'll lead to a quick crash and burn for them.

I clicked through one of the NMA news links to look at the new 'The Fall' screenshots, and came upon shots of a German action RPG called 'Restricted Area.'

http://www.master-creating.de/restricted/deutsch/

I was thinking how the picture reminded me of a Fallout w/ updated graphics. Unfortunately, the actual game probably plays somewhat like Diablo (though that's just my impression- I can't read German :) )

Oh well- I guess we'll see the ACTUAL screenshots of what F3 would have looked like soon, so I guess it doesn't matter.

Well, they did say they were interested in hiring some former Black Isle staff, so I don't think the issue with a foreign company screwing up the grammar will be too bad. Besides, I think if they continue development in the true spirit of the original Fallout games, maybe add some fresh and unique perspective (read: new and better ideas), I think this could be a very good thing.

What I would think of it??? I would...I would...cry...and...spam them with "thank you" e-mails...and...buy myself 10 copies! If they can get F3 back to life, and if can continue being the great game it has always been (I am talking about the TRUE Fallouts: 1 and 2), I would buy it without questioning, just go running naked to the closest store =P

Let me tell you a little story about Silver Style (if I got nothing wrong, it's a long while ago). After they released Soldiers of Anarchy, the fan request for turn-based was strong. So what did Silver Style do? They made a turn-besed option for the game, and released it in a patch! If that is not dedication to your fans then I don't know what is! :D
I don't wish to sound negative but this maybe, because Sliver Style are small time (this is the first time I've heard of them). They can't afford to lose fans, so they listen more. With a giant company like Interplay it all goes bureaucratic and they don't lose touch with giant fan base they have.

Yip, but that's not negative. SSE is pretty smalltime, though I've not gotten any clear impressions on how SOE did, bit the Fall, for one, doesn't sound like a smalltime game.

If they're a company halfway between being smalltime and major, so much the better.

Also, you might not have heard of them because they're German. Simpyl as that.

After all, no one should be affraid that they start doing it. The worse thing that can happen is making a bad game, right? Well, if it's bad, none of us will buy it and that's it... nothing lost. But, there's the small chance that it will be good, so i'm for it!

Hi all

I am sure that a game with so many fans around the world (me included) deserves to be well developed. I dont care what company makes it as long as it has the "fallout feel and mood". As long as its an intelligent game that has plenty of action, witty jokes, good roleplaying and interesting plots, I am game :)

So go ahead and make the game! :D

Cheers,

Zoe

Crap crappidy crapcrapcrap

I haven't benn around for some time and i have just got to knowing Van burren was really F3 and that it was cancelled along with most bis employees.

Personally from what i've been able to read thru this short time i think SilverStyle would be most appropriate to take on fallout 3 since it seems they are willing to listen to the community. I don't say that if they start from scratch than it will be the best game ever. But if they were to buy the unfinished fallout 3 prog and finish that with the occasional asking of opinions from the community and maybe asking the help of someone who was writing the dialogues for f/f2 than it could probably be the best fallout episode. Oh yea and they need to stick with the fallout bible! I know these are though conditions but think. If they manage to pull this off we'll get the char sys that the devs originally wanted along with the original graphics engine and if they at least read thru the fo bible they'll probably get the dialogues right. So this was i think it's worth a shot. 8)

Tho interplay officially denies putting off most of bis and stopping f3 :seriouslyno: who knows what might happen.

As we all know the conclusion: Hope always dies last!

Arcanum is one of my top 10 PC games of all time. I could care less that the enemies are all the same, the game is great. The whole magic mixed with 19th century machinery is a awesome idea and I think it worked very well.

I am the same way with Arcanum as I am with Fo1 and Fo2, they both remain on my HD and always will.

Mohrg

I want to make my voice heard about this since I read that Puuk was picked up by SSE.

It would probably rock, and I would love to see you try this on. It'd be a match worth the price if you dare to enter the ring.
I think you've got most of the fan-base with you on this if you keep a close interaction with the BIS devs that you already are in contact with.

I personally wouldn't see something bad in a RT/TB-game, I just love that space-bar function :)

Hope you try it on, I'll be watching you :D (that sounded "stalkerish", cool)
